Fei was led back to her room, but she didn't really want to go in. She was gonna go and follow Seth around, but that Nightshade went with him into his room. Yuck. Since she wasn't gonna be anywhere close to Raven, she peeked inside her room. Yup. Gabriel was still inside. Fei had most of her things... Oh! Drew said I had to give this to Alexander! [small]"Evie! Evie?"[/small] Fei ran back down the hall, the opposite way the maid had gone down, looking for Evie in her best indoor voice.
"Fei?"
Fei found Evie creeping around, same as her. "Evie! There you are. Come on, we gotta find-"
"They kicked Alexander out!"
"What?"
"Alexander was trying to steal, and they caught him, and then he left with one of the maids! I just saw them!"
"But I have to get this to Alexander..." Fei took out the book and showed Evie.
"Oh... but he just left... we should hurry up if we're going to catch him. This way! There's a couple of guards around, but I found a way past!"
As they got closer to the outside of the castle, Fei noticed the rain. It was just like normal rain back home, like the lake water! "Wait, if we're going out, I need a raincoat! Or else the book will get wet!" Evie had to pause for a second, since she hadn't had to deal with the problems of "rain".
"Okay, I'll... try and find one. Just wait here for a sec, ok?" Evie went through the walls, trying to make sure the doors to them were unlocked, but most of the clothing were in locked rooms. Fei meanwhile wasn't going to sit and wait for Evie to get back, and kept going down the hallway. It would be easy for Evie to find her then, all she had to do was keep going! Fei tried all the doors in the hallway, but they were all locked up tight. A few times she found an open one, but they either led to more hallways or small closets with brooms and mops and stupid cleany stuffs. Finally, Fei came to a door that led outside. No coat. Fei experimentally put her hands out in the rain, creating a sort of water shield umbrella. keeping a disc of water hovering above her hands so the rain hit it and flowed off, kind of like a real umbrella! After a few seconds it began to leak though, dripping through until Fei finally just let it go. The airborne puddle made a nice splash when it hit the mud. She wouldn't be able to go very far using just her magic...
Fei turned around, deciding to find out if Evie had found anything, and was met with what looked like a big dark demon. "Waaaaaah!" Fei hurled the muddy puddle she had dropped at the thing.
"PFFFFT! Hay! You! Small girl!"
Fei tried to dart around the figure, only to be snatched up by her arm.
"Do you think you're clever? Sneaking around the castle like. A. Shadow."
It lifted her up. It, was the maid Fei had seen earlier, the one that took Seth and them earlier.
"What are you doing? Going to go out in the rain? Lord Edgar let's you stay here, and everyone runs off like. Little. Cockroaches." Onyx tucked Fei under her arm, kicking the door closed and walking back into the castle.
"Noooo, I don't wanna go back to my room!" Fei kicked and squirmed.
"Haha! Such a little worm! Where are you going then, little worm?"
Fei didn't like being called "little". "I have a super secret missiiiion I need to doooo" she whined, resorting to trying to budge the dragon lady's solid grip.
"So you're going out in the rain, without any supplies, any protection..."
"I need to find Alexaaaaander"
Onyx cupped her chin in thought.
"Alexander, the troublemaker Jade has to suffer with now... they ran out without so much as a goodbye! So rude."
"I neeeed a cooooat"
"Eloping like secret lovers! Hah! This will be the most exciting news. In. Months. To. Come."
The dragon lady was really warm, her armor was warm, and the mud was already starting to cake in places.
"Do you know why we don't fight during the rains, little worm? It's very hard to maneuver. It's very wet. But something tells me you're happy in that torrent. Hahah! Such a fiery little worm! Either very brave, or very. Stupid. I'll make you a deal, little worm, how does that sound!"
"I'm not little!"
"Jade ran off before I could give her something myself, and it will probably help her and that shady Alexander fellow she is with now. I will equip you for your journey, small one, if you would deliver something. For. Me. Does that sound good?"
"I need a coat."
"Of course, a little coat too."
Onyx stopped at a certain room, kicking the door open. From the splintering sound, Onyx had kicked down a locked door. Onyx plopped Fei down, and began throwing open the cabinets and dressers. Several barely there outfits came out, forming piles on the ground. "Where does she keep sensible clothes..." Finally Onyx took out a long coat, much too long for Fei, and threw it on her. "That should be good enough for the rain." Fei tried it on. A full foot of hem dragged on the floor. Onyx grabbed the edge and tore it, leaving a ragged edge on the otherwise serviceable coat. "Now here!" Onyx took out a small, gold sphere. "This will lead you to Jade. Probably still with that foolish mage. Give it to her! She will know what to do with it!"
"Fei!" Evie burst into the room through one of the walls, standing between her and Onyx, as if she could prevent anything that could happen. "Fei! I've been looking for you! Are you ok!? Is this maid going to hurt you!?"
"Evie!" Fei hugged Evie, to the slight confusion of Onyx. The dragon woman stepped forward, passing a clawed hand through Evie like a breeze.
"Such odd ones, you are..." she mumbled to herself. "Last, here are some boots! Watch where you step! The rain is treacherous for those who wander! The lights from Kane's camp will guide you, make sure you don't stray!" Onyx cautioned.
Onyx led Fei to one of the side entrances. "Lord Edgar has camped on the other side of the castle, where the wall will protect him from the rain. You will not have any such luxury, so again..."
"Be careful, I got it, I got it! I can do it!" Fei tried to squirm out of Onyx's firm grip.
"The monsters you would run into all hide from the storm. You only need watch for the centaurs, and the spirits. Stay on your guard OK?"
"Okay, okay..."
Fei started her small warding spell, and was relatively dry for the first few yards. When it started to spring leaks, she would stop under a tree, or in some ruin, to catch her breath and rest a few, and dry off. Evie helped as much as she could, patching the streams that came through Fei's shield. They made slow, but good progress across the empty stretch of land between the armies.
