I would make a comment on how this illustartes that the average gamer does not care who makes a game and cares only of the name on the box.

But I don't have to. The game's awesome. Congrats, Treyarch.

Get ready Treyarch, you're about to be gutted by Activision so they can line their pockets with the money they owe you.
*EDIT*
Oh, also, I refuse to believe this sold as well as it did for any reason other than the word Call Of Duty on the front cover.

Now all Treyarch has to do is fix the problem in the multiplayer without breakin the entire game and they will be 10X better than IW
What problems?
The Spawn system sucks(its COD we all know this)
You cant hear footsteps(Ninja=worthless)
the matchmaking system has a hard time connecting players to games
Hit detection is horendous*
and there is texture lag sometimes* meaning that the game doesnt show an enemy thats 5 feet ahead of you

but Treyarch says they are working on these

*happens in maybe 1 out of 7 games

"The title's success illustrates the mass appeal of interactive entertainment as millions of consumers are choosing to play Call of Duty: Black Ops at unprecedented levels rather than engage in other forms of media."

Wait, what? I'm pretty sure you can watch a film or whatever in between Blops and real life.

OT: This makes my insides hurt.

I'm glad that Call of Duty is back again. The graphics have always been bad in the Treyarch CoDs, but I still really enjoyed CoD 3's campaign. I also like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. But World at War's graphics weren't just bad... It felt like they were burning my eyes. I couldn't buy the game. Modern Warfare 2 looked stupid and the whole fiasco with PC Gaming put me off it.

However, I bought Black Ops and I really like it! Although there are a few optimization issues (the game runs poorly if I don't make it look like a Gamecube title, whereas Fallout New Vegas runs great on high settings), and the first two levels in the campaign suck hard, the rest of the campaign so far is classic CoD fun. I also really like the multiplayer, despite being terrible at it.

Seriously, that many people haven't heard it being referred to as Blops yet?

Anyway, not surprised it outsold MW2. A lot of people I know avoided MW2 based on its lack of dedicated server support, or were introduced to online shooters via a friend's copy of MW2 - either way, they didn't buy it at launch.
Blops offered dedicated servers, had the entire MW2 fanbase, and the extras who'd decided to get in on the next big thing. And the proceeded to look awesome throughout its advertising campaign, turning some of the slightly less jaded cynics, such as myself, from a position of "don't care, it's just another CoD, won't get it" to "Ooh! It's like MW2, but not horrifically unbalanced! Ooh! Wager matches! Day one purchase!"

And you know what? I'm having fun with it. Maybe not as much fun as I had with Reach, and I'll probably move back soon. But still, fun. Sure, it's not perfect, nothing is, but it's ironed out many of the flaws of its predecessor, and is enjoyable to play.

glad i am not apart of the millions who bought the game. Single player looks crap and multiplayer is not worth $60

I wonder how much more successful they'll get by re-releasing the same game with different maps and weapons repeatedly before people get bored of it.

Cuba? Vorkuta? Huh.

I found those to be pretty much the best ones in the game.

Oh, well.

To be honest, I think it's about as bad as Reach. It's just that in Reach, it takes far longer for you to get killed.

Cuba really annoyed me because of it's blatant xenophobic, anti-Cuban, pro-American propaganda. I felt like an evil prick during the mission.

I think the reason I didn't like the second mission might have been because I was still annoyed at the first one. I felt it was a little cheesy. Then I got to the motorcycle chase and I've really liked the campaign since then! To be honest, if I went back and played Vorkuta, I'd probably like it more.

I found Reach to have an alright spawn system. At least on Reach the teams spawn either side of the map, not right next to eachtoher (Im lookign at you Nuketown!)

Blop's system seems to think that aslong as the enemy are not visable when you spawn, its safe. BULLSHIT. Just because a guy is facing the other way doesnt mean hes not going to turn around... Ive actually span 360, the first 180 being safe, once i span back to my start position there was a guy popping up infront of me (a horrible tactic that works a bit too well on some maps...)

This really doesn't surprise me at all. Retailers all over the country have been saying since it was reservable that it had more reserves than its predecessor.

Well it makes sense. They did put it out on one more console than MW2. for all you non wii or owners CoD 4 wasnt released on wii when if first came out (infinity ward didnt like the system) so when MW2 came out N-space ported CoD 4 to the wii. treyarch has always put their call of duty on the wii, and being one of the most played games for the system its no surprise it out sold.

Eh... Well, yes, maybe, but I didn't really notice anything that wrong. The Cuban soldiers are portrayed badly, sure, but that's Call Of Duty for you. They don't do the enemies noble or anything.

And that bit with
notCastro and that girl who shoots at you afterwards
was fantastic, to my mind.

Also, I loved, LOVED Vorkuta. And I'm Russian! Figures I would hate it.
