Oh this sounds like a fun thread. I better consult the generic action game machine.
The Windsturm:
500 years ago there was a nuclear war that, while not wiping out like, was very devastating for the inhabitants of this planet, which is named... um... "Exion".
The war was cleaned up, however, and nature recovered. Societies rebuilt.
However, as a remnant of this catastrophe, a genetic anomaly, known windstrum (as named by the scientist who first discovered it within himself, and often referred to as strum), is present in the population. Strum manifests itself when the "Carrier" is put under stress, be that bullying, or intense labor. Even stressful office work.
The symptoms of strum include a change of hair colour to white, and the darkening of eyes colours to black. Other factors include increased intelligence and memory, as well as increased dexterity and balance. Some are noted to radiate a faint light, but that is just rumour. (Not to the point of crazy xmen powers).
Over the past few years strum has increased in frequency. Those people who are affected by it are ridiculed. They are fired from their jobs for no particular reason. Evicted from their homes, and even banned from certain regions. The emphasis of modern society, in order to avoid this "condition" is to ensure that nobody encounters stress of any kind. For those living in the "exclusion zone", the world might seem to be a perfect place.
However, for those who are evicted, life is quite the challenge. Forced to live in "safe regions", countless people, formerly doctors, scientists, teachers and criminals, try to live out their lived in fear of a constant and cruel military force.
You begin your game in the story of Elyne, an 8 year old girl.
She lived a happy life in a region of the exclusion zone, named Maylin. A region noted for its shopping centres and high quality education suites. Inhabitants also enjoy a lively night life where there is minimal crime and no curfew.
Things change for the worse when Elyne's mother Leyanna, is diagnosed with strum. Following the usual course, chosen by politicians, Leyanna is relocated to a safe area. As Elyne has nobody else to care for her, she also goes with her mother.
***Game starts with Elyne on a street to get groceries from a local shop. Coming from a much cleaner and safer city, neither Elyne or her mother are aware of the dangers that exist here. Supplies are available, enven if not the type of shops she has grown up with, but at least she was moved to an area where supplies make it through most of the time. While not as rich as an exclusion zone, the safe zones have a thriving economy in just about any type of trade or product one can think of.
On her way back, Elyne is Kidnapped or something. Either was she is taken to the home of the villain for the beginning of the game. (But of course, later on there is a plot twist that changes who the real villain is). Either way, Elyne undergoes Windstrum manifestation and attempts to fight her way out.
There are isolated reports of chidren undergoing Windstrum manifestation. However, these reports indicated that manifestation is much stronger in children. As such, Elyne is much stronger than most adults, much faster and has a strong electric glow. The glow makes her more visable, however, she can focus the energy into electric shuriken (cause thats a wonderful idea!!!!), or she can repress the glow and become almost invisible to her opponents. Also her hair turns purple instead of just white.
This idea would be great on a 3rd person game such as the batman engine.
