I like THQ, they seem to be pretty accepting but yearning for something new and awesome. I've seen videos of metro 2033 and felt that the game looked pretty fantastic. I may pre-order homefront just to get it for free.
Metro 2033 is one of the best shooters to come out in the last 3-4 years. Definitely pick it up ASAP.

If it does have CoD shooting mechanics, then I'll waste less bullets on the fucking LIBRARIANS! But then that was what made it intense on the PC, losing bullets and fumbling around all survival horror like.

You could complete that level by only killing like one librarian I think. I can't remember exactly. But on my second playthrough I certainly didn't kill many of them. Also the tesler gun thing killed them in 2 shots.
Is it okay i feel overly badass for killing each one of them with a knife?

I know a Ukrainian and I love introducing him to people as "my Russian friend" because he always gets mad, lol.

OT: I don't know why games would aspire to compete with Call of Duty. CoD is it's own style of shooter, and I don't want a dozen clones in different historical or fictional settings. For example, Battlefield might seem similar, but I view it as a totally different style of FPS, and even though BC2 did not sell as much as MW2 or Black Ops, it's still a successful game

You were supposed to avoid those... thats why killing one is an achievement.

I didn't have any problem with the gameplay or shooting mechanics. It's the lag that got me.

Aren't they americanising it by changing the shooting mechanics to compete with CoD? I thought the whole point in Metro 2033 was you were just a survivor not Mr. Pop-a-cap McShooterson (or the Ukranian Equivalent).
I believe you were looking for Pop-a-cap McShootersky.
Nah nah too polish still. Mr. Pop-a-cap Ivanoshootervich.

Hell, I would buy this game before I'd ever buy another COD game, that series has long since died in my eyes.

I thought the first one was great so I'm glad to hear that their supporting the second one more. Although I never had any problems with the controls or shooting in Metro 2033, but they might be talking about consoles with that part.

Metro 2033 looks good, but I haven't played the first two thousand and thirty two games yet...

...Which is why I would invite THQ into my bed and have my way with it.
You can see they are publishers who let developers do their thing, and come out with really powerful games.

METRO 2033 is my favourite game of all time since last year, when i finished it. I simply loved it. The only major complaint I have with it is that the PC requirements are WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY to high..all I want is something more optimised for us PC gamer out there and i`ll be happy ^_^

My first thought when I read the headline was "then maybe Logan won't whine so fucking much when/if he plays 2034 as he did while playing 2033", lmao. Yeah, I will die before I forget that abomination of a review.
I get that you feel strongly about the review, but bringing it up nearly a year after it was written is bordering on the obsessive. If I were you, I'd have a think who you're actually making look bad with these kinds of comments.

What setting did you have that on? I mean is that even possible?

The knife takes like 4 swings or more to kill a nosalis.
I did play it on hard since it was a post-apocalypse game, and its possible, its just really hard (slash twice, run, medpack, slash, desperate tantrum), and its nerving as hell, though i dident die in that section so i did something right.

changing the gameplay sounds like a good idea, but not the story and overall feel of the game. that would just suck

Er...who said the gameplay of STALK--er...Metro 2033 was bad?

Names. Give me names! I must break their windows with bricks. :|

Seriously, Metro 2033 was a (admittedly linear) masterpiece, simply because it was atmospheric, the graphics were amazing on high-end machines, the guns handled like they probably should in the real world, and the combat was just plain fun.

Admittedly, there were a lot of problems plaguing it...like the fact it was terribly linear and there were some interesting game mechanics that weren't actually implemented much in-game: for example, the Ghosts and the Anomalies. Sure, they're in certain sequences...but largely non-existent throughout the rest of the game.

But...seriously, this game was gold, and worth every penny I spent on it. If Metro 2034 is going to be even better, then Duke Nukem Forever can kiss my ass for all I care, it'll be my vote for GOTY.

First of all, yay! A sequel to Metro 2033 is great news, I'd love for more Russian (actually Ukranian) games to be picked up in the western market.

Secondly, when will I get a translation of Metro 2034 the book, I loved the original by Ukranian (actually Russian) author Dmitry Glukhovsky, but I haven't been able to find an english translation of the sequel.

I think they left alot of things out (or rarely seen/used) just for the mystery, like the book did, though I must agree with everything you said, its properly the *thinks* second best game i have ever played.

Nope. No, no, and no. Not gonna happen. Every time something in production is proclaimed to compete with, overtake, kill, or reclaim its crown in a specific genre, it sets unique expectations and fails miserably. Medal of Honor tried that tactic, and look how that turned out.
