Alexander had followed the centaurs on their way to this show they had mentioned. He knew it would be a fight of some sort, but he had not expected to see a human. Let alone one who had obviously survived here for a while, admittedly the fight seemed even but for all he knew that wouldn't last long. Before he had really thought about it he was running into the fray already firing a standard laser for someone of his rank. He figured it wouldn't do much, but it wouldn't hurt to possibly distract the beast.

"Can you still fight?" He asked as he got closer.

Long years of experience were all that stopped Claire from gaping like a complete idiot as a sudden flash of light resulted in a chunk of the beast's torso bursting into steam. The creature staggered backwards, the prepared lunge aborted from the sudden attack. Claire took advantage of the distraction she dropped her dagger and drew her hands back, focusing.

"When he charges again I'll slow him down. The head, get him in the head and I think it'll kill it." Time for introductions and status updates when this thing was dead or fled, especially since it was coming for another attack - not at her, a blind charge straight at alexander. Obviously it wasn't completely stupid. She swore and pushed herself forward, letting out the wind in a blast that staggered the creature on his course, slowing him. She hoped her rescuer had the aim and the force to take advantage of it.

Alexander responded with a well aimed and laser with as much power as he could manage while not draining himself. The attack landed square on its mark causing the beast to topple over. He wasn't quite ready to assume it dead but he hoped it was at least incapacitated.

"Come on, let's get you out of here and I can heal you. We are going to a centaur camp a while away to stay the night. We can talk and I can get started tending to your wounds on the way." As he spoke he moved to support Claire as they walked, noting that she was fairly badly injured and quite obviously tired. While he did this, he also began to focus energy into her wounds, focusing on the smaller injuries so that she would at least be in a better condition as they moved. He wouldn't be able to work on anything more serious until he could reach a place he could actually focus.

The beaat seemed to be quite dead, given the rather large hole in the skull and the steam pouring from the eyes, nose, and ears.

"Good shot." She sagged against him, the fading of her adrenalin turning her limbs to jelly. "Kerbones finally sent reinforcements, then. Do me a favor, put another one into it, the last thing I need is that thing getting back up." She grimaced with each step, although he was doing something good, she could feel energy returning to her, the aches and wounds becoming less pronounced. "You made quite an entrance."

"Lord Alexander.....could you, well, not do thing like that? I get the feeling it doesn't make you very popular with where we are going to stay..." Jade said, making her own way down to the pair with a collection of boos behind her as the centaurs voiced their displeasure at the fight being cut off in that manner, and the crowd that had been there before dispersed, heading back to their camps and quickly set up huts some distance yet away.

"Here, my Lord...You are trying to do too many things at once. I can at least support her while you do...whatever else it is you are trying to do." Jade continued, moving close to now partially carry Claire as they began their walk in the rain back to the centaur camp.

Meanwhile, the shadow was showing a distinct interest in the woman who they had now run into, obviously surprised and suspicious at the same time. "Alexander...what do you think? Another that was sent through? The other mage I could understand, hiding away in the castle....but out here? It seems that the world itself tried to destroy her. She's...well, made of something, certainly. Though, the woman was correct that we didn't make many friends by...well, rushing off. But I think I understand from before. A healers duty, correct?"

As they continued their walk, the huts came into view. Many of them were simple things, but some were obviously much more well thought out. As they got closer, a few of the centaurs, likely guards from how they were armed and armored, came out to see who they were. Their suspicion was obvious from the way one brought a crossbow towards the group, and the other already had their sword drawn.

"I had no real plan to do that, but I can't exactly leave someone who may be from home to die. I'm a healer first and all else second. I'd rather be unpopular than have a preventable death on my conscience." Alexander spoke to Jade before turning and firing another, weaker, laser at it. If only to keep his new patient from trying to do it herself.

"We weren't reinforcements." He spoke as he continued to focus on healing the minor injuries.

"We were yet another group sent in to try and figure out just what is going on and how to stop it. I made progress but just after having done so got myself and my companion in hot water. We decided it was better we left than stick around, my comrades either don't know I left or don't particularly care. So for the moment it is the three of us, and the group of centaurs who probably don't particularly like me for the moment. Your fight was their entertainment."

"Absolutely, it is exactly as I said to Jade. If I must choose between making enemies or letting another living being die, it isn't a hard choice. One option lets me sleep well at night and the other leads only to guilt and regret. So far I have no regrets for the choices I have made. As for this woman, if she has survived this long by herself, she will certainly fair well within out little group. She may very well turn out to be the best fighter among us."

While it was quite surprising, Silvana merely hugged her shadow back. "I'm sorry, but I don't know where we're going. Probably somewhere, but until we know, it's better to stick with the group. Well, maybe after tonight, as we're mingling, I guess. So, why don't we explore a bit? I could use a bit of time from all this noise."

Silvana stood up and started to explore some of the castle they were in, with her shadow following closely behind. Turning a corner, she bumped into a person she didn't remember seeing, accompanied by a maid. "Ouch. Watch it, would you?" she said calmly. While she said ouch, it was mostly because it'd been so unexpected.

"What a charming group." Claire's voice fairly dripped with sarcasm. "And yes, that was what I meant. Not sure how long ago I got sent through. A few weeks, I think. Wish I had some useful information, but all I really know is that there are a lot of very hard to kill creatures in this world and every night this storm comes through." The blood on her face began to wash away, the gush from her forehead slowing to a trickle before stopping. "Wish we'd had you when we came through, some of my men might've made it."

"Well whether charming or not, they are willing to help us. We aren't much in a position to decline. Don't worry about information, I know where we need to go and who to talk to in order to find the next bit of the puzzle." He stopped speaking as he had to focus a bit more on some of the cuts. While he was at it he tried to lessen the pain and fatigue if possible.

"I'm surprised a group would come through without a healer, or a magical one anyway. Though you managed fairly well without all things considered. My name is Alexander by the way, Weaver rank Lightdweller, and you are?" He figured he may as well try and learn something about the new companion as they traveled.

The pleasant chatter with Drew helped with Cale's uneasiness. It was easy to relate to Drew's anxiousness about the place then his mind seemed to dwell on something. A few seconds later he finally said what was on his mind. It was about the trial and why exactly he didn't accept the offer during the trials. That made Cale think for a few moments. He pondered what to say, trying to grasp his own inherent reason for declining.

"I know it's none of my business, but I just want to know... why?"

"In a way, I feel like its better with me not knowing." Cale said sheepishly. "They say that ignorance is bliss so... well I just feel like I needed to focus on the tasks at hand. If I choose to accept the offer then I would be distracted." Cale finally managed to say but something else seemed to stay on his mind. "I wouldn't be the same person I know if I knew why my parents abandoned me. I may never know them... but maybe that is a good thing."

"I was the only Mage in the group. Thought I could handle anything." She straightened a bit, her body still aching with fatigue but no longer quite as limp and dead. "We got ambushed by those Gargoyles before we got anywhere. Turns out wind and rapiers don't do a lot of good against stone." She managed a smile. "I'm Claire Estobel. So Kerbones brought in the Academy, huh." She managed to hoist herself off his shoulder fully, starting to walk on her own, albeit with a limp. "I can live with bastard centaurs as long as they don't try to kill me."

Drew listened and nodded in agreement when he was done. "Not letting the past bog you down. A mentality I can certainly get behind." he said, taking a moment to put a hand on Cale's shoulder. "For what it's worth, the same person you are now is okay in my book. I'd say it was for the best." he withdrew his hand, getting up and stretching. "Look... we got quite the journey ahead of us. Whether you're staying, going with Alexander or coming with me, just remember to be careful. Though a big guy like you probably has nothing to worry about." he said, giving him another nudge. He was certainly feeling better now, even if he couldn't sleep.

"As for me, I'm going to walk around a bit. I got a destination in mind..." There was something he wanted to see again near the entrance, and he needed a distraction. He lifted up his glass, making the gesture of a toast "To moving forward." he said to Cale, finishing off his drink before setting it down and stepping away.
Drew's shadow hovered behind Alexander and this newcomer. He was still trying to get a good read on her. Still, he had to admit she looked interesting. He moved into view and waved, curious if she'd be able to see him.

Fei was led back to her room, but she didn't really want to go in. She was gonna go and follow Seth around, but that Nightshade went with him into his room. Yuck. Since she wasn't gonna be anywhere close to Raven, she peeked inside her room. Yup. Gabriel was still inside. Fei had most of her things... Oh! Drew said I had to give this to Alexander! [small]"Evie! Evie?"[/small] Fei ran back down the hall, the opposite way the maid had gone down, looking for Evie in her best indoor voice.
"Fei?"
Fei found Evie creeping around, same as her. "Evie! There you are. Come on, we gotta find-"
"They kicked Alexander out!"
"What?"
"Alexander was trying to steal, and they caught him, and then he left with one of the maids! I just saw them!"
"But I have to get this to Alexander..." Fei took out the book and showed Evie.
"Oh... but he just left... we should hurry up if we're going to catch him. This way! There's a couple of guards around, but I found a way past!"

As they got closer to the outside of the castle, Fei noticed the rain. It was just like normal rain back home, like the lake water! "Wait, if we're going out, I need a raincoat! Or else the book will get wet!" Evie had to pause for a second, since she hadn't had to deal with the problems of "rain".
"Okay, I'll... try and find one. Just wait here for a sec, ok?" Evie went through the walls, trying to make sure the doors to them were unlocked, but most of the clothing were in locked rooms. Fei meanwhile wasn't going to sit and wait for Evie to get back, and kept going down the hallway. It would be easy for Evie to find her then, all she had to do was keep going! Fei tried all the doors in the hallway, but they were all locked up tight. A few times she found an open one, but they either led to more hallways or small closets with brooms and mops and stupid cleany stuffs. Finally, Fei came to a door that led outside. No coat. Fei experimentally put her hands out in the rain, creating a sort of water shield umbrella. keeping a disc of water hovering above her hands so the rain hit it and flowed off, kind of like a real umbrella! After a few seconds it began to leak though, dripping through until Fei finally just let it go. The airborne puddle made a nice splash when it hit the mud. She wouldn't be able to go very far using just her magic...

Fei turned around, deciding to find out if Evie had found anything, and was met with what looked like a big dark demon. "Waaaaaah!" Fei hurled the muddy puddle she had dropped at the thing.
"PFFFFT! Hay! You! Small girl!"
Fei tried to dart around the figure, only to be snatched up by her arm.
"Do you think you're clever? Sneaking around the castle like. A. Shadow."
It lifted her up. It, was the maid Fei had seen earlier, the one that took Seth and them earlier.
"What are you doing? Going to go out in the rain? Lord Edgar let's you stay here, and everyone runs off like. Little. Cockroaches." Onyx tucked Fei under her arm, kicking the door closed and walking back into the castle.
"Noooo, I don't wanna go back to my room!" Fei kicked and squirmed.
"Haha! Such a little worm! Where are you going then, little worm?"
Fei didn't like being called "little". "I have a super secret missiiiion I need to doooo" she whined, resorting to trying to budge the dragon lady's solid grip.
"So you're going out in the rain, without any supplies, any protection..."
"I need to find Alexaaaaander"
Onyx cupped her chin in thought.
"Alexander, the troublemaker Jade has to suffer with now... they ran out without so much as a goodbye! So rude."
"I neeeed a cooooat"
"Eloping like secret lovers! Hah! This will be the most exciting news. In. Months. To. Come."
The dragon lady was really warm, her armor was warm, and the mud was already starting to cake in places.
"Do you know why we don't fight during the rains, little worm? It's very hard to maneuver. It's very wet. But something tells me you're happy in that torrent. Hahah! Such a fiery little worm! Either very brave, or very. Stupid. I'll make you a deal, little worm, how does that sound!"
"I'm not little!"
"Jade ran off before I could give her something myself, and it will probably help her and that shady Alexander fellow she is with now. I will equip you for your journey, small one, if you would deliver something. For. Me. Does that sound good?"
"I need a coat."
"Of course, a little coat too."

Onyx stopped at a certain room, kicking the door open. From the splintering sound, Onyx had kicked down a locked door. Onyx plopped Fei down, and began throwing open the cabinets and dressers. Several barely there outfits came out, forming piles on the ground. "Where does she keep sensible clothes..." Finally Onyx took out a long coat, much too long for Fei, and threw it on her. "That should be good enough for the rain." Fei tried it on. A full foot of hem dragged on the floor. Onyx grabbed the edge and tore it, leaving a ragged edge on the otherwise serviceable coat. "Now here!" Onyx took out a small, gold sphere. "This will lead you to Jade. Probably still with that foolish mage. Give it to her! She will know what to do with it!"
"Fei!" Evie burst into the room through one of the walls, standing between her and Onyx, as if she could prevent anything that could happen. "Fei! I've been looking for you! Are you ok!? Is this maid going to hurt you!?"
"Evie!" Fei hugged Evie, to the slight confusion of Onyx. The dragon woman stepped forward, passing a clawed hand through Evie like a breeze.
"Such odd ones, you are..." she mumbled to herself. "Last, here are some boots! Watch where you step! The rain is treacherous for those who wander! The lights from Kane's camp will guide you, make sure you don't stray!" Onyx cautioned.

Onyx led Fei to one of the side entrances. "Lord Edgar has camped on the other side of the castle, where the wall will protect him from the rain. You will not have any such luxury, so again..."
"Be careful, I got it, I got it! I can do it!" Fei tried to squirm out of Onyx's firm grip.
"The monsters you would run into all hide from the storm. You only need watch for the centaurs, and the spirits. Stay on your guard OK?"
"Okay, okay..."

Fei started her small warding spell, and was relatively dry for the first few yards. When it started to spring leaks, she would stop under a tree, or in some ruin, to catch her breath and rest a few, and dry off. Evie helped as much as she could, patching the streams that came through Fei's shield. They made slow, but good progress across the empty stretch of land between the armies.

As Rosa closed the door behind Joey, she seemed intending to say something as they started going, only for Joey to run into someone as they began going. Rosa smiled at the chance meeting, giving a small nod to the woman who had came out.

"Greetings, fellow guest. Apologies for my companion, as he....has had a rough night." Rosa explained, giving a small bow. "I would assume you plan on getting ready for the journey tomorrow as well?" Rosa didn't seem too concerned about the situation, almost welcoming the additional people to come along.

"Of course, if there is something else you were going to do, we might be able to make a detour...unless you planned on causing trouble, in which case I might suggest leaving us out of it. But the night is not something to waste, if I do say so myself...Though, supplies would be recommended, especially if you plan on leaving at the soonest hour." Rosa continued, making the warning somewhat obvious to Joey that there was a warning there.

Meanwhile, the shadow of Silvana gave a small giggle after she had stepped into Joey, obviously finding that their adventure to look around was already off to a rocky start. Still, it was something different which she didn't mind at all going about doing for a change.
"Well...I think being a healer might also involve keeping yourself safe as well. Saving everyone is admirable, my Lord, but very unlikely. Just....wish to save ourselves any trouble, as the world out here is...much less friendly than the castle will ever be." Jade warned, shifting her weight a bit to better carry the still stumbling Claire.

"I think you'll find most groups to be....charming. Though, it seems you might already be acquainted with them..." Jade said wryly, noting that the wounds of the one she was carrying were apparently clearing up if the rain washing away the blood was any indicator, for which she was actually quite grateful.

"Hopefully a trustworthy one...This world seems very much to lack that particular trait with what we've seen. If she has been here weeks, then, this has possibly been going on for much longer than I am aware of. And...would you stop doing that?" The shadow Alexander turned to address the Shadow Drew. "I swear, eventually you are going to do that and someone is going to notice...and then we'll all be in trouble."

"Hold, creatures." A centaur said, walking towards the travelling group of mages. The centaur herself seemed to be well armored, and hefting the sword that she had seemed to be no small feat.

"Not sure what your intentions are, but they don't lead you to our camp this evening. Unless your intentions involve just staying out in the rain around the tents."

"The first rule of being a doctor, do no harm. The second rule is that I cannot ignore the suffering of others. If somebody is sick or injured and I can do something to aid them, it is my duty to do so. I'm not supposed to use my power until I die, not all people can be saved, but at the same time I have no right to place my comfort over the life of another. The second I have done so I have put a price on a human life, and I don't think either of us truly wishes to walk that particular path." He then turned his attention to his shadow.

"It has probably been going on for months at the very least. I wouldn't be surprised if we were an option of last resort." He thought to his shadow. It was then they arrived in front of the centaur.

"Our intentions are to speak to Kane in regards to seeking shelter for the night and safe passage through his territory in exchange for services rendered. I am a healer and am willing to tend to any sick, wounded, or particularly drunk people in the camp in exchange. He and I had spoken and exchanged information at the party at Edgar's castle, and I would like to speak to him again." HE said being as polite and formal as possible.

Joey took no offense to the young woman's defense, opting to just chuckle as she bounced off of him. "Wow, another girl to literally run into me. This night as just been full of conveniences!" He thought as Rosa conversed with the girl. "I'm guessing you're another one of the mages that came in today? You're definitely one the more...alluring ones of the bunch." He complemented, in attempts to butter her biscuit. "What's your name? The tenacious mistress beside me is none other than the unflappable Rosa, and I myself am too a mage. Call me Joey." There went that smile of his again. "You should totally tag along with Rosa and I. We're gonna go raise some hell." He said in a matter-of-fact tone. They really weren't, but he had a brief thought of Rosa just being around to stop him from getting into trouble, like a nanny trying (and failing) from stopping a rowdy child from kicking and screaming and being an overall shitlord. He found that funny, seeing as she kinda was.

He was certainly an energetic one, that much was certain. Silvana didn't much care for how he worded his compliment to her, even if it was kind of sweet, maybe. "I'm Silvana, a Nightshade. Yes, I did come with the other mages, though we haven't been able to do much after we fought the gargoyles when we entered into this world."

"Ah, no worries, it's quite alright." she said to Rosa. "I'd say I'm prepared enough for the journey, though I wish I had my robes back. And I was mostly just going to explore around. Didn't have a specific goal or destination in mind, so I might as well join you two."

"Raise some hell, you say? I could use my magic to prank someone, at the very least, so I don't know how much hell would be raised from that." she said back to Joey before looking to her shadow. At least one of them had fun with the bumping that happened earlier.

Drew had walked off, seeing that he wasn't being followed. He shrugged, remembering that Cale probably had things of his own to deal with. He felt better, and wanted to head somewhere to wait. He managed to find the entrance where they had come in, and walked to the spot where they had first encountered Edgar. "There were all these weird little contraptions. Since these aren't in some safe, I'm sure he wouldn't mind. I wonder what sort of things he was working on before all this nonsense..."

"Being considered a final resort is...less than comforting. Why wait so long to bring us into this fight? Especially if the warning and situation was so dire? It is....an odd situation the more that is found within it. Even when we are...well, still working on getting closer to the problem itself." Alexander's shadow continued, looking over the camp a moment, and noting the guard that had stopped them in the meantime.

"They look...unhappy. A troop that is already defeated, despite their prepared nature. Apparently something has already happened to cause them to lose hope in their war, which means the celebration will likely not be here. Caution, Alexander, is likely needed in buckets here..."

"Services rendered? Healing?" The centaur barked a laugh. "Right....I get the feeling you have no idea where you are, but perhaps Kane will be interested in seeing you. Wandering about at the beginning of the night seems ill advised for one of your...stature, so perhaps you'll humor him. Course, he might also throw you out, which would humor me, so I can't see any reason why you can't bother him right now. Not my problem anyways."

The centaur gave a small wave with her sword to get the mages to follow, and got to walking into the camp. As they walked forward, many of the tents they were walking past were already occupied, some of them just barely being held together with all the rain, others that seemed to have been built to withstand this storm and the next hundred. As they walked deeper into the camp, they came across a tent that appeared just like any other, which the centaur pointed to the flap which was the door.

As Alexander and the rest stepped in, Kane sat looking over what looked like a collection of maps, pictures, and other general bits and pieces that he was sorting through. When Alexander stepped in, he regarded their entrance with a quiet, almost sarcastic chuckle.

"Hmph, of all the visitors this evening, you are...the interesting choice. I am going to make some assumptions before you say a word...you are not out here through simple choice, she isn't out here because you did something good, and....I do not recognize the third one. Or are you planning more of an invasion now? I would warn you that these fights are not just for show." Kane said, glancing over a few more maps before sliding them to the side of the table.

"So, I'm going to assume you went out in the storm to evade Edgar, for doing something foolish, and are expecting some kind of grateful safe haven here. Try not to look surprised, as you don't live long out here without making some very good assumptions. Even if you do look like garbage having walked through all that rain and...apparently done some rolling in the dirt to get here." Kane said, shifting a collection of papers into a nearby chest, slamming it shut.

"So, I guess that leaves just the last assumptions of you being here for a nice dry place for the night, and a few other things from me. So, how right am I so far? I've been pretty accurate with you creatures in disturbing things as of late, so I figure guessing that you are ruining your own things while disturbing the battles and timing of everything."
Rosa gave a small smile at the nightshade Silvana as she gave her name. With Joey presenting some additional options, her smile seemed to grow even as it seemed like he was intending to cause any problems that he could. When Silvana did say that she planned on coming along, Rosa put a hand to her chin as if thinking for just a moment and then came to a decision.

"Alright then, I know right where we are going. For both your trouble, and your robes. Now, if you'll just follow me..." Rosa started walking through the halls, the two mages in tow. As then took a few turns, Rosa finally brought them to a set of double doors, pushing them open. Inside was a dimly lit room, with candles and a single bed.

"Now, those robes should be over there on the bed...." Rosa began, pointing, and then turning to Joey. "...and I think your hell raising is in this room too. In fact, I'm so confident that it is in here, that I think you both could likely find it pretty easily. Hope to see you soon, have a good evening."

Rosa stepped back through the doors, closing them behind herself with a small click following. The two were now in the room by themselves, with just a few candles for light. The room itself seemed to be one of the fancier ones, with a few bits of art depicting either beautiful women, odd locations, or a collection of weapons. Scattered about the room were also several dressers and closets, and what appeared to even be a window view of the storm raging outside.
As Drew ventured back to the room with the orb that he had first powered, as well as collection of gadgets, items, and what could possibly be considered weapons. Some of the items looked like they could possibly connect together as part of a larger functioning gadget. Also scattered along the table were a few gems, a few weapons which seemed like they were from Kerbones, and a few more basic things like knives, swords, chains, and other assorted bits of metal.

One thing in particular seemed to be a bit of a focus, with a collection of different gems inserted into a metal gadget that seemed to be some kind of flexing arm, or an addition to be attached to an arm. Many of the multicolored gems seemed to give off a glow, but the device itself seemed to be inactive.

The normal weapons didn't catch his eye, but he did look at the gems and gadgets. "Those gems certainly seem... out of the ordinary." He muttered, looking at them as closely as he could without actually touching them. He even let a finger get close to it, see if he could feel anything or if it'd react in any way. "Gotta wonder how Edgar got his hand on all this crap. The normal stuff I can at least speculate. Portals and all that strange stuff. But this? I don't even know what it is..."
