Double record all the waaaay!

Dude, I really didn't expect Blops to sell nearly as well as MW2. Meh, it's still a pretty good game and I don't regret buying it so... Yeah, nice one Treyarch.

Please explain to me the problem with putting you in the shoes of an American agent circa Bay of Pigs and having them act as though, gasp, they believed Castro was a bad guy worth taking down. You know, like anyone who would sign up for a suicide mission to Cuba would think at the time.

There was no 'Xenophobia' or 'Anti-Cuban' bullshit in that level. There was you, on a mission to kill Castro, and guys with guns trying to stop you. The only hint of 'Anti-Cuban' in that whole level shows up in two locations. First when you are talking to a rebel bartender owner who is pissed about losing his land and business to Castro. You know, which is what actually happened in a number of cases. Second when 'Castro' uses his mistress as a human shield. Considering she grabs a gun and shoots at you afterwards, I would say it's pretty obvious what she thinks of the intruders.

Stop projecting, please.

I'm not shocked, but I am mildly surprised.

All of my classmates couldn't wait, but they bitched about the lack of 'warfare' and it's 'modern' backdrop in the title.

What DOES surprise me is that there is still no mention of Modern Warfare Vanilla's greatness.

All I hear is, 'Modern Warfare 2 was MOAR BETTUH'.

However, when asked if they preferred Vanilla or Two more the responses were fairly 'original' centric.

I can name a couple.

knifing is still to long- I personally think there should be no lunge at all but just a swing or stab so you have to be close to a person to kill them. Look at counter strike for example.

The Ak74u is just a little to powerful and has basically no bullet spread, even from the hip, it could use a tiny nerf

Lag is a big issue.

And a personal one of mine, the crossbow doesn't fire normal bolts! WTF! Why can't I shoot silent bolts into people, instead of loud and less satisfying explosive bolts?

Cuba? Vorkuta? Huh.

I found those to be pretty much the best ones in the game.
Cuba really annoyed me because of it's blatant xenophobic, anti-Cuban, pro-American propaganda. I felt like an evil prick during the mission.

I think the reason I didn't like the second mission might have been because I was still annoyed at the first one. I felt it was a little cheesy. Then I got to the motorcycle chase and I've really liked the campaign since then! To be honest, if I went back and played Vorkuta, I'd probably like it more.
Eh... Well, yes, maybe, but I didn't really notice anything that wrong. The Cuban soldiers are portrayed badly, sure, but that's Call Of Duty for you. They don't do the enemies noble or anything.

And that bit with
notCastro and that girl who shoots at you afterwards
was fantastic, to my mind.

Also, I loved, LOVED Vorkuta. And I'm Russian! Figures I would hate it.
Vorkuta was awesome! I loved the part were you were behind the cart as they pushed it and you had to stay behind while shooting. It just felt awesome, the guy calling out and you looking and shooting. :D

BlOps isn't that bad, it's just not that good either. I mean, even the graphics aren't that good looking, something you'd think they work on for a big mega ultra supercalifragilisticexpialidocious Activision franchise game. I mean, the multiplayer's fun, but it's not really any different from COD4.

But nonetheless, good for Treyarch. Spiderman 2 forever!

funnily enough, its also the game that will validate them making a "multiplayer only" video game
You talk as though no ones ever made a multiplayer only game or as if its a stupid idea (tf2, counterstrike anyone?). I disagree, its much better if games focus on one thing rather than try to be two games in one.

besides I never liked the singleplayer in cod games anyway its boring, haven't even bothered starting it in black ops yet. why fight stupid AI when you can pit yourself against real humans, and its not like the singleplayer parts ever have engaging stories to tell.

Well, it's official: It doesn't matter how crappy your game is. Advertise the hell out of it, and not only will you sell well, but you'll break records.

I haven't bought it, but a friend brought it over to play. No sir. I don't like it.

I'm actually one of those people, and I must say I have real confidence in this game. I'm playing on the PC and I'm already way happier with it than i was with mw2 both gameplaywise and the fact that they have dedicated server. Now the launch for us was rocky and treyarch still has a long way to go they show a lot of promise and I think 2011 will be a good year for CoD pc.

Also, the recent Family guy episode "Excellence in Broadcasting" applies to most haters in this thread/online.

Sorry, couldn't resist.

It just isn't fun to me. Maybe with time I'd come to enjoy it if I bought it, but it didn't impress me.

It has all the problems of past COD titles (any lag will result in an avalanche of cheap deaths, spawns will often place you in enemy crosshairs, etc.) but added some new ones (advancements system takes away sense of progression, truly awful graphics, sound made irrelevant, nerfed perks, matchmaking system makes staying in a party IMPOSSIBLE).

All in all, unless all my friends play it a lot, I'll probably be going somewhere else for my multiplayer FPS fun.

no,no, you got me wrong, what i meant to say is that now they will launch full AAA titles based only around multi-player, tf2 is not a 90 bucks game, and well, i dont know a lot about counter strike to formulate an oppinion.

and we can have both things in one game, there are a lot of examples on such things, so why focus only in one aspect? you can have 2!, thats my point.

I'll admit deafeat simply because I found that pic hysterical.

"The title's success illustrates the mass appeal of interactive entertainment as millions of consumers are choosing to play Call of Duty: Black Ops at unprecedented levels rather than engage in other forms of media."

Translated

"Wow, all you suckers are doing is playing this game instead of having lives."

The problem is, most of it is just the people who just play games like cod and fifa... and even if you put black ops on another disc and call it cod 8, THEY WILL BUY IT.

I got black ops as a surprise early christmas present. Its so much like MW2 that I instantly got a pretty high amount of kills in my first game due to me having to learn NOTHING. But I also got a good k/d because of no bullshit deaths.

SO.....people are paying £40-£60 for a patch?....good one guys
