what games did she produce before Assassins creed?
she programmed a lot she didn't produce any.

it's relevant to the topic. the OP seems misinformed about the structure of corporate videogame publishers and he seems to be operating from a position of misinformation. i can assure you that Jade Raymond was note hired for sex appeal in order to push sales on a science fiction assassination game. in an industry as white collared and corporate as videogame publishing Human Resources would have shit fit if anything remotely close to this was occurring (ie, posting a Production staffer as a sex object).sunami88 said:Thanks for the lesson. Can we go back on topic now?BallPtPenTheif said:and you would be mistaken. there are many various production roles within a company and even their placement (Publisher vs Developer) drastically changes their job roles. the position you are thinking of is more of an Executive Producer role.. and the publisher tends to handle the PR (always exceptions).Leon P said:sorry my impression of PRODUCER was someone who overseed all elements of production not just PR.

But at least I had the guts to post a topic about it trying to figure it out
I could of happily just assumed that for the rest of my life
at least I'm open to the idea that I'm wrong and take all sides of the argument in.
some people on this forum just seem far to eager for a flame war
i apologize if you think i am flaming you. that was not my intention and i didn't mean to infer that you are sexist. i was referring to your perception of the game industry, i should have been more clear in that differentiation rather than being pretentiously cryptic with the "says more about you" comment.Leon P said:Maybe I am misinformed

same here. even self perpetuated objectification is bad. i understand that they are attempting to empower themselves by embracing their feminity and unifying around that however i really doubt that guys look to them as role models of empowerment.Leon P said:Yeah its cool if I'm wrong at least Ive learnt something
but when as a gamer im bombarded with imagery like frag dolls
even the frag dolls make me kinda cringe
Yep, that's the line of thought I have. She's a good people person, and she has experience, so yeh, of course she'll be the PR for the producers.jezz8me said:Well there is a simple example she is a qualified producer who attended a interview at Ubisoft. What do interviewers like? Charisma. She was charismatic therefor got the job and her charisma also made her the spokesperson because she had the ability. She is a producer with marketing skills is all. Although i don't think putting a pretty face to a game could hurt sales to the casual gamer demographic.
Realistically, "all elements" usually means "cost and schedule."Leon P said:sorry my impression of PRODUCER was someone who overseed all elements of production not just PR.
Well, to get technical, being sexist in such a situation could actually get you quite a lot. If your behavior succeeds in reinforcing a generally sexist social structure, then you get to automatically have more authority than 50% of your peers just by virtue of your gender. This is why "but some of my best friends are women!" arguments don't work, either.Leon P said:I'm no sexist Im in a class of which 20/40 game graduates are females
(so being sexist gets me no where)

You happen to be posting a question about whether women can make games on what is one of the most gender equal and least chavunistic gaming forums on the internet, what did you expect?Leon P said:Maybe I am misinformed
