I seem to be in two minds about this.
1.) Mr Thompson doesn't like it when someone uses their free speech to disagree with him. (as demonstrated on various interviews and radio shows - see Wikiquotes.)
2.) Mr Thompson cannot tell a bunch of cheesed off gamers venting their spleen from a real death threat.
But my final thoughts upon this is that the Freedom of speech works both ways - while Mr Thompson is allowed to express his almost offensive opinions, he must also accept that people out there really don't like him for trying to put a dampener upon their hobbies.
