I'd like to remind everyone that this is a teaser and hence does not represent the entire game. Remember the ME2 teaser? Everyone thought it meant that they killed Shepard but while it was true there much more to the actual game.

For me, I think the game will start off with this but rather than save the Earth, it is actually destroyed. That's something we don't often see and would make the game more personal and dark. Also, it should be a possibility to actually fail and loose to the Reapers, just like it's possible to die at the end of ME2.

He does say "All over the city," but he doesn't say "all over the world."

I'm in two minds about this, as I sit here in my N7 hoodie.

Firstly, obviously, YAY MORE MASS EFFECT!
But conversely... more Mass Effect? This was as inevitable as sunrise! This teasing was wholly unnecessary!

I want that guy on my team. NOW. We need an interesting human ally, and you can't get any better than an English badass.

No, Zaeed didn't count.

Words can't describe how epic that looks :D

Although: Jason Stathamy looking/ sounding chap and VTOLS. Really EA? Are you promoting Mass Effect 3 or Crysis 2 here, or both?

Here
Wrong doctor.
The right man in the wrong place can make all the difference in the world.

These are not VTOLS, but Mantis gunships (yeah, they look almost same). They're part of ME universe.

The funny thing about this trailer is that someone with no prior knowledge of the Mass Effect series would watch this and think that it's another grey futuristic shooter about Earth being taken over by aliens. I'm willing to bet that very little of the game will actually be set there, as the implications toward the end of the trailer are that Shepard will be off doing his own thing, possibly rallying an attack force Dragon Age-style or battling Reapers in other parts of the galaxy as well, since I highly doubt the Reapers are only attacking Earth.

But anyway, yeah, I don't think anyone on the face of the planet has ever been more excited for anything than I am for this game.
Yeah, I bet theres lots convincing counsellors and alien races to give a flying f*** about Earth and its colonies. After all, they don't really like us.

Shadow Broker gave some nebulous hints as to Prothean Macguffins Shep may be using to kill the reapers. We also don't know what the Quarian's dark energy research will show up.

End descision of ME3 - Pwn Sol with dark energy, into a supergiant, irradiating earth and destroying the majority of the reaper fleet, but turning the humans into colony-bound vagrants? I can see it happening.

Look at the Perseus Arm of the galaxy. We know that the Human and Krogan homeworlds are there, the turian homeworld would logically be in a similar location. Also judging from the finale of ME2, the reapers are having to enter the galaxy under whatever their standard propulsion systems are. They'd have to be pretty fucking stupid to head straight for the citadel with the combined navies of 3 races snapping at their heels the whole way.

No point in holding the citadel and closing off mass relays when the entire galaxy's already there by the time you reach it. The citadel was only an 'I win' button if Nazara was able to activate it, thus allowing the reapers instantaneous access and catching the galaxy with it's pant-equivilants down.

The only thing a mantis gunship can't do compared with a space fighter of similar size and armament is FTL travel. Assumedly they're cheaper and would be better suited to a planet-based defense.

I suspect the game will pan out something like this:

1) Shepard races to the assistance of Earth, gets arse handed to him/ her.
2) Shepard regroups with human resistance, someone mentions the legend of an ancient Prothean weapon.
3) Shepard spends the majority of the game acquiring said weapon, then duct-tapes it to the front of the Normandy.
4) Shepard heads back to Earth, quoting THIS http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UmvnXKRfdb8
5) ???????????????
6) Profit

:D
