I feel properly sick to share a name with him.

This kinda thing happening with fish or ants or whatever, fair enough but comparatively "intelligent" human beings? No, just no.

The use of a surrogate, fair enough, everything else, just no, a grandmother and grandson having some sort of passionate relationship is wrong. I'm all for being close to your family but not THAT close.

Not sure about the defect side of things, if that is rumour or fact. But one reason incest is illegal is because it messes up family trees and contracts, it's a taboo that is quite logically put in place.

With what I have discerned about this case, there isn't anything wrong about it, other than "Eww, some old lady is gonna have a fucking child!"
If it's all artificial insemination and implantation, then there isn't a single spot of moral high ground to stand on.
Personally, I find nothing wrong with this, or incest.
I only find something off when dealing with making kids w/o insemination and such. Mostly because it could cause issues for the child genetically.

On the subject of the child, I worry about it:

a) Having a mother that's pretty likely to die when it's young

b) Going to encounter a lot of bullying

I don't think incest is an 'illogical taboo'.
It's genetically playing Russian roulette, for one, and, in this case, it just screams 'mommy issues'.
The guy lost his mom, and went search for his Grandmother. Sounds like a bizarre way for him to hold onto the memory of his dead mother, rather then him just 'falling in love' with this 72 year-old woman. 5 bucks says the guy never got along great with his mom, or never felt like he was the best son he could be.

I'm sure we won't agree on this, since objectivity is probably one of those 'illogical taboos' you've mentioned, but this is flat out wrong.

They aren't hurting anyone by being together. I'd question the adoption of the child, but not the relationship itself. Murder is entirely different, you're hurting other people.

Why don't you get off of your high horse. Societies have social norms, get over it. Theses norms evolve, for instance, homosexuality and ethnic mixes are no longer considered taboo. But I can pretty much gurantee that some dude making out with his grandmother will never be looked upon as normal.
