Excellent. A chance to use my Epic facepalm gif

<spoiler=Facepalm>

I mean the FPS market is thriving on the PC. The TF2 PC group is the biggest user group on this site.

Seriously? All you have to do is look at the steam numbers than someone's already posted here. And that doesn't include people who don't use steam (there's a few here and there).

*sigh* Silly kinect man...

This just further shows the disconnection between the gaming community and the producers at Microsoft and Sony. To both of these companies, the video game branch is largely insignificant. It's hard to imagine that anyone that works in these departments is an actual gamer or knows anything about the medium or it's community.

Hardly anyone? Certainly not.

Declined? Of Course.

Lets face it, PC fan or not, PC games have lost a sizeable chunk to Console dwellers. HOWEVER, a sizeable chunk have stayed with PC because of its support for mods, dedicated servers, mouse and keyboard, etc.

From a game developers point of view, its more profitable to sell to a console then the PC. Its easier for the PC version to be pirated, requires more effort from developers and gamers alike, and has been declining.

Hardly anyone though? For SOME games, but try telling that to TF2.

The main problem with what hes saying is its all true. Console platforms don't have anything near as responsive or sensitive as any mouse and if the kinest/move/wii is any indication, they never will.

Halo was propped up by auto-aim and regenerating health to reduce the amount one needed to rely upon console controls to function. Bungie made an easier game, not better controllers.

Not to mention, it's popularity was based almost entirely on the fact microsoft had a completely captive audience on the xbox/LIVE.

As much as it pains to admit, halo did create a whole new demographic almost overnight. Which almost instantly overshadowed the established FPS genre.

I'd say the reason that PC shooters are waning the way they are(read: if at all) is because dumb fucks like him stopped making them FOR the PC. Halo was a PC and xbox title. Halo 2 was an xbox title ported to the PC. And with Halo 3 they stopped doing it altogether.

So from me and the entire PC gaming community, kindly fuck off. Clearly, we're not your demographic, so your words have no place here.
Actually halo was a console exclusive for more than two years. Then it was sloppily ported to the PC.

I'd write a letter to Kudo, but I'd rather just use that time to play Red Orchestra on Steam.

What the hell is this guy on, exactly? How could he honestly say that and expect to be backed up at all? Hell, Halo was even ported to the PC.

Kinect and Move are both going to be horrible failures with the Wii losing its gimmick charm soon afterwards.

Motion controls are like 3D. A way to exploit a quick buck out of people who think it adds more to the experience.

I, for one, don't like the way the industry is headed.

That's just arrogant.

I think consoles are better in general for FPS, but I think everyone who plays Team Fortress 2 would like a word with him. And Crysis players, CoD players etc

From the Steam page:

66,415 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - Multiplayer
65,164 Counter-Strike: Source
61,036 Counter-Strike
17,888 Football Manager 2010
13,746 Team Fortress 2
10,053 Left 4 Dead 2

That's not quite in line with his statements.

And it also scares me that 1.6 is still so popular.
Thats because 1.6 is still awesome, and because it will pretty much run on ANY pc.

OT. How can someone this ignorant work for the games industry?
Yea, I suppose that's true. I know I play it from time to time myself. I guess I was just a bit surprised that it had neigh on as many players as MW2, even if 1.6 is the superior game.

Shocking news! The world's biggest douchebag acts like a douchebag!

Microsoft really, really needs to put a lid on it.

As much as I would like you to be right. You are wrong.

The Zero Punctuation group [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/view/Zero-Punctuation-Fans] is largest with over 1500 members.

To mirror my post in the other topic,
http://www.pcgamer.com/2010/09/20/around-266505-people-played-an-fps-on-a-pc-today/

I counter your bullshit with numbers!

Additional: Poor console gamers- this **** represents you? You're better than that. I know it, you know it.

Wow, I understand Microsoft is building the tension for Kinect but this will not end well for them. Considering how TF2 is treated on the Xbox while PC gamers laugh at them.
Now if you will excuse me, Bioshock is just done installing itself.

If I look hard enough?
There's enough Counter-Strike and Counter-Strike: Source servers to keep you entertained for the next 20 years!
Not to mention the dedicated audience Team Fortress 2 has...

Further proof that the people behind motion controls have no clue what's going on.
