Well... I am suitably impressed.

Though they MUST sort out input latency issues or the close quarters combat will not be worth it.

(also good to see a hell of a lot less brown)

Now I just hope they fix enemy AI, which was less then smart on kz1 and 2. I was able to go through easy and medium with just the knife the majority of the time on killzone 2 because the enemies were really just that unconcerned with me running up with my knife.

How many years is going to be till it's released? let's remember how the First Killzone 2 teaser was in 2005... My guess it will be out in like 2014.
Oh god, I can't stand the flame wars going on that long, I remember how it was leading up to KZ2's release? I wish I hadn't gotten sucked into that bullshit, it all died down once the game was actually released.

Though I'm pretty sure the 2005 trailer was just a tech demo as the PS3 wasn't even close to release yet. The first gameplay trailer (like seen here) for Killzone 2 didn't come till E3 2007 with the game released in Feb 2009.

So assuming they are just as tardy as before from first gameplay trailer, Killzone 3 should be out by about late 2011 to early 2012...

2012! Oh Noes!

Ok, firstly, I love Killzone (the controls are perfect, regardless of what some might say), so I can't wait, and secondly he's not wearing winter clothes because it wasn't winter when he was sent in, so it's not as ridiculously "look how badass he is!" as it's coming across. He's been stuck on the planet as he is since Killzone 2. Sorry to seem like a killjoy, but hey, someone has to get the facts out.

Why is it people still get excited every time a killzone game gets announced and excerpts provided?

Killzone 1 and 2 both failed in killing even the first Halo, which was the stated goal of their development. Now it seems its taking a stab at gears of war? Wat is this i don't even

Remember when Killzone 2 came out? You had a certain bluish australian-dog-like-creature who kept bantering on about how when he shot gas cylinders they like totally leaked.

Wow.

Then we never heard about it again afterwards, because no one gave a crap and playing killzone is quite like playing any other FPS with both hands dipped in moist peanut butter.

Hmm, conceivable. Guerilla Games are familiar with the system now and have already made an engine and entire game, and if they had been working on it since the game launched in early 2009 that would be 2 years. That's about as long as IW and Treyarch take considering they prefer to keep using the same engine with endless tweaks and modifications.

Wow, it's only June and my PS3 release calendar for 2011 is already getting full:

Killzone 3
Infamous 2
The Last Guardian
Motorstorm Apocalypse
Resistance 3*
Uncharted 3**
Agent***

*Yeah, that billboard leak from that movie set with 2011 release
**Not sure about this but Naughty dog have got a steady rhythm going; 2007 -> 2009 -> 2011?
*** been VERY quiet on this game, announced E3 2009, virtually no details, either we see it at this E3 or it is as good as cancelled.

All Sony's projects seem to be coming at once, I hope Microsoft has a bit more than Gears of War 3 up its sleeve. It can't rely on 3rd party for much longer, especially considering those are best on PC anyway.

Have you actually played Killzone 2? I was a hater and going into it I have to admit it is quite enjoyable and is certainly on par with Halo 3 overall.

Though I did play it on a computer monitor, and believe it or not that can reduce the perceived input lag (peanut butter feeling) that most people experience playing on a HDTV as most HDTvs have their OWN input lag and it all adds up. Computer monitors reduce overall input lag to 150 milliseconds, which pushes it to the right side of playable (actually equivalent to what most people perceive with Halo 3 on a HDTV).

Yeah, Halo 3 has a lot on "extra stuff" with deployable items, dual wields and all that, and Killzone 2's limitation to only 1 main weapon is annoying but it makes for a more refined gameplay experience.

I suggest you play through KZ2 before you bash it.

Makes no difference to me, I have both consoles, it's wonderful to see some spirited competition where either way, I the consumer is the winner.

PS: anyone else noticed how Halo Reach and Killzone 3 both tout Jetpack as new features?

The one thing that throws me off is the fact that he has no jacket. I live in Arizona so eff that if I am going to buy that someone can even concentrate in battle. Despite that, it looks pretty good, but Killzone never had a problem with looks.

Killzone: Liberation had jetpack enemies, which Guerilla are using as a defense against "It's copying Halo!" arguments. I find it an odd coincedence, but they seem to act differently enough in each game. Halo's jetpack seems like a power up, whereas in Killzone they're a kind of weapon in themselves.

Looks like Sev has been on Helghan for quite a while because his hair has grown over his mohawk and he's grown a fuller beard.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that the lack of winter clothing is due to the fact that the ISA never supplied its troops with winter clothing for the Helghan campaign because it was supposed to be "in and out within a month" according to the back of Killzone 2.
The ISA fleet over Helghan was mostly destroyed at the end of Killzone 2 so there may not have been an opportunity to resupply the troops with winter clothing. This is, of course, assuming that this game is taking place on Helghan. Otherwise disregard what I have just said.

Anyway, I can't wait to get this game. I've been a devoted fan of the Killzone series for quite a while now and this looks like it will be another solid entry in the series. One more thing though: where the hell is Natko? I saw Sev and Rico, but no Natko. Did he die or something?

I really like how Killzone has changed since the first one. The first was ok and I played a bit with friends since it was pretty decent but nothing too outstanding. Second one was incredible with superb visuals and the gameplay was greatly improved.

Can't wait for this version!

Main character looked a bit too "Jack Average Guy" without any proper clothing or head protection.
