It's ok, but not that great. Slightly improved graphics, some extra weapons and enemies and dismemberment(which is awesome, I have to admit). But certainly not mindblowing.

It could've just been an addon, tbh.

I wonder if people realise that with the three new Special Infected, the total possible number of Infected Combinations goes from four in Left 4 Dead to thirty in Left 4 Dead 2. Versus is going to fucking own.

No, it couldn't have been. New campaigns, new weapons, new variations on existing weapons, new models/textures all around for existing infected, new characters, new infected, noticably improved AI, Director can switch out geometry. This isn't an addon. It is a whole new version, which is a legitimate reason to sell it as a new product. You don't put that much time, resources, and MONEY for free.

Just because the basic concept is there doesn't mean it is the same game. It is a sequel. Sequels aren't supposed to be this all amazing new game. It is supposed to be the same game, hopefully improved. You don't expect a sequel of an zombie FPS to be a RTS or something, do you?

Well even if it was quite samey, what would you expect? It being a sequel and all.

Sorry but its basically the same game but with a few little upgrades e.g. melee weapons
And new infected, a new AI system, new graphics...yeah, very small.

I'll be happy when Left4Dead2 comes out. I enjoyed the demo. I saw some noticable changes in graphics and the intellect of the AI. A jokey jumped on me and pulled me into a witch, soon after, a boomer barfed on the guys picking me up. I don't know if that was purely a one time thing or not, but it was awesome.
The AI's been improved, the directors better, the wandering witch scared the shiznit out of me. All in all, I'm enjoying it.
The demo says that Left4Dead2 may be better than the first.
The new infected will add more choice for the players in versus, which was one of my biggest gripes in Left4Dead. I played a game where I was the smoker... EVERY SINGLE TIME. Atleast now it'll be a lot harder to get the same infected over and over.

Oh and for the guy who mentioned lag, why don't you host a game and set the game to "local server" instead of "dedicated server". That way, you can make sure at least YOU aren't lagging. It helps. I never had lag until this morning when everyone and their Aunt Sally was downloading the darn demo. Then I just went to local and BAM, perfect connection.

I saw the demo gameplay, and it looked rather different. I love the new items and characters and stages and infected and everything! I can't wait.

Played it through a few times, I'm over all very happy about it.

The gameplay is faster, not as much turtling thanks to the spitter, which is a good thing.
The running to turn alarm off is ten times more intense than just holding out whilst a horde is coming.
The gore is lovely.
I like the new rifle :D

However I don't think the charger does enough damage. He really didn't seem like a threat, even on expert. First time I played expert he charged into 2 of my teammates catching one and smacking the other one out the way, I was expecting them to be near death but it must have taken off about 20 each. (We killed it before it started pounding) 20 each is only twice as much as a common infecteds hit.

I love the spitter, I like how damage isn't done straight away, so you have a second or two to move. Would be overpowered in VS I think otherwise.

Jockey is weird, but I did see him ride one of the survivors off the scaffolding and killing him, so I really want to be him and see if he is useful.

I'm off to play it some more. :D

I loved it, you can tell its going to be much better than the first. I looove the new pistol sound! And the pump action shotgun is pretty amazing. It looks the same as the first but the gameplay instantly strikes you as being different.

You don't know very much about game development, do you?
I can't be bothered to go into it, but how can a game with 5 new maps, 2 new gameplay modes, 3 new special infected, a VASTLY imporved AI system, 4 new characters, at least 10 new guns, a new melee combat system as well as god knows how many weapons for that, new textures, new models, new sound and a whole new way of doing things be released as an add-on? It's not possible. An add-on could be a new map and maybe a new gameplay mode at a push. If they released it as an add-on, they'd have wasted all that manpower for all that time, it would've been more productive to just throw some cash out the window.

Its been a long time since i've played L4D, and I only ever play the single player anymore seeing as finding a game with other people that aren't dicks or idiots is too much effort for me, and with the work shifts i do, my friends are never on.
so i'll probably give it a miss.
will try the demo though, but it would have to be monumentally good to make me consider getting it over DAO, and i can't quite afford both :/

I don't mind it, I just think that it could have been better as a 10 dollar DLC.
Because 5 campaigns, over 20 new weapons, massive improvements to the AI, and a new gore system are all worth 10 dollars.

I loved L4D and now with L4D2, I can't wait for my friend to get it downloaded. I love the added zombie to give you extra flavour, and the big flashing "grenades/weapons/second handgun/pain pills/med kits here" sign really makes me feel good about searching the rooms instead of "Oh look! The flashy sign popped up! Which way is it pointing now?"

Maybe we can have more strategy to multiplayer with these new zombies as well. (anyone wana jockey a survivor into the witch?)
