"Wait!" Alexander shouted, sounding very much unlike the version of himself Edgar had known.

"I have no issue with being told to leave, that is your right, but you must listen to me. These artifacts, they are not of your world, I suspect they are from mine. Some of them are also very much dangerous, at least to some beings. I was given a gift from a creature outside of my realm of understanding. Through a certain artifact it gained sentience, and it is what was dying.

Those daggers, they were bringing him into the physical world, but they also weakened him. Please, I am telling you the truth, you of all people should realize that I am not lying."

'Please do something, show them we are right. They will only believe the danger of these artifacts if we show them. What he will decide to do with them then I do not know, but we can't just have him believe these are mere innocent trinkets.' He asked himself as he moved over to the staff.

"Take this for instance. It is the staff of a mage who, when holding it, could control two elements at the same time. He was a mythological figure where I come from. You must realize these things are more than you know and hold great importance to my homeland. Things like these, they do not belong in this world, they are dangerous, and they will attract entities to your doorstep who will use them for terrible purpose sooner or later. I am sorry if I have angered you in some way, but these items, you need to get rid of them. Please, for the sake of the gods, do not keep a stockpile like this."

Drew didn't even wait for Edgar to respond before calling out Alexander. "You're hardly in a position to be making demands!" That he recognized the artifacts was certainly troubling, but right now they had other things to worry about. We have a job to do, Alexander. We don't have time to mire ourselves in local politics! "Look, I was going to bring up the artifact thing after the battle had ended. Try and explain things after the situation was under control." He said, trying to keep a decent presentation for Edgar. Had he looked, he might recognize a thing or two in there as well, but now wasn't the time.

"You know we have no ill intentions, but you have people to protect. All I ask is a chance to explain and elaborate things." he then shot another scowl at Alexander, speaking to him "NOT make demands or threats." At least not yet. Let him cool his head in battle before demanding he get rid of stuff he's held for who knows how long RIGHT AFTER HE'S SEEN YOU BROKE INTO A PRIVATE ROOM AND WHAT THE FUCK WERE YOU THINKING YOU IDIOT AAAAAAGH... Drew took a deep breath, trying to keep himself from shouting again.

Now that he was aware of just what was in that room, there was more reason than ever to try and speak to Edgar. "Again, I just want a chance to explain. It seems there are things at work here even you don't quite understand. And I would like this matter resolved in a way that benefits all parties involved." Drew knew full well that the castle had defenses up and ready. He himself had made sure of that. He was just hoping Alexander's current mood wouldn't lead to violence. Drew knew that it wouldn't end well, considering the castle's defenses. Don't make me do something I'll regret later...

Alexander's shadow hesitated a moment before coming to a small realization, he took a step back towards the relic room before suddenly stopping.

"Alexander...I would need to get close to the items once again for me to even be able to....properly do something, and I do not think Edgar is going to be following us back into any room anywhere any time soon...." The shadow sighed, obviously irritated to have now knowingly caused such problems, going back to the room, but stopping short of getting too close to the daggers and other artifacts.

"This...I am not sure, Alexander."

Meanwhile, Edgar paused as both Drew and Alexander both called for him to hold a moment, which made him pause from his walk away to regard the pair. He regarded both quietly, the warriors around him not moving as the mages seemed to disagree on their next course, which Edgar did not care for in the first place. However, Alexander's call for doing something with his items did not improve his mood, and even his guards took a small step away as he addressed their complaints once more.

"Alexander, you have been pleasant to speak with, but I will be deciding what is a threat to my kingdom, and an attraction to enemies." Edgar coldly began, regarding both mages even as he directed his messages towards one more than the other.

"And I would also like to think that I, who have held these artifacts longer than you have been here, would know better than what you have....discovered in the last few hours. And those who are burning through my doors for spirits are especially not providing a good impression of what their spirit is doing when I do not see these...creatures that you have prancing about with you. I consider that more dangerous than any item I have in my room if they will get themselves killed going where they shouldn't." Edgar regarded Alexander a moment longer before addressing Drew.

"As for you, Drew....I do not think you have much that you could say to me that would impress me any other way. However...you are correct that your assistance even allowed this particular meeting to even happen. In fact, I shouldn't even have to be in here having to make sure guests are not burning through my doors. Especially when I have someone with you who should be keeping you out of such trouble." For a moment, Edgar's gaze sweeps back to Jade, who doesn't move a muscle as the gaze swept back to Alexander and Drew.

"However..." Edgar rose a single finger as if it were the only thing keeping him from throwing them out himself. "...you have done enough to assist in the battle, with some effort to yourself. I also am not in the habit of being terribly unreasonable... I will be interested in your excuses, but you have only earned one night. I simply cannot afford guests who have spirits that they are willing to break into rooms that they should not be inside in the first place."

"Now, if you will excuse me, I have wasted time when there are plans that need tending to. Just because day one was easy does not mean day two will follow suit."

As Edgar turned, effectively ending the conversation with the mages, he wove to the two ladies who had accompanied him. "You get to decide who gets to keep watch, or find someone who will be doing it for you. Be quick about it!"

The pair of ladies looked at each other for a small while, seeming to gauge each other on who would be doing what. After the small moment, the swordswoman sighed and started off down the halls. As Onyx turned to look at the mages, her eyes eventually settled on Jade who fidgeted uncomfortably as she was being appraised by the dragon woman.

Seth found himself being somewhat suggested to go towards the rooms, which at this point he invited if for no other reason than to change and perhaps do a small bit of relaxation. As he went in, he found Raven closely following which brought a bit of a look from Rosa, which he avoided simply by closing the door. He didn't much care for her, but it was well enough that they had gone back to the rooms at least.

In the corner on a chair sat his things, which had apparently been cleaned, and supposedly his sword was taken care of too. With a small sigh, Seth returned his attentions to Raven who was still wearing her dress. The guest room with the bed, dresser, and side table was simple, with a few candles to help keep the room lit.

Without a word Seth decided to go back to where they left off, stepping close to Raven and wrapping his arms around her as he brought her up for another kiss. Slowly realizing that he might have stepped too quickly, he pulled back with a smile.

"Despite not liking that dress, you sure do like staying in it to follow me in here." Seth joked, also taking note of the lipstick that she wore as well. He only slightly hoped that it had not rubbed off from before. But only slightly.

"Or did I accidentally convince you that you should keep it...because I was being honest before you know." Seth continued, letting Raven back down as he just simply enjoyed holding her close just for the moment.

[hr]

As Joey was escorted to his room, Rosa oddly enough followed the mischief maker into the room, shutting the door as she regarded Joey a moment. After a small awkward moment, Rosa finally spoke.

"....do you need some tools or something? I get the feeling you won't last a minute out in the wilds, which is where you are likely going to be going." Rosa said finally. "While your dancing is something to be...improved upon, you at least have a bit of something going for you. It won't carry you through the wilds, which is why I offer, of course. Be a shame to send a guest out to just be eaten."

She crossed her arms, leaning back against the wall a moment longer seeming to be expecting an answer before she would leave. She still had not changed from her dress, but if there was one thing that was obvious it was that she had a fire about her now that there wasn't a party to consider any more.

[hr]

In the meantime, Silvana found herself finally being reunited with her shadow, who apparently seemed pleased to see Silvana after the party. As she walked back towards the Nightshade she found herself being hugged upon their reunion.

"I was....left to go where I wanted. The other shadows all...scattered. I didn't know what to do, so I looked around, and there....is a lot around here. Flowers, and gardens, and cells, and...many things. What have you seen? Do you know what we are doing here yet?" The shadow asked, obviously still quite new to her independence from silence around Silvana.

[hr]

Cale's shadow had also returned, regarding the Earthshaper quietly as he made his way into the room, sitting back for a moment before a thought finally echoed from the spirit in Cale's head. It didn't bear too much behind it, but more of a statement of observations and facts.

Your persistence is lacking, Cale. You have not tried to stay close, not done pursuit. You have waited, and watched...and I have seen things outside. We won't be able to stay here, and the outside areas are supposed to be dangerous. Are you prepared? Or are you going to give up?

The shadow was a little more confrontational than before, but obviously meant no real harm. The questions were more of a wondering as to what the next move was, or where things were going to go now that things were changing.

[hr]

"They have weapons to harm us. Or split us. The shadow Alexander did not fare so well being nearly close to the items. We need to get moving. Quickly." Shadow Nydia said, obviously no longer shy about her more realistic state with the turn of events that she had just witnessed and was reporting to her original.

"Also....there is something wrong with this world. I know that I was....unnaturally done. But I feel that the others are changing too, and not just because of what is in that room. It may not be safe outside, but it is not much safer in here. And....the shadow Cale regarded me oddly before I began exploring. Is there...something I should be aware of? Something that is amiss among the others? I noted some....odd behaviors from others too."

'You are right, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have expected you to possibly cause yourself harm. It is just frustrating to not be listened to because something hasn't happened to the one you are trying to warn yet. You get used to it somewhat as a healer but it is always greatly annoying.' He thought to his shadow before speaking aloud.

"If it is all the same to you, I will heed my own advice. I will gather my things and seek residence with Kane's men for the night. Besides we have helped you with your map of the gates and you gave us information about where we need to go. All cordial business has been completed in this case, and it is rather obvious my welcome is tenuous at best." With that Alexander bowed and immediately started to his room to gather his things, taking Jade with him so that they might talk relatively privately.

"I know you saw what I saw. I make no apologies for my actions, and if it would help you avoid punishment you may portray me however you need to. I don't expect you to leave relative safety to stay with me, considering we barely know each other. Though I do suggest you take my warning to Edgar very seriously. Edgar is a smart man but I am sure I know more about magical artifacts, and what people will do to acquire such things, than he does. The ones he keeps in that room, many mages would be likely to kill to gather objects of such power."

"And what might your name be, beautiful?"

As the grubby looking man grabbed a hold of her hand, Raven couldn't help but shudder internally, and possibly a bit externally as well. He did call me beautiful though...no, no. Still no. No.

"Taken," she answered Joey, as she pulled her hand back from him. "But it will be Pain if you grab my hand again without my permission."

Seth seemed to take the reins from there as the more easy-going of the pair navigated the conversation until one of the maids came to usher the mages to their respective rooms.

The maid, Rosa she said, led them up to their chambers. Raven paused in front of hers. At least it was right next door to Seth's but at the time that didn't seem like enough. No. I think I'm ready to keep pushing. She stopped for but a second before she went over to where Seth stood. Rosa gave her a look of derision, which Raven didn't appreciate. What the fuck you looking at? Stuck up *****. Go back to your life of servitude and keep forfeiting your will. Don't look at me like you could possibly be judging me. Stupid little sheep fascist. Any animosity towards Rosa evaporated as the door was shut behind the two mages.

There was a second of silence as the two stood in the room. I should say something. Before Raven could even open her lips to form a word, Seth was on them, pressing them shut in another kiss. Raven almost melted into his arms then and there as she returned fire, but Seth retreated quicker than she would have liked.

"Despite not liking that dress, you sure do like staying in it to follow me in here. Or did I accidentally convince you that you should keep it...because I was being honest before you know."

Raven turned her head away slightly as she tried to think up a proper answer for the thought. I guess I forgot about the dress. Seems so trivial now. "Well..." I am right next door, I can always get my robes later. If the dress gets me this, then it's better anyway. "If I were going to keep it, it's going to be tough to keep it pristine when we're on the road." She looked back up into Seth's face, just noticing how much redder his lips were compared to the rest of his face. Oh wow, is that my lipstick? Did he walk around the castle like that? She tried to stifle a giggle but failed. That's really funny. "I might have accidentally convinced you that crimson is definitely a perfect shade to make your lips stand out, so I guess we're even on that count."

[hr]

Shadow tried her best to enjoy the moment with Seth, but the tugging was becoming very strong. Still, it wasn't tugging away from him. That gave her some comfort. "We should probably leave, my love. The force, it is growing so strong. We would do best to obey it. I think we'll still be able to enjoy each other's company anyway."

Drew was relieved when Alexander excused himself, glad to see at least one problem was taking care of itself. We weren't planning on staying more than a night, anyway. At least I don't think we were. Mentioning that "all cordial business was completed" made him sigh and shake his head Sure, just make sure I have no leverage at all... He took a second to let Alexander get out of the way before speaking to the present maids.

"I'll be heading to my room. Perhaps it'd be best if you keep this matter between us and Edgar. No need to let my companions know. They don't even know about the door, and it'd be better if it stayed that way." He had to admit, while he thought Alexander had a point about the dangerous nature of the artifacts, he thought that the Light mage wasn't seeing the whole picture. But that could wait until his negotiations with Edgar.

He gave a quick bow and went off to his room. "I trust you'll let Lord Edgar know where I am. Futhermore, I'm not to be distubred." his mind wandered, first to Fei, then to Alice, then to the other group of mages who had arrived at the castle. He stopped and turned around. "Actually... on second thought, let them know where I'll be. There's some stuff I need to talk about with certain folks. And if anyone asks, Alexander is in one of the studies. If they check, just say he's in another one."

He then resumed his trip, arriving at where he'd be staying. He went in, leaving the door unlocked and checking to see where his robes were. Instead, he saw a small note. Couldn't stand looking at those old rags any longer. Getting you a better outfit. You'll just love it! Onyx. Drew sighed, not even frustrated at this point. Besides, I've had those robes since I became a mage. I could use a wardrobe update. He jumped onto his bed, looking up at the ceiling and hoping he could get a handle on things. Of course I've gotta be the one to clean up someone else's mess.

[hr]

Drew's shadow decided to follow Alexander, keeping just enough distance that he wouldn't bother him or interrupt any conversations he was having. It just floated on by lazily, letting things happen around him.

First thing Horatio noticed upon entering his room, was his clothes laid out in a neat fashion on his bed. Seemed the staff went out of their way to renew the particular articles, which really surprised the rogue Earthshaper. The clothes were clean, the holes, tears, and frills in his pants and shawl were patched up flawlessly, and his shirt (the white button-up which had ripped shreds in place of sleeves) fixed to the point that it seemed entirely new. They even left him with new pairs of wrappings for his hands and feet.

"Wow." Suffice to say, Joey was impressed. "Surprising, seeing as I've done nothing but disrespect/get disrespected." Nonetheless, he was fairly grateful for the act. Too enamored in his new clothes, Joey failed to realize Rosa had followed him in.

"....do you need some tools or something?" He spun, his action-ready pose easing down once he realized he wasn't in trouble. As she talked he took solace in the comfort of his bed, plopping down into the mattress. A bit of a muffled sigh escaped him as he listened to her emasculate him further.

"God is she hot, but MAN, she is exhausting to be around!" "Well, since you have this amazing foresight about my potential future, what do you suggest I should take with me? In terms of tools, I mean. I've survived this long with just sharp rocks and dirt, but if you really think i'd need extra help past this point, then yeah, i'm all for it. Thank you Rosa, thanks for all your help." He took long, slow blinks as he looked in her direction. It was hard to distinguish if he were being sarcastic or not. Even he didn't know at this point. "Kinda surprised she's doing this, to be honest. She didn't really seem like the caring type. Still doesn't, actually."

Nydia followed Onyx to the room she was being given, bidding her farewell and thanking her for everything one last time before entering. Once inside she found her robes laid out on the bed just as Onyx had said. They seemed to be in much better condition than when she had arrived as well. She had much enjoyed the lovely dress but given the situation it simply wouldn't be prudent to continue wearing it. With a bit of reluctance Nydia removed the dress, folded it, and carefully placed on the bed before putting her robes back on.

As she was wondering what to do next, she noticed Shadow Nydia had entered the room as well. She went to greet her shadow but was shocked into silence when her shadow spoke to her first. "They have weapons to harm us. Or split us. The shadow Alexander did not fare so well being nearly close to the items. We need to get moving. Quickly." Nydia had a number of questions about this but decided they could be saved for later. She simply nodded and left the room.

Though she had no idea where to go from there. She was still unfamiliar with the layout of the castle and she wanted to at least meet up with some of the others before leaving. "Does anyone besides you or Alexander's shadow know about this? We should warn them as well." She asked her shadow, picking a direction to go and hoping to find someone. "Also... Regarding your question earlier. I haven't noticed anything odd about the others, but I know Cale and his shadow were a bit weary of you because of how you changed after the deal I made. As for the rest... Well I really couldn't say. Perhaps it is the effect of this world as you say."

"Still, the fault is mine, Alexander. I should have been much more careful in my explorations, but this castle and world are....different. I wanted to see the things in these halls, and in this room. I did not....consider that possibly things would be harmful as well." The shadow still sounded frustrated as they began to go onward, noting the lazily drifting shadow of Drew lingering behind.

"I...still think that things are largely changing around us. I'm not sure what it is, but things seem....different with the others. Myself included, but....I do not appreciate the changes without any warning. Especially in my...relatively short existence."

Jade laughed as she saw what Alexander was doing as trying to apologize to her at this point, and wandered almost happily out of the sight of Onyx at least while Alexander was going to collect his things. As soon as she was sure she was out of range of Onyx, she responded.

"My silly Lord Alexander, you are far too hopeful. My punishment has already likely been chosen, and I don't think any lies I could tell about you or my involvement would do anything about that." Jade shook her head as Alexander went into how Edgar should do something with his artifacts.

"I think you don't realize how long Lord Edgar has been collecting these things. I could tell him that one would blow holes in the castle and he would hold on to it all the same because it might be useful someday. And I don't have his ear like you think I do...besides, I think it will be a lot more fun in travelling around with you. If you would have me, of course."

Jade hesitated as she posed the last of her thoughts, obviously looking for some kind of reaction from Alexander as they went to his room and found his robes assembled and cleaned, along with his pack. "Of course, if it was fine, I might....need to grab a few things."

[hr]

Seth smiled as Raven turned away, as he now knew that he had caught her off guard with that quick question. Though, it seemed that she had also noticed what he had just realized as well. He could only guess how he looked, and the giggle confirmed that it was likely as outstanding as he assumed.

"Well, red is one of my primary colors....so I think I might be winning a little on that front." Seth replied, resisting the now growing feeling that he should wipe it it off on the sleeve of his shirt. She had a point that they might not be able to use them, but...it was nice to play dress up a bit. That illusion of flair was something he hadn't really done, and wasn't sure if that was what he was doing right in the first place.

"Now, what would you want to follow a silly pyro into his room for? Maybe you are a bit more tired than I give you credit for..." Seth began, taking a few small steps to get over to the bed with Raven and taking a seat. Finally sitting back, he suddenly realized he was....relaxed with her here. Even in the strange land, and all that had happened so far. He cocked his head as he suddenly heard a storm rolling in. It seemed that the weather did do some changes around here.

"I guess we'll be spending some time here. Want to lay down for a bit, or did you really need to do something instead?" Seth posed, tossing his vest off to the side, obviously not intending to stay in the suit while he was in this private room. He had a lot of thoughts running at this point, but for now he really just wanted to relax, and lay back with Jenn and...enjoy an evening in this strange world.

"I have an odd question for you...think I'd make a good pillow? Might need to remove the stiff suit, but...figure I might as well ask now!" Seth continued with a laugh, suddenly realizing how...serious that they had been. He hoped that she hadn't felt...rushed off in this.

This is gonna be one of those things which I won't likely get again. Here is to hoping that I don't mess it up.

[hr]

"Yes....Away we must go. I will step first, just to be safe." Seth's shadow said, finally drifting a small amount away so that he could peer out into the halls alone. They seemed clear, which was all he needed to see. Not like they really had to worry about being noticed....but he wanted to be sure, just in case. Drifting back, he now pulled the shadow Raven with himself as they began to make their way back to the castle grounds.

As they began to walk, arms wrapped around each other, they noted a few things coming back. First was Edgar obviously storming back outside, only to have to start shouting at the troops to make their way back inside as a storm began brewing. Thunder and lightning began to come down, making quite the show outside from the extremely calm that had been present before.

"Mmm...Feels a little better as we get back to them. Still, so much seems to be going on. Careful, love. I do not trust this world, even as I do not trust the Alexander shadow either... And I would rather be sure we don't run into anything...difficult. As it seems....everyone is coming inside, and...hm, what is going on over there?" Seth's shadow gestured towards Drew as he passed along his instructions on leaving and where Alexander was going to a study. As Drew went into his room, Nydia proceeded out of hers with the shadow in tow.

"....No, none of the others know of the situation except for Drew who was...present for when punishment was handed for for attempting to interfere with the items. Which is why I suggested we get moving...." The shadow Nydia said to her other self, obviously in a kind of conversation before coming across the other shadows.

The shadows locked gazes for a moment, with Nydia's displaying an obvious amount of distrust towards the pair, with a raised eyebrow at their closeness as they approached the light mage walking down the hall.

".....Something amiss, Nydia?" Seth said, wondering how surprising it would be for the other woman to hear another Seth speak.

Behind the shadowy pair waited the dragon maid from before, in full armor this time though, and having heard Drew's instructions and was looking back at Nydia expectantly, as if awaiting a question that she already knew the answer to for her arrival.

[hr]

Rosa laughed as Joey went to the bed and actually thanked her for offering some assistance to him. Waving a finger at him, she smiled in a way that hinted at more mischief.

"Don't get soft on me now, troublemaker. I'm certain you didn't get this far on showing appreciation. But if you want my expert opinion, it would be to have some supplies like your other compatriots have. Looked like some foodstuffs, and just....general things from home probably." Rosa said with a nod.

"So, if you would like, I'll go do you a favor, and that way when you have to leave you'll be prepared..." Rosa continued, stopping to listen as the storm outside became obvious. "Huh...storm already. Didn't realize it was so late. Regardless, I'm guessing that you just want to enjoy the bed for the small while that you have it, so unless you have something else, my good troublemaker, I'll be taking my leave..."

[hr]

With the storm finally rolling forward, the battle had apparently stopped. Many of the centaurs and spirits began to go back to their camp, as Edgar's girls and soldiers seemed to be doing much the same, except they had a much easier and faster walk to just get away from the lightning and storm rolling through. While many of the girls seemed very pleased about the fight overall, they still came in armored and ready for anything, with many stone soldiers taking their spots by the gate, with a few of the maids sticking around as well.

However, some were making their ways back to a few rooms in particular, and some had a few particular plans in mind with the guests that were quickly being rumored to being kicked out after damaging the castle, or breaking some rooms, or trying to steal from Edgar.

Drew had spent the next few minutes sitting around. A less cynical person would describe what he was doing as meditation, but there was hardly any thought or reflection going on. He had realized that he had sobered up since the party. He was barely buzzed during the whole thing, but recent events certainly made him notice himself going back to 'normal'. He took a deep breath, getting up. "Fuck this. I need a drink."

He stepped out, trying to think of where to go to get what he wanted. He caught sight of Nydia, waving to her. "Yo! Gettin' a drink. You can join me if you want!" He said, not even waiting for a response before walking off. He hoped she'd follow, but wasn't expecting it. It'd be nice to have someone to talk to who won't cause any more stress.

He arrived at a place where several bottles of wine were placed, clearly waiting to be stored away by someone else. He heard a couple of maids gossiping about the recent events and he groaned. Have to spell everything out, don't I? What part of "between us and Edgar" didn't they get?! he grabbed the nearest bottle of wine, the same kind he had from the party. He opened it and took a swig of it. "Don't know why I even bother..." he growled.

The rest of the night was a blur. Cale couldn't tell whether it was the alcohol or his own lack of resistance to alcohol. All he remembered was asking where his room was and once he found it, he found more comfortable clothes to fit into as the suit was making it hard for him to breathe. He left his room less buzzed than earlier wearing bland but comfortable clothes. The maids nearby shook their heads at his change of outfit but as he regained his senses, he sensed a definite change in the atmosphere. Then his shadow spoke... or rather he heard its thoughts.

"We need to leave... This twisted place holds many secrets... and we have only scratched the surface of it all."

Cale thought that he was hallucinating, his face showed worry as he thought that there must have been something in the air as well but as he focused, he saw his shadow adjacent to him.

"Your senses are coming back... that is good." His shadow said, flickering and moving as the light did around Cale. "We need to get going. I do not like this place. "

"Neither do I but where to? It is either here or outside." Cale whispered to his shadow. He didn't want to alarm any of the staff at his whispering to his shadow so he sat down at a bench with his head down, regaining his head. "Even if we need to, we need the others."

"Then get moving.."

With that, Cale got up and straightened himself up. He asked for the directions once more but this time back to where he came from. Normally his sense of direction was what he was proud of but the energy of this place played havoc on his sense of direction. With some help, he found the bar after some navigating the halls. On the way, he noticed several maids armed with stone golems walking about the place. This played more to his shadow's cryptic messages so Cale also became more uneasy as the alcohol died down. He saw the familiar shape of Drew drinking wine so he focused on him and approached. If there was a man more willing to go then it was him.

"Drew!" Cale called out to him. "This place keeps getting stranger each second we are inside this castle. If only we were any close to getting out of here..."

Drew had just finished another sip, remembering just how strong this stuff was. "Whew..." he said, taking a seat as Cale called out to him. As he approached, Drew poured out a glass this time, setting it down. "Place certainly is odd. Had a bunch of doodads for me to power up. But don't worry about it. We're leaving in the morning. I know it's uneasy, but there's one hell of a storm going on outside, and not all of us have the luxury of being able to rip our own shelter from out of the ground."

He took a moment to reflect on his choice of words, letting out a sigh. He was just trying to make a conversation. Doesn't even know what happened. "Look... I'm sorry about that. I got some business with Edgar to deal with, and I really would prefer to not make the others go out in this. I know Fei might have some fun in the rain, but I personally can't stand it." He said, grinning to try and lighten the mood. "Still, I know you weren't exactly fond of this place since we first got here. Alexander is heading out to spend the night with Kane's people. Maybe you could join him."

He then pulled up a seat, gesturing for Cale to sit with him. "But first, perhaps a quick drink? If nothing else, I'd appreciate the company." With the festivities over and the storm raging outside, the castle seemed eerie. Perhaps it had always been that way, and he hadn't noticed because he was with Alice. Regardless, he was hoping Cale would join him, or Nydia would arrive, or Seth or Gabriel or Alice or someone. "Can't sleep. I'm just having one more glass, and I'd rather not drink alone. But you don't need to stay on my behalf."

"Well then I suggest you grab your things, and remember to pack light. We'll need to do quite a bit of walking to get to where we need to be. While you gather your things I'm going to write a letter and leave it for one of the others. It seems most of them would rather stay the night here. When you have your things meet me at the gates, we'll wait for Kane's men and travel with them.

Also I never thought he would destroy the artifacts, nor would I want him to. But keeping them all in the exact same place is too potentially dangerous for me. Even if nothing does happen, I'd rather be wrong about just how dangerous it is rather than wrong about how safe it is." He said as he changed and placed the suns back onto his robes. He then sat down to write the letter while speaking to his shadow.

We've all been through a lot recently. I can certainly understand the dislike of rapid and major change. I still don't hold you at fault, I doubt you could have known what would happen. We just need to look out for each other above all else and be cautious. As he thought he wrote the letter containing information as to why he was gone, his concerns in staying there, and relaying the information he had gathered including where it was they needed to go and the possibility of Kane giving them passage. He also made sure to mention the possibility of other mages here who were capable of magic on par with if not greater than their own as it seemed to him.

With that done he sealed the letter, stood up, gathered his things, and slipped the letter under Seth's door. He then continued to walk through the halls until he reached the gates to the castle's walls.

Shadow stayed silent as she clung to Seth's side upon spotting one of the light mages. The contentious relationship she had with the light was showing, as her eyes narrowed a bit, but she wasn't as defensive as she usually was, not with Seth at her side. Still, she didn't want to risk saying anything to a non-shadow that wasn't her own...or Seth's own. Seth on the other hand took the initiative, so Shadow waited for the result of the conversation.

As Raven moved with Seth towards his bed and took up a seat on it alongside him, she noticed he seemed to be rather loose. Or maybe he wasn't. He seemed to be asking a lot of questions. Before she could even respond, Seth was onto a new topic. It seemed like his mind was racing to churn out topics, but not letting them rest. He needs to relax some more.

After he took off his vest and asked his final question, Raven put her right index and middle fingers on Seth's lips. "Seth, hun, you talk too much," she told him as she leaned in to give him another long kiss. She put more effort into this one, making sure she pressed deeply as she slid her arm back around his torso to bring him in closer for a moment before releasing. "But I guess I can try and answer all your questions, if that's all you really want from me."

After giving a teasing smile, Raven swung around and laid down on the far side of the bed. "Hmmmm, let's see. Why would I follow a pyro into his room. I think I actually might have already answered that one. Do I need to do something or would I rather just lay down? Actually I think I've answered that one too. Two out of three already done. Leave it to a Nightshade to be more efficient at acquiring info than a Pyro."

"As for," she rolled over onto her side to face Seth, a far easier move than it was back at the Academy. "Your pillow question. Hmmmm, well I'm going to guess you're not as good as a pillow as I am." Although it's closer now. My gut's not sticking out to my boobs now. Hell I think even laying down it's not even at that level anymore. I actually look top heavy instead of all heavy. Still more cushion than Seth, but still. "But I have a natural advantage there." She propped herself up on her right arm. "However, you are certainly a lot warmer than I am, so you have a lot more comfort." She used her left arm to work one of the straps of the empire dress down over her shoulder. "You're so warm I think it's started to rub off on me. Which, you know, I didn't think was ever possible. So I think," Raven put her left arm at the top of Seth's left shoulder and traced it down the silken shirt-clad arm. "You would make an excellent pillow, Seth."

Jade gave Alexander a small look when he mentioned going with Kane's men, but shrugged and got going to her rooms to likely do a small amount of packing. After Alexander had slipped his note to the door and made his way to the gate, Jade turned a corner and began making her way towards the entrance as well. She looked quite different from how she was before, seeming to still insist on showing off her assets even with the leather armor which she wore, but it covered all the important parts. It was surprisingly plain compared to the other outfits she had been wearing before, with boots made more for travel, a bag slung over a shoulder likely with a few trinkets, and what appeared to be a whip at her side.

"Well, Lord Alexander...I am here, but I found it odd that you would think that Kane's men would even come close to here. We are in the middle of a 'war' right now. So, if we want to run into any of them, we'll need to do some moving..." Jade said, and made good on her statement and got walking towards the general direction of the centaur's camp.

Once a small distance away, and getting somewhat soaked in the process, they were suddenly approached by a few centaurs.

"HEY! Look at that! Its one of those bastards who are making life hard for us!" One said as they approached, raising a bow as if intending to fire before his companion knocked it away.

"Don't be an ass. Edgar got em before they even knew, and besides....they're outside now eh?" The other said, getting closer and giving a small wave.
"Hey, since ya were kicked out, wanna go see something special? We got a fiery little thing just over the hill there. Apparently found something suitably fiery to tangle with this evening! Real rare treat as we don't see the creatures out that often. Our treat! And you can even make some bets if you wanna!"

Without saying a word more, they took off towards another hill where a few other spirits had apparently already gathered to watch whatever was going on the other side. Jade, obviously confused with the customs of the centaurs, gave a shrug and waited to see where Alexander planned on going.

In the meantime, the shadow had followed along quietly, obviously feeling even worse now that they were going into the rain and storm that he now felt even more responsible for.

[hr]

As Raven put her fingers to his lips, he paused with any thought that he had running as if that was exactly what he needed. Which was wrong as Raven leaned in for a longer, deeper kiss, wrapping an arm around him to bring him that much closer. ....I really need to relax. No more hiding and hesitation, Seth.

"All perfect answers. Seems that they do teach you Nightshades something in the shadows." Seth replied, moving to laying next to Raven as she propped herself on her right side on the bed, tracing down his arm as she moved to get out of one of the straps of her dress.

"But I think we might need to do a bit more checking about you being the better pillow." Seth continued, moving to unbutton and toss off his shirt. "Hmmmmmmm. Doesn't seem fair of you to stay in the dress, does it? Especially when my warmth is rubbing off on you, it must be getting pretty hot." Seth wrapped an arm underneath Raven, pulling her on top of him and giving him a chance to pull down the second strap. With her now on top, it took nothing to pull her head close for another kiss.

"There....we go...That line up with...your info, my Nightshade?" Seth couldn't help but give a cheeky grin. Maybe he did talk too much, but he couldn't help it at this point as she stared back with her brown eyes, dress now partially undone.

"But you don't need to stay on my behalf."

"For a friend," Cale said, accepting Drew's invitation and patting him on the back. Cale returned Drew's grin with his own. "Anything."

Cale got a glass and poured some wine. He drank a sip before remembering how he reacted the last time he drank it so he didn't sip too much. He took time to read into Drew's words, hearing that he had spoken to Edgar and some of them had to leave. He also mentioned Alexander leaving with Kane to venture out in the storm. The prospect interested him since Cale couldn't find anything else to do in this castle unless Drew had anything else on his chest.

"Leaving the castle with a storm like this one certainly is risky." Cale admitted. "Not only that but our new "friends" need watching out. I don't trust anything in this new land anyway but that's just my personal preference. I'm sure the others might want to go."

Cale took another light sip, thinking on his words.

"If your sister is going out then why can't I?" Cale said jokingly. "You don't have to make the others go, the ones that want to leave will leave with me being one of them. As of right now, anywhere is better than this castle. It's too cramped in here..." He took another sip, waiting for Drew's opinion.

He smiled as Cale sat down, glad to have the company of someone respectable. "Honestly, I feel the opposite way. Place seems too damn big for its own good." he muttered, taking a few sips himself. "Still, I'd rest easier knowing someone was keeping Alexander out of trouble while I get to sleep in a nice warm bed." he said, nudging Cale jokingly. "But we can't stay here anyway. We've got a job to do, after all."

The thought of things back home made his mind wander. There was a bit of idle chit-chat, but it quickly died down. The two were just about done, but Drew's thoughts came to a certain point. Something from before they had arrived here. Recent events, however, made him a little more willing to voice his curiosity.

He spoke, not even making eye contact. "Listen... Cale... you don't have to answer this. But I figured I might ask." He left a little of his drink, sitting up. "Back at the trials... the thing offering us stuff. You asked for something. Information of a sort. Something important to you." He didn't want to come right out and say it. That way he could leave Cale an out if he didn't want to talk about it. "And you didn't take it. Despite the fact that you might not get another chance." He turned over, actually looking at him now "I know it's none of my business, but I just want to know... why?"

Alexander let out a sigh of relief as they left.

"I figured with the display here we might catch a few of the drunker ones as they went back to camp. I don't mind the walk, just so long as I'm away from that place. If it is dangerous to my shadow, gods only know what could be waiting in that place for somebody like me. I'll take my chances with the beasts rather than coming across an artifact which may do something terrible to me. Not to mention I still think that place will someday face an attack it can't handle, and that it'd be best to not be there when it happens." He didn't look back as they started down the road. When the centaurs approached them he raised his hands a little in a show that he meant no harm.

"Well however we would be making life hard for you it won't be the battle. We were explicitly told to not get involved, and at this point I'm happy to sit it all out. As for this show you say is out there, lead the way." He figured this would be a good first step to getting to know the group they may very well be traveling with.

"Besides, I was hoping to stay at your camp anyway. The forests are dangerous at night, and without the "safety" of the castle walls, I find myself in need of a new place to sleep. Who knows, I might even be able to help you before the battle starts. I was told to stay out of the battle, nothing was said about healing the injured before and after the battle." His tone made it clear how safe he thought the castle actually was.

Horatio was hesitant to react (or even reply) to the mistress. Confusion was a bit of understatement for the rogue, as he tried to make more sense of her implications. "Ugh! She's throwing out too many conflicting signals! I...can't....!" He let out a frustrated huff before springing to his feet. "Y'know what?" "Fuck it." "Let's both go get these items." "This is me giving up." "Feel like I'd end up missing out on something if I just stayed here." "You win Rosa, you wore me down." He approached her at the threshold, holding a hand out for the woman. "We'll play it your way." "Lead the way, pretty miss." His smile was modest, almost unnaturally so for him.

Name: (Lady) Claire Estobel

Age: 28

Gender: Female

Mastery: Airshifting

Rank: Claire never attended the academy and as such has no official status, but is equivalent to a Mage roughly.

Appearance: Claire is 6'1, built tall and willowy. She's pale-skinned and wears her white-blonde hair long, roughly down to mid-back. Her eyes are a bright gray. Her face has high, strong cheekbones and a prominent chin and jaw, full lips. She has a modestly sized but nicely formed bust, toned, athletic muscles, and long legs.

At the moment she is dressed in black calf-high leather riding boots, brown leather trousers, a white linen shirt, over which she wears a royal blue long-sleeved jacket, with brown leather gloves covering her hands. Around her neck is a steel-chained necklace from which hangs the sigil of House Estobel, the snowy owl. The clothes are in rather bad shape - the boots are scuffed and well worn, there's a number of tears and rips on her pants and jacket, and a bloody stain going down her right arm.

At her right hip is sheathed a rapier, forty-six inches long. The grip is ebony over a teardrop-style pommel, protected with an intricate latticework of steel that forms the guard over the grip and the first two inches of the blade. The blade is simple steel, long and slender with a wickedly sharp point and edges.

At her left hip is a dagger, with an unusually large crossguard and a thin, sharp blade.

Skill: Owing to her upbringing Claire is well educated, erudite, and well mannered. She's modestly capable in most of the tongues spoken in civilized parts of the world. More germane, her chosen profession has resulted in her being an expert dungeoneer - she has exceptional agility and flexibility, a talent for noticing small details, a talent for climbing, balance on small ledges and tightropes, and acrobatics heightened by her wind magic.

Claire is an expert swordswoman, well trained in battle with the rapier and supplementing it with her airshifting skill.

Demeanor: Claire is a well-mannered and courteous lady, a flower of the courts and ballrooms. She is also a well-traveled explorer, delver of many an ancient ruin and first boot on many a lost isle. She is a fighter born, stubborn and proud and brave. She's very English.

History: The Estobel Clan traces their lineage back a long, long ways, and have held the Duchal rank and the lands along the northern border of the Kingdom of Adanal for as long as Adanal has existed.

Claire, the most recent child of House Estobel (fourth child of a second son, sixth in line of succession to the Duchal title) developed one of the manifestations of the Estobel's long history - a history of magical prowess, even if it tends to skip generations. Due to their wealth, power, and distaste for the Academy Claire was instead tutored by a hired Air Mage.

After reaching her majority Claire elected to put her powers to some use, and given the rather low odds of her ever having authority beyond a marriage contract in the affairs of House Estobel. She began to travel the world, and earned a name for herself exploring the many ruins on the world, becoming a rather famed explorer and adventuress.

The recent call for mages in Kerbones drew her attention, and she made her way there to volunteer to travel through the portal. Along with a handful of others she ventured through, and hasn't been heard from since.

In situations like this Claire liked to look on the brighter side. It was true that she was trapped with no means of escape in a world of hellish nightmares, and it was true that she hadn't slept more than a handful of minutes in two days, and it was certainly true that the few spots on her body that weren't aching, throbbing, burning, bleeding, or bruised were parts she couldn't remember the names of.

But, she thought to herself with wry humor, at least she had lived long enough to die at the hands of a screeching hairless ape-demon thing.

For perhaps the millionth time since arrival in this miserable hole she wished she had been gifted with a form of magic that could actually kill things.

The two had been fighting for several minutes now, neither looking all that much better for it. On one hand Claire had a deep gash across her forehead that was running blood into one eye, thick enough that the pounding rain only served to spread the blood around, and besides that was nursing a number of other injuries - a gash in her left arm, a twisted ankle, bruises and cuts, scrapes and thorns.

The Ape-Demon had his own problems - thick black fluid coated Claire's rapier, the rain seeming unable to break up the tar-like blood. More was slowly trickling out of a number of wounds across his body, deep gashes and punctures, a dozen wounds that should have been fatal.

The beast was weakening, but Claire was already tired, hungry, and hurt. Her survival was anything but sure.

The beast let out a high-pitched screech and ran at her, the monster's thin limbs and shambling gait hiding surprising strength and grace. She twisted as he approached, pivoting on her heel and bringing her leg around in a kick that carried the wind with it.

That was the plan, anyway. Instead her wounded ankle finally gave up and folded under her, dropping her to the ground with all the grace of a sack of potatoes. She rolled onto her front and came up on one knee, striking forward as she did and catching a strip of the beast's skin as it leapt on her, spilling a gout of the tar-blood onto her as it smashed into her, the thick, blunt teeth scraping along her scalp as they fell in a tangle of limbs. The rapier dropped from her hands and she went for her dagger, her other scrabbling for the beast's own neck.

The knife was stuck, pinned between their two bodies, and she couldn't free it. Couldn't hope to out-grapple it. One option left. She shoved her head forward with all her might, forcing it under the beast's chin and latching onto the thick, leathery flesh of his neck, her teeth digging through, shaking and ripping and tearing and...

The beast lurched back, black fluid gushing from the divot in his neck, where the mouthful of foul monster flesh she was spitting out used to be. Somewhere in Claire's mind she thanked the Gods she couldn't taste anything except her own blood right now. Drawing her knife she braced herself - it would try again soon. The beast was hurt, but it was angry and hungry enough that it didn't care.

She wouldn't be able to pull that trick a second time. Unless that neck wound was worse than it seemed in a few moments she would be dead.
