You have already lost. Especially if you're naming something that came out in the last ten years. *Especially* if you're saying XBox Ninja Gaiden, which wasn't hard.
Yep, saw that one coming. "I can tell by the intolerable air of smugness it suddenly generates."

Guitar hero 3, raining blood on expert

IT'S THE ONLY SONG I CAN'T COMPLETE AND IT'S MAKING ME NUTS!
Same here. That song is just ridiculous.
Having a bonus song I'll never be able to play is bad enough (Through the fire and flames), but in the campaign it's sheer frustration.
Also, I second Another World. It's successor, Flashback, had some really ugly parts, too. Of course, those trial-and-error "adventures", "Dragon's Lair" as an example, altogether are games that make me want to eradicate any evidence the game ever existed.

Through the Fire & the Flames on Expert in Guitar Hero 3. WHen the notes started appearing on the screan, I just dropped the controller. I thought beating a game was supposed to make you feel good about yourself, not feel like shit. No one above the age of 9 could even concievably beat it, and I only say that because there's always, ALWAYS some prepubescant little abomination that can do things that no human should be able to do.

Moving to other games, I can't believe no-one's mentioned the Meat Circus in Psychonauts yet.
That one actually wasn't quite that bad. I was playing with a friend at the time, so we were more 'laughing at ourselves in disbelief' (we took turns each time one of us died) instead of 'in a furious rage'. I also found that the whole platforming level where you follow your 'Dad' wasn't that bad - it was really fun, even though I kept dying. That was, I think, one of the few 'I'M DYING ALL THE TIME WHAT THE FUCK' times where I was enjoying myself.

I was in a furious rage in Waterloo World where you had to climb the side of the wall and go all inside it and float over things and other stuff of that nature. It now goes down as my most-hated level of the game, even though when I go back and play it now it wasn't as bad.
I won't forget that oh no.

I'm ashamed to say it, but I got really steamed when I was first fighting GLaDOS. I nearly slamed my 360 controller over my knee, but my knee would've broken before that thing would.

I could go on (I get easily frustrated with things I don't automatically get) but I'll end it here.

Guitar Hero 3 - The Devil Went Down to Georgia (song not boss battle).
I'm a pretty good GH player and I'd beaten every disk song relatively easily but this fucking song took me over a month. What makes it so obnoxious is that it has an easy 2 minute intro and then 5 minutes of pure solo which gets to the point where my hands are actually worn out just from playing the song once. Needless to say, the songs a ***** to pass and even now I still can't pass it without starpower.

Apologies, I do try not to be smug on this subject, but I sometimes wonder if everyone else played the same game I did. I beat Ninja Gaiden a *week* after I bought it, on hard. Then I hear everyone complaining about how it's "the hardest game ever". Did everyone just forget how impossible games used to be? I mean, sure, it was more challenging than some games that come out now, but compare it to... say... any Ninja Gaiden that came before it, and it's far and away the easiest one in the series.

This is because NES games were so unfair that the controllers were built to be thrown against the wall. Repeatedly. Nowadays audiences won't stand for that.

Ninja Gaiden is definitely harder on the NES, but that doesn't make the new Ninja Gaiden easy. MAybe it was easy for you, but to say that no game in the last ten years has been hard comes off as really smug.

Any of the later levels of Devil may cry 3 On Dante must die mode........at all,and not with the super Dante mode kids, oh no. By yourself.

Just try it....just.....just try it man, you'll melt your brain, you will. Dont try and tell me some old Nes game was tougher, that was when controls and logic did'nt exist in games, thats when frustration counted as difficulty.....this is now...live in the now.

Mega Man X6, nearly all the stages in that game made me want to smash my head into the TV screen and bleed to death. Hey is this a platform? OH WHOOPS! That being said, I need to pick up some old Mega Man X games.

1)Psyconauts - the circus meat platforming thing with the rising water. I nearly threw the keyboard through the monitor.
I have the original on PS2 and if it makes you feel any better, it wasn't any easier with a PS2 controller. This is partially due to a stage design error near the end that makes the ladder impossible to climb accept for at a certain angle (the ladder that dips back down and then goes up). Also, unless you're constantly rushing for that part and know exactly what you are doing, there's a good chance that you'll dip into the water when sliding down that ladder near the beginning.

I think it took me somewhere in the neighborhood of one hour just playing the same segment over..and over...

I remember this old game for the SNES called Maximum Carnage. That game was the most difficult f***ing thing ever. I could only get to the second level. Anyone else know about this game?

I didn't say that no game that came out in the last ten years was hard.

I said none of them were as hard as the unfairfest that was Battletoads.

And they weren't. And you should be glad for that.

Shipment on CoD4. Headquarters.

Whenever that bloody thing comes up in a lobby, I just KNOW I'm in for a fist-clenching 15 minutes. Complete and utter grenade-rape.
