I just ignore anything happened after Jedi or Last Crusade. Hate is such a wasteful emotion, I'd rather watch films I enjoy.

I think this article should've been called "It's Time To Forget George Lucas." The author points out (rightly) that the term "forgive" kind of implies that Lucas failed to deliver on some sort of deal, which is of course bullshit. The overall message of the article isn't about forgiveness; it's about moving on. I couldn't agree more.

Plus, anyone who disliked the Podracer scene needs to be bitchslapped imo.
Bring it.

What is wrong with the prequels? I enjoyed them well enough, and didn't have too much of a babyish attitude to whine about them.

I love the prequels.
I love the originals.
I have seen the originals more times, but only because the prequels did not exist when I was a child.
I never hated the man... or Jar-Jar.

In fact, the only issue I have with the entire six films is when Jar-Jar is on Tatooine and he steps on the poo.
Why did he have to step on poo?
Other than that, fantastic.

I'm reminded of something Yahtzee once said. If there's one thing history has taught us, besides not to piss off people called 'Ganges' or put lead in your water pipes, it's that if you're going to create something incredibly good that becomes frighteningly popular, make sure it's the last thing you create in your entire life. Otherwise you get to spend the rest of your creative career struggling under the weight of high expectations and bricks."
Which is interesting because Yahtzee would be first in line to crucify George Lucus. I sometimes wonder if I should tactfully remind him of his own words, but then I remember that he probably wont listen anyway.
Personally I get sick and tired of hearing people ***** about Lucus and the prequel trilogy, this is first I've heard anyone say anything about the Special Editions.
Although every time I hear someone mention that 'who shot first' I go 'wtf?' I don't recall Greedo shooting PERIOD, in ANY edition.
Regardless this whole fiasco is largely why I won't ever share anything I create with anyone. I don't need a fan following of dipshits who'll presume to tell me how my creation that I created should unfold.

Yeah the problem is that after 20 years of not making movies we pretty much defied George Lucas. When he came out and we got proof that he was human, prone to making mistakes, we reacted poorly. *shrugs*

I've never understood how the prequels are considered "Awful". No they're not the originals, which are fantastic, but they are mediocre.

Whats to forgive. He's a film maker who in his prime made gold...and now he's old. You see his name...be wary that he's like any 40+ year old. Chalk full of old idea's that today's media won't see any merit of, becuase its old balls stupid....like my father and his friends dumbass idea's.

Cept Speilburg...he has yet to get old.

Always preferred Star Trek and Babylon 5, far more entertaining and thought provoking. Besides I'm not forgiving Lucas for the monsterosity that is THX-1138 http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0066434/ where nothing fun or profound happens.

I'm going to come right out and say that I've never hated the prequels as a whole. There are parts that annoy me, yes. Do I think some things could have been better? Hell yes. But I can pick through the original trilogy just the same, and find parts of it that I dislike. And that's always been my main rub with the haters: Nostalgia blinded all of them too much.

Which movie has:

An annoying, whining supporting character with a funny accent?
An annoying child protagonist?
A wise older man willing to teach the ways of the force to said annoying child?
A wise older man who dies!
Giant masses of faceless drones who die if you sneeze at them?
etc etc and so on.

That, in a nutshell, is what is in The Phantom Menace. However! It is also what is in A New Hope. Anyone who didn't find C3-PO's whining annoying is lying to you. Anyone who didn't find LUKE's whining annoying is lying to you. People have this huge bubble of nostalgia over the original trilogy, thinking it did no wrong, but then turn right around and complain about things in the prequels that were ALSO in the original trilogy. I have absolutely hated that mentality since The Phantom Menace came out.

Nah I won't forgive him. Least with the first three movies he wasn't blatant in his money grubbing. And the first three were proof if the man could have mad 4,5, and six the way he wanted to he'd of screwed them up so bad it wouldn't be funny.

Burn Lucas.

Until I see a Ep1 with Jar Jar edited out of it.

I don't think the prequels were bad, just different. Me? I love the Clone Wars era.

...and that's about as much as I really need to say haha
Exactly I love the star wars prequils but i absolutely hate indiana jones 4. sorry i hate it. ANYWHO the reason i commented you was because: have you seen/watch the clone wars tv show? Theyre almost as good as full length movies. In fact if they made them full length movies itd be pretty awesome

I will confess this: I actually saw the first two of the prequel trilogy before I watched the classics, and I didn't think they were all that bad. I saw the originals, and they were great films, and certainly better than the prequels in retrospect. But still, I have no reason to hate Lucas other than Indiana Jones and the Ridiculous Alien Plot, and the Holiday Special.

I've always thought the problem with the Prequels wasn't that they were worse, it's that movies got better. Sure, the Originals are still still fun and even have their moments of good one-liners, but for the most part not having grown up with them I was never terribly by the writing of the series.

But they absolutely needed to be there, when they came out.

I have no doubt in my mind that Star Wars pretty much saved the film genre I love by being both different and in a lot of ways better then most of the other things that were out then. But the key word there is then. As films coninued on the revolution Star Wars helped to create the series itself never learned to change with the times. The Prequels weren't too different from the Originals, they were too much like them.

And when you strip out all the historical relevency all we're left with is an enjoyable set of movies about wiz-bang-shooty-fun set in a fantasic universe, nothing more, nothing less. And if that's all I'm there for, I'd rather watch the ones with the better effects and art style.

Episode IV is the best though, closely followed by III. You can't tell me the extermination of the jedi didn't give you chills.

More importantly, whatever "wrongs" Lucas has committed lately simply don't stack up as tremendously noteworthy compared to the remarkable "rights" of his overall career.
Notice how your list of his achievements does not include any films he had made aside from Star Wars and Indiana Jones, two franchises that have long since outlived their usefulness and should be put to sleep. This is because he hasn't made any. He only has two film series to his credit and neither of them are original. Both movies are based on the cliffhanger serials of the 30's, 40's and 50's which Lucas grew up watching. These films are an extended love letter to his childhood. And he hasn't moved beyond this. (Interestingly, the person who really ruined Star Wars was Indiana Jones)

That all said, I don't feel any need to forgive George because for me it is just too much to see all that promise squandered, both in these two series and in the potential films he could have made.

This man retconed about ten year of Mandalorian fiction to make The Clone Wars tv show canoon. There will be no forgiveness for him. I will for give the 2nd movie, but that's all he'll get.
