Not offensive at all if true. The only thing that pisses me off regarding 9/11 is that it was the day our happy county turned to shit, because everyone running it are either paranoid fucks, or are using the paranoia from their voters to seize power.

My closest friend lost her father on 9/11. I was there with her through some of the worst days of her life as she had to re-adjust at fourteen years old to life without one of her parents.

You know what though? Ten years later, she's fine. Twenty four, getting married next year, and she asked if my father would walk her down the isle since she's so close with my family. 9/11 for her will always be an unforgettable day, but she doesn't dwell on it anymore. Life goes on, and so did hers.

So if she's completely okay with stuff like this (which just seems to be a giant coincidence anyway) then I don't see why anyone else would get worked up over it. She's even mentioned to me in the past that it pisses her off when people try to come up with reasons to be offended over something 9/11 related.

It was a tragedy for those involved, and a sad day in American history for the rest. But it's not worth getting so worked up over, it's way past time to move on.

The article claims Route 4 is where Kyruem fell, If that's the case I want my level 70 Ice/Dragon Legendary in a plain old construction sight in the desert, when my teams average level is about 20+.

How can anyone possibly get offended by that. Not to mention, there are plenty of worse things that have happened.

USA as a nation did deserve it
Seriously? You're seriously going to make a blanket statement like that? You're going to make the assumption that the entire USA deserved 9/11 even though more than half of the country didn't even want the Bush administration to be in charge in the first place? Ok, fair enough I guess. I may not agree with what you say, but I'll defend your right to say it.

OT: I don't find it offensive at all. I mean yes, 9/11 was a significant event in the lives of many many people, but I don't see this as offensive. Now, if it showed rogue Pokemon (large, flying ones obviously) diving headfirst into towers and taking them down, then yeah I'd say that's a little more of a blatant attempt to be offensive.

Treating 9/11 like it was no big deal however is highly offensive to people who did lose family members, loved ones, friends, and colleagues during the attack. If someone murdered a member of your family would you really be able to say you'd ever "get over it?"

I agree that in the age of political correctness people can be overly sensitive about words, but death is an entirely different issue. I believe people still have the right to be upset about 9/11. And let's not forget people, in the grand scheme of things, 10 years is not that long.

This is a complete and total myth, and I'm frankly dissapointed the Cracked staff would spread it as truth. Route 4 isn't supposed to be Ground Zero, Kyurem isn't the "9/11 Pokémon" as it's been called, and the fact that it's 9'11" long is just a coincidence that was probably the inspiration for this claim in the first place. And even if it was supposed to be a 9/11 reference, which I'd like to reiterate it's not, so what? Jesus getting crucified was a tragedy. The nuking of Japan was a tragedy. The fact that Glenn Beck is allowed to walk the streets without being persecuted for crimes against the very concept of intelligence is a tragedy. Simply referring to them isn't the same as saying that they were awesome or that the victims deserved it.

Cheezus.

Glad I got that out before I just started bashing my head off the keyboard.

Get over it.

Worse things has happened since then.
To still whine about these sort of things being offensive gives the picture of america being ignorant or/and egotistic. And we aren't all to popular in foreign politics to begin with.

Honestly, the reference completely passed my mind until you brought up just now. I still don't really care, however. Seriously, I can understand the emotions around 9/11, but you American's seem to treat it as though Al Qaeda nuked half your country away when the Twin Towers fell, and seem to want everyone else to care just as excessively about it when we have no reason or care to.

Stop bringing it the fuck up. Please.
This all the way this. Statistically 9/11 was a failure with only 90% of people who could have been killed actually dying so by the terrorist standards it was a failure. 3000 people a year is less than heart failures, death rates of any cancer patient and less than the number of people a year who get killed in car crashes.

Yet the American government uses is as a blanket statement to justify almost anything. Think about the security in airports after 9/11 because of terrorists, the killswitch in the US because it could be "cyber 9/11", the war you guys have been in for 8 years if memory serves me correctly, how much money, time and effort has been put into fighting an enemy who could literally be anyone at any time in any place. The utter insanity and paranoia created is the most shocking part, not the actual attack. You let the terrorist do what they planned to do, inflict terror

All stats from http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2002/aug/18/usa.terrorism

It was 10 years ago, it was a failure, your country is worse off as a governments reaction and not the actual attack. I am not offended in the slightest
Yeah, I remember reading about that on Snopes. Again, great to see what human life is worth for you Euros. *thumbs up*

I don't see what the big fucking deal is, and I didn't even notice it until I read that article even though I've looked at that map numerous times throughout my gameplay. If anyone is offended by it they really need to get the fuck over it.

I don`t get it, honestly....

First, like many of us that started up the game im sure, didnt even consider the city in question to be a reference to New York. Castelia City (the culprit in question), is the biggest metropolis ever placed into a Pokemon game, with tall skyscrapers, rush our traffic, and prominent seaside views from its hourbors.

The accused "ground zero" area is OUTSIDE the city, and its a dessert. Route 4 and the Dessert Resort are the first steps to the north of the city, and are therefore not a part of the city. So how excatly are they a reference to the 9/11 attacks? My conclusion, they dont.

These were made to appear like a 9/11 refernce by people (mostly Americans) who are stuck in the past. They still cant move on. And people will look for anything that offends them, just so they can feel like they accomplish somthing.

And as for the supposed "9/11 Pokemon", it's name is Kyurem. Its origins about its decent to our world like a meteor are referencing the fact that most comets are made of stone and ice crystals. Not much else is said abouts its place of landing, but one thing is interesting...

According the ingame Pokedex, Bulbapedia, and the Official Collectors Edition: Pokemon Black & White Strategy Guide and Unova Region Pokedex (which i am currently holding), describes the Pokemons official height as.......wait......9 feet 10 inches.....

Yup.

I dont know where the 9`11 height came from, but its not true people. Get over it. This isnt a terrorist attack, these are not 9/11 references, Sadam Hussein is dead, the towers are gone, it happened 10 years ago, nothing more can be done about it.

Lets all just grow up, stop acting like immature self-absorbed children, and stop blaming a fucking cartoon for causing 9/11.
This. You pretty much explained it better than I can.

Yeah. that.
But then some Americans think 9/11 was the worst tragedy in the history of man. DURPPPP
To be fair, those who lost loved ones in the attacks IMO get some leeway, though I disagree with calling the attacks the "WORST THING EVER TO HAPPEN IN THE 21ST CENTURY," or calling the victims of 9/11 "heroes" (police officers, firefighters, EMTs aside, of course).

Also, to the OP, who's clearly trolling us:

It's a pokemon. I really, really, really, REALLY doubt that the people who made the game and designed the pokemon did it as a big screw you to america and the twin towers.

Even if they did, who cares. Take it from a skeptic who is also american- people are looking way to into things. what would the pokemon designers hope to gain by being so insensitive?

It is an issue if you make it to be one.

Honestly are you going to ban everything that is related to number 9 1 1? My cousin was born on 9.11.2000.
So hes ID spell 09/11/00. Is he now insulting everyone who is American, will he be let in to the America after he shows hes passport?

Ok, we all know you are patriotic and whatnot... But just get over it. If you make it to be an issue people will start avoiding you. I'd rather give a cookie to someone else than change the recipe to fit your taste. Honestly, in my opinion that will start to happen the foreign media, they will rather sell it elsewhere than risk it "offending" some American patriot.

Honestly get over it, it is starting to annoy others.
No offense ofc... It was horrible event ,
But if Finns got over the horrible events we went trough in past and recently. So can you.

Correction some American's get easily offended, and that minority is always loud.

well done America, now you can have your own Princess Diana in the form of a building. It will pop up every so often with the newspapers saying how much better the world would be if they were still here.

You know what i find offensive? People who find things offensive. People need to stop being such pussies and get over themselves. sure 9/11 was horrible but if we affiliate anything with it we're never gonna get over it.
