Why are they debating whether or not the people who assisted him should be charged?

Last I was aware, helping a criminal is also a crime. I'd imagine they were fully aware they were implicating themselves in a crime.

Since some of his friends were technically offering him tips via Facebook, authorities are now debating whether or not they should charge these people with Obstruction of Justice.
I really hope they do. If the cops let this slide, who knows what people will use Facebook to do next. They need to step in and make a clear point that posting something on Facebook is just as legally binding as-if they were in the hotel room themselves offering him those pointers.

aren't SWAT supposed to kill cellphone receptions?

or is that only in movies?

seems unlikely that there aren't any landlines

geez, if the SWAT used any type of out of the box thinking here, they could have easily led him to a compromised situation with strategically place wall posts. opportunity: missed.

lolretard.
I'm surprised/not surprised that he's getting support. And the people that gave him tips SHOULD get charges for Obstruction of Justice. After all, they did help the criminal.

He was obviously an unstable and selfish individual. That he chose to make his pathetic, morally horrid crime a matter of public amusement is only an irksome reminder of how socially backward can become through technology.

facebook bites the big one (yet again.)
Or more accurately, how socially backward someone can be on account of being... evil?
I guess i did frame that the wrong way. What i really meant is that ultimately, what would be simply a social forum (at best) can be a means for moral ambiguity and an indulgence for those who have no morals to begin with.

but yes, evil, most definitely.

Watch out, you might get banned. One of my friends got banned for something like what you said.

And don't they have shotguns? Oh right, hostage. Well, flashbang? Toss it in, run in and tackle him to the ground.
huh... no kidding. thanks for the heads up.

yeah, a flashbang should do the job.

This is just going to happen more and more. People post their whole lives on Facebook and Twitter; those who grow up with it are going to find it entirely natural to describe their crimes as well. I am looking forward to the first bank heist/drug deal/whatever foiled due to it being posted online in real time.

And yes, those people helping him out should be charged with obstruction of justice. It's just as if they told him via megaphone.

Apparently, they did. I checked his page, cuz you know it's still public for some reason, and he lost access to his phone but he probably was still connected through Wifi or a cord or something.

It's like humans have an infinite well of stupidity from which to draw upon. if only stupidity was good for more than just the lulz, we'd have conquered half the universe by now.

EDIT: This could be a really sick Verizon commercial, too.

What is this I don't even....

No, really. What the Hitchcock motivates someone to update on facebook in a situation like that? What. The. HELL?

Also, is there not a single member of that dude's extended family who could put a single correct sentence together?

Here follows inarticulate frustrated keyboard-hammering.

This is hilarious, only made funnier by the people defending him, also have you seen the pic of his car? that is some funny shit that only accomplishment is to make him look like more of a dick. Anyway, I don't see what motivates people to update facebook so much, for some reason, I much prefer actually speaking to people :/

How and why would someone shoot themselves in the chest?
Not too mention how much more difficult it is to shoot yourself in the chest than any other part of the body. This would be more plausable if he shot himself in the leg. or the shoulder. or the arm. or the head.... Or if SWAT just said they shot him in the chest.
