Here's the thing,

If George wants to keep tweaking the Star Wars movies, he can. Because they are his movies. If he wants to add Jar Jar to every scene he can, because they are his movies. If he wants to add cheesy one liners and other goofs he can, because they are his movies.

If he wants to destroy what made them good then he can, because they are his movies.

Did a wise man not once say, 'A work of art is never finished'?
What about paintings, and music albums, and literature? Who the hell said this again?
Music Albumns are often re-recorded and given a different twist, books have been remodelled to talk to a modern audience, and paintings? Well...dunno about THAT one :p
But you can see the logic behind the idea, right?

?A work of art is never finished, it?s just abandoned?. Margaret Olley.

?Art is never finished, only abandoned.? Leonardo Da Vinci

You stop this all by refusing to buy it... but you KNOW you'll buy it. George knows you'll buy it. It's OUR fault this happens!

All this rage could be avoided if Lucas would release the original cut in a limited edition. Fans would so eat that crap up and everyone gets what they want.

WTF George! You don't need words to convey one of the greatest scenes in Star Wars!

This is why I don't follow anything George does after the original three unedited movies... I only read certain books that expand Star Wars, that does not effect or change anything from the original trilogy.

Off Topic: I hope SWTOR story will not disappoint me too much. Each class story is written by a different writer and I hear the two Jedi class stories are below average compared to other classes... I hope it's just biased opinions.
I would tell you but I can only say that there is a Beta test and that I am a tester.

ok that's it, I didn't especially care about Greedo shooting first and I even managed to overlook Luke's lightsaber going from blue, to green, to blue again in the DVD of A New Hope, hell I didn't even mind that god-awful Han/Jabba conversation (also A New Hope) but this is a step too far

*bangs head against desk* I will never understand you, star wars fans. I'm sorry, but this is actually better than the original, in that it actually gives you a better idea of what is happenning in vader's mind. The fact that any new star wars content that comes out is treated like the plague is ridiculous. It's just sad how many people refuse to let this franchise go away, yet call the old ones some sort of masterpiece, which they weren't.

Maybe it's because I didn't grow up during the right time, or maybe it's that the only thing that I have any nostalgic bias to is the lord of the rings movies, but otherwise you can tear all the thing I ounce enjoyed as a kid to shreds with no mind from me. I don't know.

Can someone please explain why these films are apparently 2 hour long mona lisa's?

If I were re-cutting that scene (and, let's be honest, it doesn't really need it), as Vader looks on as Luke is microwaved, I would intercut snippets from the prequels -- half-remembered pieces from Anakin's past, little pieces, nudges from Palpatine that he'd never put together before. The flashback fragments would show Vader realizing: Palpatine had set him up from the start.

He would also remember losing Padme, who (he still believes) died at his hand. Now he is confronted with losing the son he barely knew (and the daughter he never will). And so, [em]silently[/em], he turns, grabs the Emperor, and throws him down the tower shaft.
Not too bad an idea, all said. I mean, I don't see it as being entirely necessary, but its a lot better than what he did.

*bangs head on computer desk*

Sigh. Well, I was going to be spending $90 for the Blu-ray set. I'm glad I don't have to anymore.

Okay, I'll say it: I liked the prequels. Well, I liked the third one, at least. Episodes one and two were all right.

And I liked most of the remastering up to this point, like making Boba Fett's voice sound like Jango's.

But this? This is just stupid. It completely kills the scene. This actually does ruin the climax of the movie. And that sucks.

Screw you, George Lucas.
