*Gasp*
I suppose all of my violent childhood toys spurred me to make that violent statement.
Seriously though...
Does anyone remember when kids toys were just cool, and nobody was peering over our parents' shoulders and saying, "You shouldn't buy that for your child because it will make them kill (insert gender/race/religion here)."
The CCFC are idiots, plain and simple! All they want is attention.
A non-governmental organization (NGO) is a legally constituted organization created by natural or legal persons that operates independently from any government. In the cases in which NGOs are funded totally or partially by governments, the NGO maintains its non-governmental status by excluding government representatives from membership in the organization. The term is usually applied only to organizations that pursue some wider social aim that has political aspects, but that are not overtly political organizations such as political parties. Unlike the term "intergovernmental organization", the term "non-governmental organization" has no generally agreed legal definition. In many jurisdictions, these types of organization are called "civil society organizations" or referred to by other names.crepesack said:It's an NGO. That doesn't mean that they are speaking for the government. Even conservative radio stations receive money from the government. Please, don't be a bigot and learn the difference between subsidies and sponsorships.chrono16 said:A non-governmental organization (NGO) is a legally constituted organization created by natural or legal persons that operates independently from any government. I'd put money on that they get money from the Gov.
HA! It was sarcasm. I just found them having issues with particular toys, rather than toys in general. I felt that being exposed to low-level violence was a lesser evil that the food itself and why the toys are packaged this way.Travis Higuet said:It seems to me that your post hints at the very same totalitarian streak that motivates this ridiculous organization. The difference being that you think you have a better angle. At no point in the article did I read any religious message from the CCFC. You read that into it, because you detest religion, and imagine that it is at the heart of censorship you supposedly hate. I'd bet you at 10 to 1 odds, that this organization is secular. Their name implies a leftist bent, not a religious one. I'm personally not religious, but I always get a kick out of watching big government leftists wail and gnash their teeth every time they think somebody BESIDES them, is trying to censor people. Perhaps you've forgotten the Parents Music Resource Center, or the Fairness Doctrine, the latter of which even now many of the current fascists on the left would like to resurrect?Generic_Dave said:Surely the ploy of using toys to manipulate children to demand their parents bring them to eat fatty, non-nutritional foods is more a cause of outrage than a few plastic toys...but then again I have children's best interests at heart, not an insane puritanical streak.
I suppose I may have read more into your post than is there, but I think I've managed to get a pretty good bead on where you're coming from your first line.
a hoop down a road with a stick sounds pretty fun!!!!ShadowKatt said:Never heard of these people before, but they need to crawl off in a corner and die.
Exactly what do their own kids do for fun? Push a hoop down a road with a stick? I can only assume that since most toys are commercialized in some way or another, that they're not allowed to have any, and that is going to breed a rather disturbed adult. An adult that never had a childhood because their friend Timmy or Sally had a GIJoe or a Barbie and their parents didn't want their children to be corrupted by the blatant commercialism that made the toys popular.

that's why the CFCCMRPOGHDICKWARDS are out to stop SuperHeroes!! because this is their evil plan to take over the world!! it started with Twitlight and has now moved to Stimulation-Deprevation!! the Horror of having too much fun must be stop!! OH THE BUGGERY!BaldursBananaSoap said:Kids have been playing with superhero and Army action figures for years. How is this bad in any way? And aren't superheroes kind and out to get rid of evil law breakers and such?
Sure, but something is freedom and something else is animal cruelty, bad quality of the food and health diseases.Travis Higuet said:Why would you like it to disappear? Nobody forces you to eat there right? I assume you live in the US, and if so, you must realize that you live in a free society. Where people are free to make their own choices (this is where it gets dicey) EVEN WHEN YOU DISAGREE WITH THOSE CHOICES.Khaiseri said:I never liked McDonalds. I would actually like that it disappears. But their excuse to remove them is kinda pointless. I would have a lot more reasons to retire those games...
