Yeah, "ficional character", that happens to religious people all the time ! :)
Bum-dum tish

Props to her for achieving her goals, I suppose. No full suit with helmet, though? What gives?
Making all that would probably be rather expensive.

OT: good for her. and it's good to see the image of Samus used for something like this.

That's really nice! As long as she never plays Other : M and realizes how shit it is and how it made Samus a fucking pansie!

I'm a guy, and that brings a tear to 'ma eye =D Her costume look's nice too!

I was gonna snark about Other M but I got ninjad about a dozen times. Instead I will critisize the implied criticism of Dan Hibiki as a role model.
To quote the 'dying' words of Eddy Murphy's Buddy, the slim doppelganger of the Nutty Professor;
"No matter what, you've got to strut!"

Good for her! :) She looks awesome, too, and it's good she's found a productive, healthy outlet for everything.

Okay, this is nitpicky, but why does the article title identify Perl as a "girl" when she's 25? Shouldn't it say "Metroid Motivates Woman to Cosplay After Mother's Death?"
True.

That's a particularly odd but also very heartwarming story. It's good to see that inspiration and motivation runs well in this world.

You don't know how happy I was to read that it wasn't Other M that got her into Samus/Metroid. That game definitely doesn't need any positive media or support from the female public.

Lol, stuff like that always bothers me too.

Her story is inspirational, but just make sure you don't choose to emulate a character like Dan [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dan_Hibiki]...
But-but... Why wouldn't I want to be like the Streetest Fighter!?

OT: Very touching story. Wonder if she played Other M yet and her thoughts. If she has and she still believes Samus is a strong, female character, it gives me hope.

So how does a fictional character motivate ? Unless its
I dont understand...
Samus lost her mother at a young age and had to be taken in by an ancient race and was trained to be a bounty hunter.

Also, I bet Fox News won't report about this at all. They'd rather believe that such a medium causes rape and only rape, not rehabilitation.

I think she looks really pretty. Would've never guessed she was overweight. Hey just because it's a fictional character doesn't mean it's silly or dumb, as long as it's a good fictional character instead of say....DARTH VADER
