From what little I know about Japan, they seem to have almost no racial sensetivity in comparison to America or the U.K. at least, and probably do see it as a silly joke.

Can hardly complain about this compared to the asian-mocking Oasis advert that's been on brittish TV recently.

I think it's funny. In fact, I find Keane's comment "dresses like your stereotypical IT nerd" to be more insulting. No IT guy would ever wear a tie with a polo. Heck, there's very few IT guys who wear ties at all. If they do, it's because they work in finance or some such, and then they would wear a real dress shirt and slacks.

I don't see the problem with the advert, but I think as some one else pointed out white people need to stop stabbing each other in the backs, forcing us to live under the heel of our fellow white man.

I'm not exaclty sure what the message McDonalds is trying to get across with this. White people eating McDonalds in Japan are ignorant and indifferent to Japanese culture?

Actually that's probably true, but I imagine not the concept that they're trying to get across. Maybe it's actually aimed at white tourists; sick of all these weird people with their strange customs, languages and food? Come to McDonalds!

Maybe not, but they're probably loving the publicity it's giving them.

whats the big deal? there are way more nerds in Japan, and since over half of japanese people speak english, it should be more remarked that the japanese people in these commercials are jerks. this is just like some of the stereo type ad campaigns in america, most of which are funny if people could just stop being defensive about everything.
