obvious hoax and not very convincing...
maybe if they had better actors playing the guys dong the assaulting it would be believable.

Now I don't think violence is the option but when repeatedly told to get out of the man's face he kinda got what was coming to him. Imo it's not really that funny to invade peoples personal space. The premise of the joke was pretty funny with the Starwars characters coming in at every stop but did they really need to piss people off to get a laugh? Not really.

If it is an April fools, it's a very good one :D

Good for the riders. Jar Jar assaulted them and was repeatedly told not to touch him and he did. Jar Jar deserved the beating he got.

Lets say for the sake of debate that its real.

If you press charges on something like that then you do not belong to an Improv everywhere group, that is the most faggy you could do and it diminishes all the creditable you have for all over stunts you make.

i know this is an april fools joke, but this is to all the people who think that a beating would be justified if it was real,

ok, shouting in people's face is not ok,
unless you're jar jar binks,

i can understand being mad at someone for being really annoying,
but if they're fucking dressed up as a damn scifi character, then you don't get mad at him, you laugh at him,

also, major lols at darth maul walking in,

Awww... poor guy. I love improv. everywhere (well, the little that I've seen of them).

Anyway, he probably should have backed off when they told him too, but I still don't know what their problem was.

OT: A lot of people are saying it's an April Fools joke, but it kind of looks too real for me. If anything, it looks like an April Fool's joke gone wrong. Of course, IE like to com up with new ways to generate interest... still doesn't seem like their kind of thing.

I'd say this time they maybe made an error of judgement, even with it being an April Fool's thing.

(snip)

Maybe it's not for everyone, but they're not bad guys really, and just want to make fun and memorable days for people.
I don't think they're bad guys and I'm sure they think they're brightening peoples day but that's exactly the kind of thing that ruins events for me.

Guess I'm just a bit sad like that.

I wanna go with April Fools, mainly because if some big guy told me to get out of his face while I was wearing a Jar Jar Binks mask, I would. And not go in hi face, again, twice.

So it's been confirmed by Improveverywhere that it was an April Fool.

Okay.

I'm completely at a loss to see what the joke is.

All the video did was make them look like amateurish jerks who couldn't read the mood of their unwitting audience (a pretty important skill for any street performer I think) and 95% of the comments on Youtube and elsewhere have been variations on "the actor deserved it."

Then there's the other side of that... I wonder how the people who did express sympathy and concern for the actor's health feel now? I watched the Youtube comments for an hour or so last night and Improveverywhere were responding to comments, thanking people for their concern and issuing prissy statements that basically boiled down to "It's not our fault wahhhhh!"

Really, what the hell were they hoping to achieve with this? What sort of response did they actually expect?

Well, now that this has been confirmed as a joke, may I just state that I don't think it's funny?

There's two types of jokes. Those that belittle the reader, and those that amuse the reader at the expense of an innocent third party. This one sits squarely in the second corner.

I mean, Youtube is very regularly used to try and identify suspects in subway beatings and even expose condoned subway violence in some parts of the world, some videos of which have gone viral in America. This video is taking the piss out of the victims there and sure, if you said that argument was oversensitive then I'd understand. But more importantly, I think crap like this robs Youtube of value as a platform in these cases. Boy who cried wolf and all. So thanks guys. Really. Big. Thanks.

Can't blame the Escapist for giving this one attention though as they were unaware at the time, but sometimes things need to be said.

If not, agrivated assault. They can't press shit
Actually yes they can. It doesn't matter if they insult you or annoy you. You cannot hit them. The law uses a "don't stoop to their level" approach. Hell in some states breaking that law can prohibit you from owning a gun entirely.
Really? I'd think one punch to the face would've been fine, and if he still doesn't stop, go all out on him.

Yeah, I don't see why everyone's so upset. It's not like they just beat him up the first time he did it. Though to be fair, they probably should've just shoved him, and then if he didn't stop, proceed with the beating.

In fairness, the black guy did nothing. The black guy actually tried to stop the two white guys from going any further. But yeah this guy was a dumbass, it's just too bad he had to get his ass kicked for it.

EDIT: Oh hahahahaha okay, april fools, you got me. I guess everything done on april 1st should be taken with a grain of salt. See I don't mind this, I know some people are saying how it's not funny and shit but I actually think it's great. It's the kind of joke where you learn you were pranked and say "haha, touche, jar jar." And now I can watch it over and over again just to see Jar Jar binks punched in the stomach :)
