Now 'that' is something which can easily be construed as offensive.

You know what i find offensive? People who find things offensive. People need to stop being such pussies and get over themselves. sure 9/11 was horrible but if we affiliate anything with it we're never gonna get over it.
You're offended by yourself? That must be troubling. >_<

If it makes you cry so much then why don't you go and invade the developers' HQ and 'liberate' any pokémon that you come across, you might even find some oil there to get your hands on. Why not call the game racist too because 'Black and White' is clearly a reference to African Americans and the Ku Klux Klan?

Does anyone else want to take some part of the game and twist it to sound offensive too? It's fun!

what the fuck is with all the commenters and saying we should "get over" 9/11? what happened cannot be forgotten or forgiven, and making tastless jokes and exploits over it is no less offesive then, now or a hundred years from now.

Yeah, I remember reading about that on Snopes. Again, great to see what human life is worth for you Euros. *thumbs up*
this is the kind of thinking that leaders have justified any from of screwing over their people, religion is a good example. Do what we do and if you don't you are going to burn, this justifies us doing this also the threat of Satan can be through anyone at any time. What does that sound like? The American Government on terrorism really

I have no idea what snopes is, I have never read, listened to or watched this media format and all this view is 9/11 from an economist point of view. I never valued human life to the Euro, plus I am British so if I did to my currency it would be the pound and even then I would use the dollar as it is American currency.

When Junichi Masuda was asked about this he got very upset that we thought that and assured (over again) thats not what they ever intended
in other words
your reading to much into it.
It's impossible that that's not what they intended, from what I can see the ruined area is in the right spot to be ground zero, and the Pokemon that caused it just happens to be 9'11''? No fucking way that's a coincidence, if they say it is they're backpedaling.
The pokemon in question is 9'10" (I've caught it, and originally it's 3 meters anyway) and it's found in a little rural town in the north-east. I don't really see any connection here.
Also half of "manhattan" is a desert in the game, and somehow this means Ground zero?
But even if all of it would be true, I don't see how it would really be offensive. A bit tasteless maybe but who cares?

Wait, I see a lot of people complaining about others taking offense to something and then annoying them about it 'cause they "just won't let it go," yet the original complainers are nowhere to be found and the offenders are still out there offending.

I amt confused, who is bullshit here?

A lot of people has lost their lives in that tragic event, and no one can deny that, however it's been 10 years and people need to move on, whining about it and keeping it in silence won't bring those lives back.

you don't see people whining about World War II or Gulf War references don't you ?

It's gotta be a coincidence because Pokemon, obviously, is a Japanese game, and they use the metric system in Japan. So when the pokemon in the game have their height translated, it gets changed from meters to feet and inches.

So yeah, they're definitely looking too much into it.

And btw, I read the article, and while I'm American, I laughed at the #10 on the list. I'm sorry, but I thought that was pretty funny.
Thank you! America is one of the last fucking countries to not use the metric system. The fact that even in the metric system the Pokemon in question is 9/10 (which I am sure is their plot to make you think they're not making the reference), is not related to the area in any way, the fact that the area is a fucking DESERT with sandstorms and sand Pokemon, much like the deserts in the last 3 generations of Pokemon games. I have not seen it called Ground Zero in any word. I also think it's worth mentioning that last time I checked (2002) there was no desert where Ground Zero is, and even though I am not an American it was sad to be there, but that was almost exactly one year after it happened, so that's normal.

RJ Dalton said:
Um, has anybody mentioned that the Japanese use the metrics system, so the size of the pokemon has to be either an American decision, or it is likely a coincidence.
Yup, right up there.

I hope that the 9/11 hysteria can die out soon...

10 fucking years ago.

Honestly, the reference completely passed my mind until you brought up just now. I still don't really care, however. Seriously, I can understand the emotions around 9/11, but you American's seem to treat it as though Al Qaeda nuked half your country away when the Twin Towers fell, and seem to want everyone else to care just as excessively about it when we have no reason or care to.

Stop bringing it the fuck up. Please.
This.

Yes 9/11 was a tragedy, but it wasn't the apocalypse: as for the Poké side of things, could be a coincidence.

since 9/11 is not a big deal (unless you are an American with your head stuck up your own ass) then it is impossible to get offended by it
America kills triple the amount that died in the towers every year and while it is sad for the people who died then USA as a nation did deserve it

If this is offencive, then the meer act of mentioning 9/11 is disrespectful.
So you get offended every year when where forced to remember it? So we can justify war and all the soldiers who have been killed because of it. Well anyway it actually doesn't mention 9/11 at all, it?s a reference that arguable wasn't really needed but is not offensive, it would be offensive if people in the game where praising the pokemon for doing it but they don't so people need to get over it.

I remember reading that article and thinking what a completely stupid piece of crap it was, and I'm usually a fan of Cracked.
It seems like the writer was clutching at straws with that, trying to find something to be offended about... it's no wonder America can get bad press sometimes with idiots like that.

Or people can stop being little babies and crying about everything.

I honestly don't see how it's THAT offensive. Then again, I have hobbies besides complaining so I wouldn't know.
Ding Ding!

I doubt anybody found this out by themselves during the game and though: "this saddens me over and event tnhat heppened a decade ago".

Most amercians, myself included, would laugh at someone who suggested this was offensive.
