I have no idea what snopes is, I have never read, listened to or watched this media format and all this view is 9/11 from an economist point of view. I never valued human life to the Euro, plus I am British so if I did to my currency it would be the pound and even then I would use the dollar as it is American currency.

It's impossible that that's not what they intended, from what I can see the ruined area is in the right spot to be ground zero, and the Pokemon that caused it just happens to be 9'11''? No fucking way that's a coincidence, if they say it is they're backpedaling.

The pokemon in question is 9'10" (I've caught it, and originally it's 3 meters anyway) and it's found in a little rural town in the north-east. I don't really see any connection here.
Also half of "manhattan" is a desert in the game, and somehow this means Ground zero?
But even if all of it would be true, I don't see how it would really be offensive. A bit tasteless maybe but who cares?

It's gotta be a coincidence because Pokemon, obviously, is a Japanese game, and they use the metric system in Japan. So when the pokemon in the game have their height translated, it gets changed from meters to feet and inches.

So yeah, they're definitely looking too much into it.

And btw, I read the article, and while I'm American, I laughed at the #10 on the list. I'm sorry, but I thought that was pretty funny.

Thank you! America is one of the last fucking countries to not use the metric system. The fact that even in the metric system the Pokemon in question is 9/10 (which I am sure is their plot to make you think they're not making the reference), is not related to the area in any way, the fact that the area is a fucking DESERT with sandstorms and sand Pokemon, much like the deserts in the last 3 generations of Pokemon games. I have not seen it called Ground Zero in any word. I also think it's worth mentioning that last time I checked (2002) there was no desert where Ground Zero is, and even though I am not an American it was sad to be there, but that was almost exactly one year after it happened, so that's normal.

Um, has anybody mentioned that the Japanese use the metrics system, so the size of the pokemon has to be either an American decision, or it is likely a coincidence.

Seriously, I can understand the emotions around 9/11, but you American's seem to treat it as though Al Qaeda nuked half your country away when the Twin Towers fell, and seem to want everyone else to care just as excessively about it when we have no reason or care to.
