Now, see, I was planning to painstakingly soak each page of the bible in nitroglycerin and use an electric razor battery as the fuse. It was going to be a super awesome plan, very intricate and impressive.

After reading this, I should just bring a bazooka. As long as it's loaded, they'll probably miss it.

No, I shoot him, problem solved, or he leaves me alone when he finds out I'm armed. These people are cowards, they rarely if ever prey on those with the means to defend themselves. Besides, gun laws don't work anyway, but that's an argument for another thread.
I don't get it... if everyone had a gun, why wouldn't he have pulled the gun on you first ? Its definitely the easiest and most cowardly way of robbing someone. I could definitely see you trying to reach for your gun and getting shot, or shot at (aim is always questionable).

Also, why are you guys suggesting everyone on a plane carry a gun... do you have any idea of the logistical damage a single discharge could cause on a plane ? Air pressure, electrical shortages, etc etc. Last i remember the Air Marshalls need special hollow bullets to try and reduce as much damage as possible in the case the bullet misses its target.

The Terrorist wouldn't even need a weapon anymore, the panic and histeria alone would destroy the plane when a bunch of people start firing at someone, who misses, who hits someone else, who gets shot Back at...

Reality check please guys.

A man made it through security, onto a plane, and to his destination with a loaded handgun in his carry-on.

The holiday season is one of the busiest travel times of the year, but this isn't an oversight that can reasonably be chalked up to busyness. Farid Seif...
Wow... looks like those "random searches that just happen to target arabs" really are randomised.

Fuck plastic knives, it's time to start just fucking chuckin' AK-47s into duffel bags and be on their merry way.

At least he got to report it himself, keeping out of trouble. I'm assuming the, "I didn't know it was in there" excuse wouldn't of worked the other way around.

1. They're going to target people that are unarmed, it's much less risky.

2. It's still better to have a gun and at least have a chance then none at all. it's not like he's going to mug you unarmed because you're not armed.

3. I thought we were talking about guns on the ground, not on an aircraft, though if a terrorist hijacks a plane and can't see the passengers being armed making the situation worse since they're going to kill you all anyway, and probably kill more people in the process. I'd still rather have only trained personell since they would be less like to panic and start shooting over nothing, preferably with something with low penetration.

I'm sure the TSA has stopped quite a few people but the rules and screening get to the point where what they stop is not increased from one technique to another. Theoretically it should but in reality it doesn't.

This is hilarious. If it weren't for the fact that one bullet could destroy the entire aircraft, I'd say let people have guns on the planes. A terrorist would never attack a place with a bunch of armed americans.

Also, high five to this guy for carrying a gun with him everywhere, we need more like him.

Ha, too true. I think it's funny how taking away the guns doesn't actually do anything about crime.

I'm pissed off now. I got a flight delayed by 2 days because someone had a bottle of aspirin in their pocket. They said it was suspicious and needed testing because "the bottle was red"
Extensive testing revealed that the red bottle of aspirin was in fact a red bottle of aspirin. 2 fucking days in an airport, and this guy gets to walk on a plane with a loaded pistol?
Bunch a motherfuckers.

Well to be fair the man's name was Farid Seif, if they would've stopped him it would've been racial profiling. It's much better to stop the 60 year old white woman with some shampoo in her bag.

In the original artical is says
A TSA spokesperson says the agency has conducted an investigation, saying remedial training was provided to the security officers involved in the incident. Advanced imaging technology and more stringent pat downs have also since been implemented.
WAIT WHAT.
THE GUN WAS IN HIS BAG NOT A HOLSTER HOW DOES THIS HELP.

"Today someone kicked the TSA right in the nads. So the TSA decided to wear a helmet to protect it's jewls and feel yours instead."

I'm also pretty sure that the guy with the LEGAL, PERMITTED GUN realized he had it when he was on the plane nothing would happen. If someone did something, I'm fairly certain he would use said gun to prevent them from doing anything.

If everyone on the plane had a loaded weapon no terrorist attacks could ever take place successfully.

"ALLAH AKB---*BLAM*"
The issue with that is when people have a .40 cal and over penetrating into the shell of the plane, or the kid sitting behind the terrorist

"Let's see here: toothbrush, shaving cream, loaded handgun...wait a minute! Sir, what are you doing with shaving cream in your carry on? Don't you know how volatile the chemicals in this can are at high altitudes? Please walk with my associate here for a full-body scan and pat down."

Edit: "Oh, and don't forget your handgun, sir. Have a nice day."
Reminds me of South Park. "Toilet paper, toilet paper, toilet paper- now you kids be careful with this chewing gum, don't be sticking it under desks or anything!"

"Okay!"

"Let's see... toilet paper, toilet paper..."

OT: Frankly, I'd like it if people with state-issued carry permits could take their guns anywhere, instead of people making us get protection from the police who aren't required to give it.
I almost busted out laughing at work from this. Thanks, I needed it =D

I find it worrying enough that people can wander around with loaded handguns, let alone take them on planes. Every part of this story is silly.
Me too.

It's like we have the ability to defend ourselves from those with criminal intentions or something.

A bullet going through the hull of a plane will do nothing. A wall of the plane won't fly off the side, there won't be an explosion, nadda.
