That's like if Nintendo got rid of Mario...
The only way you could compare Nintendo getting rid of Mario with LEGO getting rid of anything would be LEGO getting rid of the 2x4 brick. That is what made LEGO popular (and what I would call LEGO, Bionicle is something weird their brains coocked up while on crack or somthing).

Pfft. Bionicle was pretty shite to be honest.

I mean, it had a pretty cool backstory, but it became pretty clear they were milking it for all it was worth. The models were not fun to make, and weren't very interesting or fun to play with once made.

Real LEGO will always outshine them. It's just so versatile, so fun to make and just... awesome. Easily my favorite childhood toy. I'm almost tempted to get all my Lego out and play with it when I go home this weekend :p
*Mumbles softly"

I am twenty one and i still play with legos...usualy when my insomnia is bad and im too fidgety to stay still i build like the sulaco or something.

As many of you probably don't know (seeing hoe this is a gaming site) Lego is ending the highly popular Bionicle toy line. And without a big send off either. After some thinking, I've come to the conclusion that the marketing directors at lego are idiots. Why in hell would they throw out one of their most popular series? It makes no sense. Anyone care to elaborate?
They're getting rid of it... I used to love that series it was closed to my beating lego heart. I don't really like lego anymore but still... And it does seem a bit stupid for them to get rid of it seeing as it's is extremely popular.

OT: Oh well I have to admit the new ones are not as good as the old ones. Man those were the good days. *looks off into the distance*

I used to have every bionicle from the first to the two that came out with The Mask of Light. After that I didn't really do anything with them... So I gave them to a charity.

Meh, I never really liked Bionicle...
Me neither. The first sets were okay, but only because they were different.

I'll stick with my Star Wars sets. ;)

I was going to say the licensing might cost too much, but apparently they invented it themselves.

In which case my suggestion is that they've got something new they think will be even better and need to shift production. Bionicle might be in decline and they're cutting it sooner rather than later.

Wait- no big sendoff? Correct me if I'm missing something (which I'm sure I am, as all my knowledge of the storyline comes from browsing the wiki months ago) but didn't the last major plot end with the villain basically killing God and taking over the universe? That's kind of a crummy ending for a toyline.

Good riddance, IMHO. When I was a kid, we'd basically just build the stuff we wanted out of Legos, it'd be a nifty creative outlet. When I first heard about Bionicle, I was ticked off because they pretty much killed the creativity I had associated with Lego and associated it instead with prefab ideas and parts that were intended to be put together only one way.

I thought it was going downhill a bit actually, while some of the new things look cool and all that. They seemed to off the whole Toa defending the land thing.

I remember Bionicle, I had all of the first and second generation sets.

Then I lost almost all of my figures, and then I lost interest.

I had the initial set and the second set, I also got hold of the millenium one they did which i liked, I got all 3 movies and a few other bits and pieces.

Loved that series but i think i'm now a bit too old to care.

Well when I was younger I found them fun, but at the same time I also knew that they weren't anywhere near as good as the original blocks.
