AHAHAHAHAHAAAaa...
He's laughable. Not only is Activision going to milk more money from his customers, but they won't even improve the service. Oh and I'll bet the map packs are not going away, in fact, Activision's probably gonna start recycling CoD1 and 2 maps.
The only people who will stay with the game are bratty 12-year olds with their mom's credit cards. Which is basically the group of people that ruined the game. It's sort of the ultimate bottom of the game community's downfall.

I lol'd.

A bit off topic, but so many people decide to clamour to Battlefield Bad Company and other such games, but has anyone had a look at TF2? Free, constant, updates more than 2 years after its release, a low price, no subscriptions or anything and they even add in community made stuff. Its an amazing game.

After spending years as an outcast for actually loving to play games I was happy for a short time that it became more socially acceptable. More money being made by developers meant better games.......

But then it hit a turning point, major company's started seeing a cash candy jar that they could dip their hands into. Developers were bought out and the games became bland, and now every time I play a game I get some twelve year old shouting "FUCKING QUEERS" in my ear every time he dies.

I loved the first COD games, spent far too long playing them........now this. As soon as dedicated servers were stopped alarm bells started ringing. But I ignored them and went ahead and bought the game anyway. Single player was awesome, no denying that but the multiplayer.....hackers, glichers, lame knifers, noob tubers and sniper galore. Then the announcement of a "new" map pack that was mainly rehashs of old maps...with a "New game play mode" that could have been made by any twelve year old programmer. At this point i put my hands in the air and said no.....no I will not buy your fucking shitty map pack for £12.50. After spitting on pc gamers for far too long this was the cherry on the top. But to have the audacity to try to make us pay for this shit? WHY would i pay for a service that has more bugs than a Thai hooker, and more hacks than a Christian science institute?

I've met guys like Kotick before. They have an ability to force reality to change through sheer force of will. As the franchise starts crumbling around him he will keep pushing on saying everything is fine while everyone is running around screaming. He will then pocket the cash he has made and just move on leaving the fans, company and employees without a leg to stand on.....that's if he hasn't fired them all off.

Someone get me the phone number of this guys pot dealer so I can tell him to stop putting crack in his weed.

"audiences are clamoring for it."

*sigh*

Clamoring for it like a punch to the balls... followed by a mugging.

I don't mean to needlessly echo Yahtzee on this, but this presumes people are after the online experience. I personally enjoy single player in most of my shooter games, and if a company wants to make a game 'more fun,' perhaps they should start there! The last time I bought a call of duty game I beat it in a DAY.

GAH!

We all complain about this and say Kotick is the spawn of hell, but at the end of the day 90 % of CoD gamers will probably do the same thing they did with the map packs. Shut up and shell over a ridiculous amount of money for minimum content and then go ***** about it.

I am never buying CoD again. Sorry Treyarch, no offense, but this means Black Ops too.

Can someone accidentally run over Kotick with a car? When it goes to court I'll say you were with me the entire time and you'll never be convicted.
Accidentally?

Mr. Kotick pays his own salary, he is the CEO. Well, that's not entirely true, there is the board of directors, but those assholes don't care about anything other than profit margins so, Kotick's new idea will more likely earn him a raise if anything. Fuck capitalism!!!...ahem...

On the other hand, it's not entirely Kotick's fault. I mean there are people who will pay his retarded subscriptions and grin like the idiots they are.

It's the TV Shop effect: first, they present some horribly overpriced, useless gadget that no one in their right mind would buy ("here, buy our half-finished, bugged, retarded game with soul-murdering DRM for $120"). But then, they start to pile on the extras, gifts and other stuff you get for FREE[footnote]imagine this word in ten feet high, concrete letters with blinking colors and serarchlights[/footnote]. Free stuff makes people go crazy! ("for this sum, you'll get the day-0 DLC, the day-0 patches, that make the game actually playable, and an extra map! YEAH!"). Now the deal is getting better and better in your mind. Enter time-sensitive offers! ("If you pre-order NOW, and we mean NOW, you get our extra special gift, a HORSE ARMOR[footnote]or any gimmicky, totally useless crap, that LOOKS GOOD![/footnote]!"). Now, that $120 deal doesn't look so bad, is it? I mean, all that FREE stuff you get. But the bomb is yet to come, EXCLUSIVE content! ("for a measly $20 a month, you get access to our VIP stuff, behind the scenes videos, a plush keychain and of course ONLINE MULTIPLAYER!"). And you are sold, you start digging for your credit card. I mean, how can you say no to THAT?! It's a fucking giveaway!!

What people don't realize, that all that stuff combined does not worth half that money. They are using very old, dazzling marketing schemes, that are older than the pyramids, and people still eat them like the retards they are. FREE stuff always makes people crazy. Time sensitive offers makes you impulse-buy the shit out of anything! Exclusive content makes you feel like a special snowflake. In reality, none of that is true. There is no such a thing as free lunch. Time sensitive offers get repeated all the time and exclusive content is not really exclusive at all, since anyone can get them if they pay up. It's all a fucking con, nothing else.

I sympathize with pirates more and more. I mean, it's wrong not paying for games at all, but at least they are not so stupid to pay double or triple prices for a piece of shit game...

On the contrary, MS tried to force Square Enix to make sure that ONLY Gold users could subscribe to FF14 unlike FF11 where you could subscribe with only a Silver account. That's why there's no FF14 for the 360 coming. MS will let Activision do this.

final fantasy 11, my friend, you pays your live and you pays your squeenix. and the game aint even that good.
(opinion folks, be kind)

OT, this would stop me from wanting to play CoD. I dont play many MMOGs because of the pay per month structure, thank you Guild Wars for being sensible on my wallet.

@Playbahnosh: I'll admit that I was stupid enough to buy the Stimulus Package for CoD. But so far, I've resisted the temptation of the Resurgence map packs. (Let's just say I've been ripped off by Mr Kotick for the last time.) I think if Mr Kotick does keep going the way he's going - people will have enough of being ripped off.

Though your fine example of the TV Shop effect is a damn fine example of why people are willing to get ripped off. Though another reason why people will get ripped off is because they perceive that everyone else has bought the games and they don't want to be left out of the loop.

Dare I say it, I think a boycott and some angry letters to Activision will make them at least think twice about ripping people off. But unfortunately, us gamers are drawn to games like flies to the bugzapper. But much like you, I'm starting to sympathise for the pirates too, if that's how the likes of Activision and Ubisoft treat their loyal customers - perhaps it's time to shift loyalties.

@AzrealMaximillion: I think I can see why MS forced Square Enix to force only Gold Subscriptions could play FF14 via multiplayer. With Microsoft, multi-player is a Gold Subscription privilege and they spotted those cheeky rascals at Squeenix giving it to Silver Members with FF11. (and making themselves a bit of money out of it, too.)

What Square Enix and Microsoft did was wrong but understandable. Personally, I think Square Enix should not have charged a subscription in the first place. IMO If you want Multiplayer, one goes through Microsoft and pay a flat rate like everyone else. Paying two separate parties for one product is also probably illegal, I think. (I could be wrong here)

@RikSharp: Such measures would stop me from playing CoD, too. I'm going to stick my guns and buy another game. Mr Kotick has got to be stopped somehow.

The gamers are clamoring to pay to play CoD online.
Which gamers are these, you numbskull? The same gamers clamoring for a castration and brutal, no lube anal rape?

For 360 players, it's even more annyoing. £35 for 12 months isn't bad, but fees on top of fees just takes the biscuit.

That's more honhest, Mr Kotick. But you're still a massive, raging wanker.

Okay. So you've made a hugely successful FPS series. Well done you. But there's a problem. People are moving in on your market! Battlefield bad company 2's campaign actively takes the piss out of you! Hell, people who used to work for you have moved onto development for your main rival! and thanks to extortienate (sp?) DLC, a price mark up come out of nowhere, and a series of other douchebag moves, you've become the gaming world's satan! What are you going to do? What could possibly win you back public favour!?

OF COURSE! Adding a subscription fee to the already costly past-time of playing your games, promising new, exciting content which, let's face it, will probabally never come, and if it does, will probabally be extortienately priced anyway!

GENIUS!
