It is NOT freedom of speech to offer money to assault someone. Guys/Gals, do you want to know why they are always coming after our games? It's because SOME of us act like retards and think it's funny to make a threat like that. Yes, legally that's a threat. In the case of the President, it is illegal to even SPEAK of assassinating them. To clarify, if you express intention of assassinating the President of the United States, you are committing a crime. Period. In the case of Jack Thompson, who IS a jackass in my opinion, it is still a crime to make an offer or accept one to assault him. There are ways of saying that you don't like or agree with a person that doesn't bring down the community around you.

Oh man, he's good. The guy should become a spin doctor for a politician-he's really gifted at twisting some obscure information around and using it on the unsuspecting mass.

Honestly though, gamers ought to lay off this guy and stop giving him the ammunition to attack us with as well. The more hate we show, the easier it is for him to show how "violent" gamers are.

Now, before this article I had never heard of this Jack Thompson. But, if he's acting against total idiots who deserve it, I'm happy.

Mabye he could sue himself for causing the hate in the first place? That strikes me as his brand of logical thinking.

I can ignore him, and he's legally allowed to express his opinions, however ignorant.

Life goes on...*walks away happily, with birds landing on my arms and woodland critters scurrying between my legs*

$100 to anyone who takes a copy of Halo...and after the sobbing stops, takes there Wii...making sure to follow the Manhunt directions...dispose of the rotting...out to sea. So, anyone up for it? seriously though. This is bad form. Just like when someone who plays videogames does something violent, it makes the gaming community as a whole look really bad. Freedom of speech is one thing, but the article clearly stated the problem with this, and that's that no matter how harmless it is, it makes gamers look like violent people. "jackthompsonsanidiot.com" is one thing, but "letskillthompson.com" isn't. I hope that this will blow over without much incident, and that when it does, we learn a lesson about what the boundaries are when thinking as someone who's not a gamer.

I came into videogames at the age of 12. I had never heard of Jack Thompson, but I find that nowadays I hear much to much of him.

Would anyone ever smack Thompson across the face with an Atari 2600? Of course not.
I think you are underestimating the ire that this man arouses in us. (I would but maybe with a Sega Saturn, y'know somthing less pricey.)

Seriously, you don't want threats and hatred? Don't crusade against what is now an entire culture of people who love video games. Jackies' time and reasoning is up, over, outdated, and instead of whining about it he should just go gracefully into obscurity once more.

He hasn't got a hope in hell anymore. There's too many whom view this man as a stain on existance in the courts... And a few million others who would see him take the embarassing fall once more.
