Gah what a pointless survey.

Non of those points seemed to address any of the problems with the game. Fable 2 IMHO is still the best in the series, Fable 3 was a huge step in the wrong direction, it wasn't open enough, the "moral" decisions were all so obviously black and white, the sanctuary and the road to rule were wastes of time, and you never really got to do anything once you became king.

The thing's I'd like to see are, once you get to a certain point in the game (say when you've got 1/5 through the main story) you can explore a large portion of the game world, and are rewarded for exploring there should be unique quests and items in areas, and you should only be able to undertake the quests for a notice board or person in the area rather than a drop menu of quests. In Fable 2 and 3 I found I wasn't exploring just pressing start going to the quest list and not looking at the beautiful detailed world around me.

Second get rid of the black and white moral system. Or at least have some shades of grey, where your not sure what the right choice is. I like it when my choices effect my game play, but the effects in Fable 2/3 aren't interesting. If I'm evil people might run away from me, if I'm good they flock round and praise, sure some decisions affect areas (like giving the warrant papers at the start of Fable 2 to the guard or criminal effects the old quarter) but they are so obviously good vs. evil. More choices like that at the beginning of Fable 3 would be nice, or if you want an example of grey moral choices effecting gameplay see Alpha Protocol.

The Road to Rule and Sanctuary were messy and I felt like I was wasting my time in them. Get rid of them please, a simple menu screen is good enough.

If I'm going to become an important figure in the world i.e. King, then my actions should matter. When I became king I was expecting some sort of management system, I could manage the kingdom and army and so forth instead we got to make the occasional black and white moral choice and that was it.

is there an option to say...make it suck less?
I wish.
Its because it works on a ranking system i.e. if you decide dogs are an importance level of 5 and then u decide trading is an importance level of 5 it will delete dogs' tack since only one thing can hold the "fifth place" slot

Its a horribly bad way of doing it but whatever its their survey they can make it as user-unfriendly as they want

Lionhead, I just have one thing to say...
Give a raise to whoever writes the gravestones. That guy deserves money. Lots of it.
This, the stones in fable 3 were hilarious.

"In loving memory of Arnold. He won't be back."
"JC Tailor. Eaten alive by hamsters."
"You´ve travelled to the future and this is your grave. Just kidding."
"Cpt.Sparrow. Where did it all go wrong?"

If I recall there was also one about wandering into the long grass.
NOT INTO THE LONG GRASS!

Love that movie.

None of these.
All the choice features Fable crams in are its worst features. Fable 1 was acceptable because it had a nice story arc and knew its aims.
The last 2 were a mess because they want everyone to like it.

After doing the survey, I believe this is just a PR stunt to win back some of the fan base after the fucking horrible Fable 3 (if you haven't played it... DON'T!!!). Having to put the subjects in order I think is a stupid move.

We should be able to rate each aspect individually to show what we hate/like the most. I believe that having the dog and having the freedom to marry random bland NPC's should share the number one spot, but no I have to pick one over the other. I also noticed there was not a place to rate the combat.

If you haven't played the game or just want an organized list of why Fable 3 game SUCKS BALLS, then go to this link and watch the video:

A lot of people are complaining about the poll. A ranking survey is a legitimate a method of measuring data. It serves to answer a specific question the researcher may have.

That said, I gave the online co-op least priority, followed by local co-op and the dog third least priorty. I don't remember the rest (Lore was like...third highest?). I pretty much just want them to pretend that Fable II (haven't played 3 and wont. It looks even worse than 2, as hard a feat as that is to pull off) didn't happen and build off of the original and the lost chapters.

can someone post the options? I'm curious to see how people here answered.

Here's a suggestion, Molyneux: Don't make Fable 4. IMO, Fable should have stopped after the second game. Molyneux should apply all that unbounded enthusiasm on a more focused game. Yahtzee explained it pretty well in his Fable III Extra Punctuation article.

The entire time I was reading this thread, the more and more I thought of Yahtzee's article on Molyneuxs [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/columns/extra-punctuation/8586-Extra-Punctuation-Molyneuxs-Unfocused-Innovation], especially when I read "How important is your dog?". I just don't think good ole' Petey here is innovating for the right reasons.

I highly doubt that this survey will bring forth anything productive. Every single one of those options are extremely general and don't specify anything about the game. Nothing good will come out of this because the best anyone can say here is "Yeah, freedom is important!" and that's it, not what types of freedoms, or what choices, or what world morphing, or what specific changes could be made to make this experience better.

All this is going to do is encourage Molyneuxs and his team to continue with the same innovation process, which is to innovate in completely arbitrary and pointless areas.

[sup]Though, to be fair, I have only read and heard about the Fable series. Every time one of the games come out, people complain about it in relation to the previous one. Also, some people really don't like Fable. [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oSaw85bliyQ&playnext=1&list=PLDD8E9A572F07E7BD][/sup]

Is there someway to tell them that a truly modern progressive game should allow you to get the dog drunk and then marry it? Because it has to appeal to everyone!

1st one, brilliant still enjoyable to this day
2nd one, err not too bad, over a bit quick and far too easy
3rd one, crap, totally forgot what the original brought to the table (it's charm) and full of nothingness. It doesn't matter if you play the game good or bad it makes no difference to the ending or how people react to you.

On a personal note I was a Fable fan, from before the first game was published I was giddy and now I am nothing but the broken shell of my former self, I can't blame it all on fable but I believe it to be Peter Molyneux's fault !

Actually put some goddamn depth into the characters, at least some that extends beyond just different names.

Stop making every feature of the game feel so damn contrived. When I play a Fable game, I can almost feel the people at Lionhead going "Huh, wonder if this would work". Creativity is cool, but get some damned cohesion already.

And secondly, depth. In every Fable game, I saw the attempt at drama and emotional connection, but it was always rather predictable, or just... fell flat. There really was never a point in a Fable game where I went "Awwwwwww... NO!". I don't know. I want the genuine compelling emotion there. It's pretty much the only reason I play RPGs, bugger the combat and all else. That's what made my mouth water when Peter described Fable II as a game focused on love and relationships, and where they ultimately take you. Then it just... never came.

C'mon. You guys are English. Can't you hire Neil Gaiman as a consultant or something? Get that novel-esque depth and relational experience with the world and characters in it? I'm just not feeling it. I finished Fable III and no inclination to play through it again as the other morality. Or to continuing playing the one game that I finished. Hell, I'm want to get rid of it altogether. I find this problematic, and I feel Lionhead should as well. The ideas are there, and they're wonderful. But Peter and his team really need to learn a thing or two when it comes to execution.

That's just my 2 cents.

I'm sorry something can't be a "staple of the series" when it's only been in two out of three games.

In fact "A staple of the series since Fable 2" is brilliant because "A staple of the series since." Can only be 2. If it were 1 there would be no since. If it were 3 it couldn't be a staple (only appearing in one game) :D

I'm not sure if these are meant to be things we'd *like* to see in Fable, or if Lionhead thinks they're in the Fable games already. If it's the latter, these are kind of loaded.

"Emotional connections through drama: Fable games offer an emotional story, with great cast and a compulsive story." No, they don't. The story is totally irrelevant in Fable. There are no compelling characters, meaning no drama. Where can I pick that option?

"Lore: All Fable games are connected through the lore and the (back) story, characters and mysteries. (E.g. Old Kingdom, Guild ...)". None of that has mattered at all since the first game. The only unifying character is Theresa; she only appears for brief moments and her motivations are wholly unexplained. The Old Kingdom has not been mentioned since Lost Chapters. The only thing that carries over is "there are Heroes in Fable." There's no relevant lore at all.

Also, I know it's a ranking system, but still, it's really annoying that you can't give more than one option the same rating. > : (
Agreed. The way the "survey" is formatted suggests they're looking to find out which departments gets an extra big raise for (in LHS's eyes) doing their job, rather there figuring out where any of the games were lacking.

The "British humour" question irked me. Fable isn't funny, witty or charming. It's constant asinine attempts at being funny make me cringe. It's hard to feel any connection to the world, the plot or any of the characters when the whole game revolves around everything being some rubbish joke.

Well Lionhead, how about this? release the freaking game on PC already and I'll give you a comprehensive review... how about that?
Yes, this here! I'd be delighting in (or reviling) Fable III right now if it was on PC. Fable II, as well.
