Not happening, Jack-o. No one takes you seriously anymore.

Although that "pre-order" thing he mentioned actually sounds interesting... but I can't verify it anywhere.

Training? Realism? This is Medal of Honor, not ARMA, the only thing this would teach people is that camping is for noobs, and health regenerates in a few seconds. Fucking idiot.

Also, why the fuck is he sending this to the secretary of defense? Doesn't he have better things to do?

Wow. Jack Thompson wants people to look at him hating video games, and is using a controversial developer's decision to fuel himself. There's a friggin surprise... Guess he doesn't really care about military folk (not just us Americans) and what they have to go through. Or worse, doesn't think the extremists have a perspective that needs to be examined and learned from (Like, oh, say, the Nazis. Nothing bad ever happened by ignoring them, did it? /sarcasm).

I see where he is coming from but he can't stop this. Plus, he sees it as a training tool, no training tool can make you get over taking another human beings life.

I swear, EA made it so they can get this kind of attention on purpose.

Plus I swear jack is using this game to stop video games altogether.

I lol'd when I saw this thread's title. I know of Jack Thompson from TVtropes, and I know how much of an idiot he is about video games.

This doesn't really worry me, as this guy never gets listened to and I wasn't planning on getting Medal of Honour anyway. However, has anyone heard if he's commented on The Proposed Law (You know, that one) that's going to SCOTUS soon?

if I were ea I would issue a press release saying that "we have heard your crys and now we will replace the taliban in the multi player with other american troops and instead of recording kills it will record friendly fire incidents" see how that goes over
Or make it US troops versus civilians, that way you can choose between killing friendlies, non-combatants or for double the fun, both!

As Eminem said "We need a little controversy".

I'll be honest, I'm surprised anyone is surprised at this. Lets not deny it, this is a controversial move by EA. I can't even think of many films or books that have covered the Iraq war from the perspective of the terrorists. At least with, say, WW2 or Vietnam, we have had tonnes of other works "softening the blow" so to say.

Anyone who goes into combat using skills learned from video games deserves to be shot, with the possible exception of ARMA II.

ok, so imaginary terrorists are ok to play as, but real terrorists are not. hmm...

when will the critics realize that they are just giving the game free advertising? this is like the terrorist scene in mw2, or the sex scene in mass effect. heres whats going to happen. the game will be released and will (probably) make bajillions of dollars because of jack thompson trying to stop it.

i just thought of something. what if jack thompson really doesnt hate videogames but is sort of like a professional asshole who makes a big stink about a particular video game so it will get a lot of controversy and thus a lot of free advertising and thus make a lot of money?

mabye, but that doesnt stop me from not liking him.

I doubt that the Taliban can even spell video games let alone afford them to use them. And how does playing multiplayer mean that they suddenly can fight better in the real world? will they start spawn camping our soldiers? Also I like how you can play as a Nazi or a Russian or a middle eastern soldier but the moment you play a TALIBAN fighter they wanna ban it.

Jack Thompson? I haven't heard that guy's name in months, he really must've been lazing around.

As for his determination on stopping MOH: Let him try, and fail.

All they have to do is rename the Taliban and everyone will shut up, which won't happen because controversy sells. Controversy gives free publicity and people will buy it to see what all the fuss is about, then be disappointed when it is ignorant nonsense like No Russian or that bit in Mass Effect (They complain about Mass Effect showing a bit of alien skin, but they say nothing about God of War's sex scenes).
