You not being the troll? The mods disagree (again, hence your probation).

You are the troll in the sense that, not only did you make an OP to get a certain reaction out of people, but you went on to flame and rage at the people who corrected you. That "one guy who got pissy"? All he said was he doesn't like people like you (he never actually called you a drop out, only said you seem like one), and honestly, when you're making uninformed comments like the ones in your first post, why should he? What did you do? You called him a jackass and told him to shut the hell up.

...Tell me again how you don't see why you got reprimanded?

I'd like to see your proof of these people "understanding the joke" (considering there was no joke to understand; I've read through the entire thread and again, no one seems to understand what you were trying to say). The only "understanding" I saw was people understanding that you incorrectly displayed sarcasm online. Also, I'd like to bring up (again), your OP had no inkling of sarcasm, not because people couldn't understand it, but because there was no sarcasm to be had in the first place. What you said was an exaggeration, not sarcasm...and your definition of context clues is wrong as well. Seriously, did you read my first post at all? Everything I said came researched before being posted.

There's the link. The very last thing I said to you is at the bottom...and what the linked thread and this one show me is that you apparently have a deep misunderstanding of The Escapist posting rules.

EDIT: Another thing, I'm not "some random guy". I read the thread, and comments are still open. I'm allowed to post on it and quote people, so long as it's on topic.

Nintendo innovative? For every innovative game you get 10 itterations.

Puh-lease, you're calling Halo Combat Un-evolved and Call of First Person Shooter #23456 innovative?

You misquoted no one in this quote chain said anything about Halo and Cod being innovative.
Especially since Pc players complain avbout Halo being too samey it seems rather odd

Once again, YOU'RE not seeming to get it.
So here is a little list full of lots of neat information:
1.) I didn't get banned for trolling. I got banned for calling Plazmatic a jackass.
2.) I wasn't flaming. Plazmatic is the one who decided to open up hostilities, all I did was comply. I'm damn surprised the mods didn't ban him for his drop-out comment.
3.) I think you should go through and see the responses again. You and Plazmatic are the only ones who seem to take this seriously, and yet you insist that you are right. Everyone else gets the joke about the consoles. The entire point of that post was saying that consoles are easier to use, something that you don't seem to get. I even had a guy send me a video of a monkey installing a graphics card on a computer for Christ's sake. Get it? Because of my monkey comment? Ha! Humor, eh? Just because YOU don't get it, doesn't make you right. Hell, I even made an edit explaining the situation, and you STILL don't get it.
4.) Just because you said that I was wrong about that other thread, doesn't mean I was. There wasn't even a debate going on, you just happened to disagree. You know what? I think I get it now. If you disagree with someone, that automatically makes it wrong. Of course!

And finally;
5.) You weren't even involved in any of this. So really, it's none of your business, and I honestly don't know why I'm even bothering explaining the whole situation to you. You seem to be taking it strangely personal, and you even seem to be re-hashing Plazmatic's comments. I don't suppose you two have a prior relation?

The answer is very simple: where does games on consoles are made from? PC's !

What's the only platform that delivers Mods for FREE: PC's !

i don't need to go further...
What's the only platform that you can sit on the couch and play..... Consoles.

What's the only platform that can be operated by a monkey...... Consoles.

OP: Wasn't BioShock only on 360?

Edit: Okay, I'm sick of you people quoting me. I've gotten about 20 quotes of people explaining how a monkey could use a computer. Those are funny, because those people clearly get the joke.

But I've also gotten about 5 quotes telling me how thick I am and how superior PC's are. I've even got one guy who's such a raging PC fanboy he's telling me I that I need to "supplement my education, and go work at McDonalds." These are the people who clearly don't see the sarcasm behind two very bad examples and the phrase "A MONKEY CAN DO IT."

So if you're going to send me more funny videos of monkeys? Please do!
But if your going to tell me how I'm and idiot and need to go work at McDonalds, than YOUR the one who needs to learn how to understand "Context clues."
Where's a place a monkey could work..... McDonalds!
Then that monkey goes on-line and misses every point he can.

1) You didn't get banned, or we wouldn't be having this discussion. You really have a hard time keeping up with terminology and definitions don't you?
2) You were flaming, you let your anger get to you and you called another member a jackass and told him to shut the hell up. Like I've said already, Plasmatic didn't call you a drop-out, only implied that you acted like one. Big difference.
3) I think you need to look up the definition of joke (as well as about a dozen other definitions) because I don't think it means what you think it means. There was no joke to be had in any of your posts, just your own misinterpretation of sarcasm. What I take seriously is the fact that you come to a thread, post ignorant comments, and then flame anyone who corrects you and try to pass off your own ignorance as a "joke" when you've been proven wrong.
4) I'm honestly starting to believe that all you do is look at my replies and say "THEES GAI EES RESPONDIN TOO MAH COMMENTZ AGIN AN EYE DUN LIEK EET ." Let me bold it out for you. You were wrong in the other thread because you were trying to suppress someone else's right to follow the request in the thread simply because you didn't like their response. In the other thread you got "pissy", as you say it, because Pirate Kitty posted that she doesn't like Christians...she followed the rules of the thread did she not? She didn't flame Christians until people started quoting her angrily just because she wrote it. You being one of them. Hence, you are wrong.
5) I'm sorry, is this a private thread that I shouldn't be viewing? Did I offend you by using my right as a member of The Escapist to read through comments and make replies to them as long as they're civil and on topic? No. No I didn't. Ergo, I can make it my business because there's nothing private about this thread. Just like anyone else can make it their business as well, as long as there's something, or someone, to disagree with. Also, if there's something I'm saying that multiple people have said to you (Plasmatic wasn't the only one), it's probably because there's some truth behind it.

bioshock (and even that, according to wiki, was 14 months ps3 exclusive) is a rare exception to the fact that game developers are avoiding the pc as much as possible, due to piracy, drm or other issues, and most games are released on consoles ONLY.

the pc is pretty much out of the question for many of the most popular game series today.
so how is the pc " the future of gaming"?

You clearly don't get it, and you're making it your personal agenda to annoy me because you don't understand a statement I made about consoles. How can you not understand, that if 20 other people get it, and you don't, it isn't ME who is wrong. The entire point of my original statement was to say that consoles are easier to use. That's it. And apparently that's a comment worthy of a good old fashioned bullshit war.

THINK ABOUT IT: I don't even know why you're pissed at me. Here's a question for you to answer: What are we even arguing about? Are you mad because I didn't know what console BioShock was on? Are you mad because I insulted your console of choice? (I'm a PC AND Console gamer myself.) Are you mad because I called Plazmatic a jackass? Because he was being one. he's the one who decided to start a hostile discussion, not me. (Yeah, by the way, saying "High School dropouts probably shouldn't be playing games" Isn't implying that I am a acting like a high school drop out, that's blatantly insulting me. For someone who wrote about 200 words picking apart my first statement and claiming that I don't understand context clues, you aren't too inept with them yourself.)

So go on, answer that ONE question, and I'll continue this debate with you.

Seems like the only one that has a problem reading anything is you, I've already mentioned about a half a dozen times that I read through this entire thread and all comments directed at you...I think you might be looking at a different thread, to be honest.

Let me answer your question: I'm not pissed, or mad. Period. If I came off angry I apologize, that was not my intention. What I am is annoyed that you honestly think I'm stupid enough to not understand your "joke". Let me make it clear for you: Do I understand that you were trying to say consoles are easier to use? Yes. Do I agree with you that consoles are easier to use? Yes. Was that what you originally wrote? No. Why? Because you didn't state it properly. What YOU don't seem to understand is that you said it wrong. Don't believe me? Here's an example of sarcasm:

Let's say someone walked up to you while you were wearing a red shirt, and they told you your shirt was black. To which you respond to them "This shirt is red, genius." Based on their previous statement, you wouldn't actually think very highly of their intelligence in that moment, would you? Therefore, the adding in of the word genius in that moment is sarcastic. THAT is a basic idea of sarcasm.

Do you remember those Geico caveman commercials where they would say "So easy, a caveman could do it!"? That is basically what you said, but about monkeys and consoles...and that's an exaggeration of the truth. Does it make it not true? No, and as I said, I agree with you (I'm a PC & console man myself). My entire point revolves around the fact that PC's are just as easy to use as consoles.

I would LOVE for you to name the 20 people who "get it". Please by all means, point them out for me. Would you like some help? Let me take a look...

Xzi said:
Wrong on count number one. You can just as easily hook your PC up to your TV and then connect a 360 controller or Wiimote to it. And subsequently play from the couch.

I'm not sure your second point is a positive for consoles...

I have Bioshock installed on my PC now.
Xzi said:

I'm basically just saying Consoles are easier.
They most certainly are easier. For the user. But for the developer, they are harder and more costly a platform to work on. And certainly to start on. There's always a price to be paid for convenience and over-simplification.
Does he "get it"? No, I see no acknowledgement on his part. I just see him saying in a polite way that your statement, while somewhat true, is still incorrect. Let's do another, shall we?

I was kind of pointing that comment at the people who legitimately didn't get the joke, though I can definitely see where that might have been missed. Trust me, it made perfect sense to me when I wrote it, and I could explain the thought process behind it, though I'll admit that I don't really feel like it. I'm also going to go ahead and admit to a bit of a fuck-up on clarity on that one.

So, I officially apologize for a badly worded jibe that appears to have mis-fired. After all, just because it's the Internet doesn't mean we shouldn't try to hold ourselves accountable for when we mess up.

At the risk of falling victim to someone I already suspect of being a troll, I will answer your question with this:

lolwut?

...Really?

Bioshock is the best example of a PC release you can come up with? -sigh- I can see this is going to be difficult...-ahem-

Allow me to assist you: http://pc.gamespy.com/index/release.html

This is a list of game releases for the PC between now and the end of the year alone. There's quite a few, aren't there? If you use the tabs at the top, you'll see a lot of those releases coincide with 360/PS3 releases as well. Not to mention, the exclusives that PCs have (such as the next WoW expansion). So your statement of developers avoiding the PC as much as possible? Incorrect. Next point.

"Digital rights management is used by companies such as Sony, Amazon, Apple Inc., Microsoft, AOL and the BBC."

What? The companies who produced the PS3 and 360, respectively, also practice in the use of DRM? -gasp-
Piracy can happen on consoles as well, dear. Next point.

faceless chick said:

Not sure whether to take this seriously or not. What constitutes popular, in your opinion? Let's assume for the moment you mean the games that sell:

The Call of Duty Series: That's a series that started on the PC and made its way to the consoles, to increase profit, not because consoles are easier, or better, to develop on. The new Call of Duty, Black Ops, is being released for the PC as well as the 360/PS3.

Fallout: an RTS that started on the PC, Has moved a bit to consoles, but is still primarily on the PC.

Warcraft (including WoW): An RTS that started on the PC back in 1994, and has evolved into an MMO with 12 million subscribers. Still on the PC.

Battlefield Series: Started on the PC, and if I'm not mistaken, is still only on the PC.

Half-Life series: Started on the PC, with ports being made for consoles much later.

These 5 examples alone are of games that sell relatively well, and are a popular topic in many a conversation.

Of course, your entire baseless accusations and my rebuttal are moot for one reason: You missed the entire point of the article to begin with. Mr. Levine isn't saying "PCs are the future of gaming" like if he is telling us to throw away our consoles because they're garbage. In fact, here's an excerpt from one of the few users in this thread who actually read the entire article:
Bolo The Great said:
This thead is so full of fail. "lolz you PC gamerz are so eleitist!, we got da best games on consoles lololololol" .I think nearly everyone is missing the point here. He isn't saying "PC are the future of gaming and consoles will die" hes saying "PCs show what may be in store for other games in future".

His point is that since PC games are generally a lower investment and lower risk venture and the platform is very open with no barrier to entry it shows us what new and creative ieads might be comming down the pipe-line. I mean there has been a great deal of different and innovative games on the platform of the kind simply not seen anywhere else. And yes that includes Wii-Ware, PSN and XBL. Uou can getr smaller scale games though them but original and innovative stuff like The Witcher is really to "big" for those platforms but really wouldn't fit well on a console becuase of the extra investment and barriers to entry for making a full console games.
I would argue this more, but there's already more than a dozen other users in this thread who did it before me, and better. Go look through the posts if you want a better explanation.

One more thing, I leave you with this, to help you understand a little better:

Well on that account, you are right. I did exaggerative a bit didn't I?
So the entire reason behind this conversation was because I made a joke that was unclear? Really? How in the world is that a big deal? That's like getting hit in the face every time you tell a lame joke at a party!
Anyway, let me explain it then.....
What I mean when I say "they get the joke" is that when I wrote "What's the platform that even a monkey could use" I was referring to MYSELF as the monkey.
Get it?
I'm the monkey who can use the console, because I suck with computers! When I say the other people "get it" I mean that they understand the joke that I can't work a computer worth a damn. Some people chimed in with advice, others recommended STEAM, one guy sent me a video of a monkey fixing a computer. The reason that Plazmatic was a different case entirely was because he went off about me being an ignorant, lazy, High School dropout, which was his apparent reasoning for me not working a computer properly, which was why I called him a jackass, which was what got me a probation.

There. Do you get it now?

Actually, yes, I do get it now. That was a lot different than what I had thought you were trying to get across, and I thank you for explaining it. You're right, it's not a big deal when you think about it, but with the way your OP was worded, any one person can think you're implying that PCs are complicated and therefore not worth bothering with, which is what I had initially understood.

Also if it's any consolation, Plazmatic was suspended for his response to you. See? Justice is served afterall :p

ffs you can stop now.that wasn't even my point yet you have to reply and report my every post. i get it, you're a pc fanboy that won't rest till he's proven to everyone his favorite gaming system is "teh awesome". and really, have you been reporting me for that one post non-stop? have you no better things to do than go start flamewars on the internet?
are you that desperate to see mods do your bidding so you can "prove" you were right by getting someone banned?

and no, games HAVE goen down the drain since the early 90s. it's not completely dead, yes, but it's not doing as well as it's used to.pc isn't THE gaming platform, it's A gaming platform.it's a serious downgrade and naming a few games (btw, go check out the wii/ps3/xbox games list too while you're at it) doesn't mean it's getting better, more like hanging on. i'm not a console fan ,but people like you make me want to be one.

While it's unfortunate that ANYONE was punished, I can't help but feel that Plazmatic caused this entire mess.

I'm glad we got this cleared up, and I look forward to any further debates we will have in the future. Honestly, I'm just happy things are at least somewhat consolidated. I apologize for any inconvenience or stress I may have caused, but sometimes these things just happen. Oh well.

Have a good one, eh? :D
