How much more money does the guy need? From what I read on Wikipedia, he already makes something like 600k or 800k a year, what does he need that money for? Does he want to start his own space program?

I went into this article thinking, "this might just be the first time I actually agree with Kotic". However after reading this thread... well, this is basically what he says: "I wants to be able to charge a monthly fee for CoD over XBLA but can't because it's closed".

It's funny really, 'cause at times it feels like Kotic is actually trying to look like the bad guy.

Why bother making this article? Should just be Kotick says something. It was probably greedy and inhuman. End of title. Just add again every new time. I swear, he does this on purpose. He must have the same mental defect that people like Bush and that Iran president guy have.
I must admit part of me thinks that would be awesome, or just have the title for each one being "Kotick is being Kotick again".

Still this really sounds to me like he just wants more money, not a better COD experience. The whole environment that Activision has doesn't sit well with me, it's why I don't buy their games anymore even if I do want them. I just don't like them.

Black Ops is already on Dedicated Servers and it has no subscription fee ( as yet ), and no, I'm never paying a subscription fee for anything other then an MMO.
I won't even go that far, I had Galaxies, loved taht ggame to bits. Then it happened.

Never making that mistake again. Although Kotick's entire complaint is that he can't take controls of the system he publishes for and that (gasp!) somebody else is making money. He really is just a cartoon bad guy. Somebody needs to arrange a meeting between him and a cow catcher.

Because the dude says some golden lines, he's like Pachter but he wants to actually make money out of us, Pachter is desperate for attention, any attention.

Some websites have actually dedicated a page to some hilarious Kotick quotes, my favourite is this one;
"and you can expect virtually all of these properties will be exploited on an annual or close to annual basis!"

What a suprise, he wants more money. Next he will go on about how banks are bad because the money they have isn't his, but only because that will benefit the consumers by giving him more money to use as toilet paper.

That's just his official salary, I would imagine if you add performance bonuses and stock options you're probably going to end up closer to $10 million a year at the very least.

Next CoD for the PC make it subscription based.

problem solved.

and before anyone whines about it, you would be getting your dedicated servers, along with paying to play on them.
Evidently you're not a PC gamer.
I play game on the PC along with consoles if that's what you mean. Unless to be considered a PC gamer you have to have that splint of elitism that always pops up.

THE POINT: Kotick wants to make more money with the CoD series, but is unable to charge extra fees to the 360. A logical choice from Kotick would be making the PC version of the next CoD have dedicated servers that you would have to pay to play on.

do I need to spell it out in my original post of what I meant? or are people that stupid?
Don't ask if people are stupid when you're not using capital letters or proper grammar.

Also: people would have every right to whine about having to pay for something they've always had for free, so your answer can hardly be concluded with "problem solved".

Well to be entirely honest I wonder if people would still be attracted to his game series if he started charging for online multiplayer of a sort that has traditionally been free.

Also I wonder if he's been paying attention to how many people actively complain about XBL Gold membership fees and all. Though I suppose it can be argue that people *DO* pay for Gold despite everything, which I believe is a big part of the problem since it's leading to this kind of mustache-twirling snively whiplash behavior.

Only 34%? I thought it was much more...

Anyway, I was under the impression that CoD is kind of losing steam. I mean, MW2 sold like crazy but I haven't really heard anything about it since it was released. And with the people who worked on it leaving Infinity Ward, I can't help but feeling CoD's time on the FPS throne has passed...

Really?

And all this time I figured people had gold accounts for Netflix, DLC, demos, and a whole bunch of other neat stuff. There's also this little game called Halo that also one of the most played games online.

This is classic greed.

Bobby is just digging his own grave slowly but surely.
I like a fair few of activisions games but goddamn do I hate Bobby Satan more than almost anyone else involved in the industry. He is not a charasmatic person, he doesn't even try to hide the fact he's a greedy prick.
I'm pretty sure they're not in need of direct funding, so why piss off millions of players with subscription fees, it's not like they're actively releasing content besides Map Packs either.

If anything I see this as a:
"Lets get more money to make MW3 quickly and capitalize on people willing to fork out lotsa money for it!, and then do it again!" Bobby gleefully says while sacrificing a small animal to Lucifer, lord of the damned.
The room filled with hookers, guns and a swimming pool made of gold made Bobby cry with happiness while his Blizzard slaves push out more content for World of Warcraft to fuel his satanic after-hours parties at the Activision building.
