True charity doesn't need public recognition. It was a nice thing at face value, but Kotick would never do anything to part himself from money unless it has some degree of PR potential for him.

Bullshit. He doesn't care at all, he'll say anything to line his pockets. And what about the British soldiers in CoD4 and MW2? Oh right, the only country in the world is America. Fuck you, Bobby Kotick. Fuck you.

I have no idea who this guy is or why everyone hates him but I do respect anyone giving $1 million to anything helping members of the Armed Forces.

Well, one on side I'd bet all the money he donated it's at least 95% for publicity, but on the other, one million isn't to be sniffed at.

Medal of Honor did more towards actually depicting what people did and yet it still gets less love than CoD......
You mean one guy solo'ing entire armies? No...wait thats's CoD, my bad...wait no! That is Medal of Honour...or is it CoD...I'm confused.
Actually it's just about every shooter ever, really. Not a particularly bad thing.

Anyway: I'm shocked at all you guys. Really. Bobby Kotick isn't a nice guy, or a particularly good CEO, but nor is he the Antichrist. We should all at least grudgingly accept that donating money to war vets is a good thing, no matter whom it came from. And really, you guys are blowing his comment about CoD being a tribute to the military way out of proportion. Sure, it isn't accurate or realistic. Sure, MW2 apparently sucked. But him making an inaccurate statement is really no reason to wish him death by fire.

You're all taking your hatred of Kotick way too far.

unlike a lot of people, i liked Medal of Honor. and hence, to me, this cheap (not monetarily) glove slap at EA insults me. Yeah, sure Kotick gave the army cash, but EA actually tried to respect them! not portray them as a bunch of kids in Vietnam fighting with TOY RC CARS!

Hi, I'm bobby kotick. I do charitable, good natured things but am maligned by those who enjoy the things I fund because I don't enjoy their hobby as much as they do.

More or less.

Still not a big fan of Kotick, but I'm not going to denounce him for donating to a charity for Veterans.

I'm curious how portraying the American military as a bunch of over-proud, jargon shouting fucktards who charge into every situation like they're the big damn heroes and screwing everything beyond repair is "Tribute"

If I were God, the 10th circle of hell would be reserved specifically for Kotick.

I think calling it a tribute is stretching it a little, but i definitely think that the CoD games show a certain level of respect for the military.
