Yay! Now let us hope this doesn't cause a comeback of LulzSec.

Also am I the only one who thinks that a TV show about a hacker who turns on his comrades and helps the FBI catch criminals to keep his kids would be awesome?

Regardless of how many more arrests are made because of Monsegur's cooperation, the FBI believes this spells the end of LulzSec. "This is devastating to the organization," another official said. "We're chopping off the head of LulzSec."

Good luck with that.

Now the real war will begin.
you hit the nail on the had with that picture, every time something on the internet is forcibly removed at least two "heads" will grow back. whether its forums, file sharing, hacking or databases. the hydra that is the internets will just grow back

I like the picture and I thought the same thing.

OT:
Catching a hacker that has been committing crimes: Well done
Convincing him to help the FBI: Cool
Parading him around in front of the public, full name, and personal family information?
One hell of a way to protect your investments, unless they have him in protective custody somewhere.

The difference between an informant and live bait can be fairly tenuous in the eyes of law enforcement. If people start to attack him for working as an informant, they can simply monitor attacks and patterns to get those people too.
The FBI doesn't really care what section or class of hacker you are or why you did it, all they want is another freshly kicked ass to hang off their mantle.

I am curious to see if the hydra metaphor really holds up though. This is one of the first times a group of people who went out of their way to thumb their noses at law enforcement has been so thoroughly dismantled. Now that anonymous hackers have seen that the FBI really do have teeth, I would wonder if they'll so readily attack and announce.

Good thing they've been caught, but doesn't this kind of leave a bitter taste to you?

Quite a number of people seem to think that cutting the 'heads' off of LulzSec will stop them. Clearly, the twits don't know how anonymity works.

They'll just replace them. LulzSec doesn't NEED leaders. It simply needs people who will hack for lulz. Hence the name.

Cutting off the heads will result in MORE heads. They attacked the 'hydra' in the worst possible way.

Then they revealed the NAME of the dude who helped the FBI.

This just shows the FBI really has no idea what they're doing. At all.

Why do people expect there to be retaliation for this? They are a bunch of idiots behind keyboards in their home, not master criminals with millions of pounds of resources. They will all fold and all will be arrested. They would be retarded if they tried something now. They will lie low or stick to harassing 13 year old girls like they used to.

Also some in Lulsec are in Anon as well and will know some of the members - not the script kiddies, but the important players that are given certain tasks because they are good at that task.

"Don't worry kids, Daddy is here. He's a coward and a rat, who hid behind you instead of suffering the consequences for his actions, but he's here."

These guys pissed me off so much. I was hoping something like this would happen. Other than the stuff they were accomplishing, this is actually funny.

Good riddance.

I always found this picture rather curious. I don't know how it's possible to so horribly screw up the spelling of the word "Nothing."
