Honestly? Everyone hates Rochelle. For shame, Valve, for shame! Real life based characters = bad!

My friends always beat her brains in with a baseball bat everytime they have to play with AI Rochelle.

In conclusion...Zoey= hot.
Rochelle= annoying.

I find Zoey a much more interesting character.

And good god, I HATE Rochelle's ear-bleeding screams!

it's because people probably hate Rochelle's voice, and, admit it, Zoey's voice was really well done. i dunno, i haven't heard Zochelle's voice in a while, so i could be wrong.
PRINCESS PEACH!.

That is all...

Rochelle barely has any lines past the usual gameplay related stuff. Zoey had funny lines for a lot of parts in the first game which made me laugh.

"Oh nice an abandoned cabin in the middle of nowhere, I know how this movie ends" that made me laugh! Rochelle has no lines of the sort which makes her kinda bland and uninteresting.

Now its Ellis that uses it!

My favorites characters are Nick and Francis.

dialouge.
haphazard and often forced. multipule lines are from a comedy called 'Anchorman' however she is not very bubbly nor does she have any lines outside those few vocalizations to denote so. ultimatly the entire vocalization list for Rochelle feels phoned in and largely unfitting of her charicter.

Model.
her model has ackward placement which is unrealistic and very distracting. although all the L4D2 model poses are largely incorrect, (coach holding duelies like a gopher or ellis holding a DEagle one handed) Rochelles is the greatest with her hips rotated out of sync most of the time and arm placement for most all weapons largely incorrect.

Design.
Again, her look does not fit her described and presented personality. being a journalist one would expect her to dress more casually rather than fasionably as people take you more seriously when you are dressed casually. however that isn't how rochelle is dressed, she is more fasionable and dressed in a more relaxed way which conflicts with how she talks and acts most of the time.

if you would of given her something like a button up T instead of 'Depeche mode' bright pink she would of insantly been more accessable.

Okay, so I have heard quite often from a lot of people that Rochelle is a plank of a character, and that she should be replaced with Zoey, because she is obviously a better character.

But is she?

Rochelle is meant to be a journalist I believe, but ignoring this bit of information, as a character she is, in fact, a *****. Though he's meant to be on occasion an irksome character, she's always telling Ellis to hush, and whenever Nick dies she says something along the lines of "well at least he's dressed for a funeral" (someone correct me on that because I'm certain that's not the exact words).

But just by her being a *****, she's got more depth than Zoey. The only thing I've seen people say about Zoey is that she's "a college student or something", and the only entertaining thing I've ever heard her say is "OH MY GOD! NOT BILL!", and besides that she appears personality-lite.

So why is it? Is it nostalgia? Or is it...(don't make me say it)

EDIT: I should point out that the last part wasn't supposed to imply it's because she's black, but in fact by popular opinion, less attractive on all accounts. So there.
To me.. All the new characters from l4d2 are unlikable... They just didn't have as much of an impact to me as the first batch did... Maybe it's because l4d1 takes place in Pennsylvania, and that I can relate to each character realistically in that aspect..

I just found the new batch of characters really dumb and annoying. I was thinking about l4d2 the other day, and I was shocked that even though I did play the game a lot when my friend told me she had purchased 4 games and 1 of them was for me, I could not remember a single characters name besides Nick. I feel that was due to the fact that no matter the scenario, I always got stuck playing him some how.

Fine by me though... I honestly thought he was the least annoying of the 4.

As for Rochelle vs Zoey.. I think it has to do with a lot of things...

Zoey is a unique name... The only time I've heard the name Zoey, was from Sesame Street. So that might have some impact right there, given a unique name.. People will want to remember it more.

Zoey was a college student. We all can relate to what a college student is, and Zoey played the part well.. You can sense that she is the youngest of the crowd in a lot of her quotes from the game. She just fit as a character and her back story matched her personality perfectly.

Rochelle on the other hand is a reporter? Hell I didn't even know that until I read it on here. I don't even recall her saying anything of the sort in game, but then again Zoey was never mentioned as a college student in game either..

Sad part is, I could tell Zoey had to be a college student.. Or at the most part a Senior in High School. Rochelle on the other hand, just seemed too random... I could picture the other 3 characters being friends after the Apocalypse, but not her... She didn't seem to fit in with the other three and it felt like she was just along for the ride until things blow over.

While on the other hand, Zoey got along with the other 3 characters... So that made her more likable because she seemed more approachable? Well.. As Approachable as a game character can get I guess..

Zoey just seemed like some one you could get along with in the end... Even when she was being a smart ass about something, you could tell she was being light-hearted about it. Rochelle on the other hand... Not so much...

I personally hate Rochelle because I feel that the AI controlled teammates got dumber. So when I want to unwind with a quick 25 minute romp through a campaign on easy, they all really get me down. For some reason though, she is always the one to fall behind.
this. in l4d1 i could actually play single player and make it through the campaigns decently...now the infected AI is freaking god mode chess player while my AI's are a bunch of hillbillies with one eye poked out

I'd say it's because the best line they could come up with for Rochelle is "Blarg."

Zoey was a character most gamers could relate too, and had realistic, and sometimes funny lines of dialogue. I rarely hear Rochelle talk, and when she does, it's really annoying. Examples would be picking up an axe and saying "Axe me a question, I dare you." like it's a good, funny joke. Another example is her ear-scraping screaming when at low health.

She's an overall bland character, and for some reason AI Rochelle seems to be much dumber than the rest of the AI-led survivors.
