Last time I checked, EA wasn't selling to anyone but retailers. THEY sell it to the kids and what not. Go after them if you want to go after someone like an idiot.

Why are you still doing these stories, Escapist. Jack Thompson has been disbarred and now he's just a troll. Don't feed the troll, Escapist, and he'll starve.

Mr. Thompson obviously has a very strong opinion about video games and although it upsets everyone here we should respect him but letting him rant and promptly ignore him, like civilized people.
Hey, Jack Thompson articles are 10 times better than Michael Pachter articles.

Jack... You've lost. Face it.

Wait, didn't we get told for not standing up for ourselves more often? That we just let these things blow over us and they build up because we are not defending ourselves? This is what they were talking about, and this guy is just a bad itch, so, I think that what we need to do is show him we will not simply let him do this and comment on the sidelines. We must stand up and make sure that Jack backs down and quits this. Gaming is a fun past time and is something which does not train people to become killers as no-one has the sense to go out and do this! Half the things in games are impossible to do anyway!

Yes I think I will dress up like a female pope, conduct a funeral service, wait for angels to descend, kill them, wait for my friend to burst out of the coffin and have him help me kill them.

Okay, I know he's talking about more realistic games that Bayonetta, but something tells me that Medal of Honour (British spelling ftw) is not going to be realistic enough to train active terrorists. Unless EA markets this right during the COD season, it's not even going to be able to sell well amongst the 12 year olds and frat boys who make up 75% of the user base!

Calumon: Are you done? Finished ranting.

Jack: I could go on, but I want there to be room for everyone else.

"speaking on behalf of a number of people" - what the voices in your head?

There is not ONE shred of evidence from any footage or info of the game that shows you how to be a taliban soldier - or ANY soldier for that matter.

Also faxing the Secretary of Defense about a game... wow, really wow this guy has too many screws loose

EDIT: Also isn't there a REASON he isn't a lawyer anymore? He should think about that

But you don't even PLAY the role of a taliban soldier, your team just gets a different voice actor and skin than the USMC.....

Everyone is playing as a faceless, nameless soldier with absolutely no goal in life other than to capture imaginary points and kill infinitely respawning faceless soldiers. Who also have no goals in life.
What this is multiplayer? Christ! It's the same thing as the Modern Warfare games or anything else that came out lately. They just have a different name is all. I guess if Medal of Honor had "OpFor" instead of "Taliban" it'd all be dandy and there'd be rainbows everywhere and we could all dance the happy dance and shit.

Yes Ive been training all these years with war video games to take on the military. I have chest high walls set up strategically so when I'm shot I have a place to run and hide and recover my health.

Also I've been playing Metroid other M, so when I run out of rockets I just gotta hold A and I'll recover all of them

This is getting a little old. Not to mention incredibly pathetic.

Let me play devil's advocate for a moment and pretend his argument isn't batshit insane, wouldn't that mean you'd also have many Americans that would be well trained to fight the smaller force or videogame-trained(come on!) Taliban?

I hope the Special Ops consultants find him first.
If they do, we'll never know it. He'll simply disappear. For real this time, I mean.

Poor Jack. I wonder who will take up your mantel once you pass on. Comic books got the same treatment, and they're still around but no one can remember anyone who was pushing to have them banned. Fade into history if you don't mind, and let the rest of us live our lives.

all he is doing is jumping on the bandwagon with the U.S Army on how playing the terrorist in the game is going to make the terrorists look cool. This guy just needs to be punched in the face.

Really does anyone even consider Jack a legitimate threat anymore? Besides the last time I checked his lawyers license was in another castle.

I love Jack Thompson.

What an utter oaf. He is the Skeletor of video games and we need him around. To have this villian so comically ineffective and silly is distracting people in real power from doing anything. I hope he never leaves.

Really this is such a big matter on our US defense that he has to contact the Secretary of Defense.

Why didn't he ***** when you Modern Warfare lets you play as Islamic Terrorists online? Is it because Medal of Honor uses then Taliban name directly? I'm sure other games have done this without getting any flack before.

Damn it, he has resurfaced! Oh well, i don't see the secretary of defense taking an ex-lawyer who got dis-barred seriously, but really man? Saying it's realistic enough to train someone with? Well yeah, if you want cannon fodder, not soldiers. It may have been a touchy move to call the taliban the taliban instead of "the nabilat" or something, and the pre-order thing may be valid if an 8 year old really can walk into Gamestop by himself and do it.

And viseo game caused massacres? Does he reall want to go there again?
