Sad, really. It was one of the few games from e3 this year i was looking forward to. This exclusivity shit on both sides pisses be off. Still, not reason enough for me to buy an Xbone

To be honest, this actually makes me want to get an XBone.

And before you start getting the pitchforks - this is among the many exclusives that I care about. Halo 5, Forza Horizon 2, Forza 5, Halo Master Chief Collection, etc.

And since I also have a PS4 and a 3DS, so I'm not gonna miss on any exclusives on any platform (besides the Wii U, but that has nothing that interests me).

Even if it's just a timed exclusive, fuck Microsoft and Square Enix. Seriously.

I pre-ordered the goddamn Collector's Edition for PC last time around and consider this a nasty stab in my back.
Ditto. They can wave my money goodbye. Even when it eventually comes out for PC I wont buy it.

I really cant understand this is good business. Sure....you MIGHT earn money on it short term, but at some point Microsoft isnt paying you to make exclusives anymore....and you need the rest of your customers. What then? What when 2/3 are pissed off and hate you? HOW will you sell to them? What kind of excuse do you serve them? "Sorry guys, we really wanted some money from MS so we fucked you over. Forgive us?"

This kind of thinking is unbelievably short term and can ONLY gain them hatred among their consumers, and trouble in the long run.

First Insomniac, now the Tomb Raider series, what the frack next, Sly Cooper? Are we PS4 players going to get Gears of War and... and... hrrmm. *goes to Wikipedia* Banjo Kazooie or Conkers Bad Furday! Actually yeah, that'd be great, if Rare still had a soul...

Just a game I can cross off the list and wait to purchase till 2030, and finally a quote from Yahtzee; "Let's all laugh at an industry that never learns anything, te, he, he."

A lot of money was spend on this, Microsoft probably canceled an entire entertainment department doing this... oh wait they did? did they?

Its timed but its a clever move but won't really changed much its an average exclusive as its good and I really enjoyed the last one but you never see ques at the shop door for this.

Soooo the first game didn't sold enough on X1, the PS4 and PC crowds saved them and made this game possible. And to day they choose to make the sequel exclusive for the X1... Really ?

Ok, I hope for them that MS give them a really big amount of money but imo, it'll hurt them a loooot in a long term. Their rep is damaged and even if the game is a timed exclu, they'll have a lot to proove.

From what ive read on other sites, its not timed. It shocked me personally. Especially as the it sold loads on PS3/360 and they considered it a failure. Its even sold well on PS4/XB1. An there is no way they will be happy with the XB1 only sales of the new TR game. I know people will moan but its great business sense for MS - and those moaning should moan at SquareEnix for taking the money and making the deal.....they agreed and they could have said yes. Im also sure that PS4 owners would be applauding if Sony got the exclusivity for TR for the PS4. For me its like what happened with Bayonetta, a game that was successful as a multi platform title is now just on one console. Its an insult to fans. I find it insulting that PS3/PS4 gamers played the last game and cant follow on with Laras adventure into becoming the Lara of the original game. An this new game would have built on that.

A CEO somewhere - "Wow... we sold 7 million copies of the first Tomb Raider... that really sucks. How can we ensure the sequel is a bust?"

Unpaid Intern - Make it an XBox Exclusive?

From that day on, Gary was paid.

OT - This is a terrible idea. I don't see it being a big enough draw to move consoles. Smells like a publicity stunt.

If it isn't a timed exclusive, then I'm just never going to get this game, since buying an Xbone just isn't going to happen.

And if it is a times exclusive, I will expect to pay less than full price for it when it does get ported over.

Either way, they're getting less of my money. And I'm sure I'm not the only one.

An I have no problem with this. Admittedly I'm not a Tomb Raider fan, but I'm aware that the case of exclusives have been about for a long while and has happened for many varying reasons. Nintendo fans had to endure as many of the IPs they enjoyed went and became Sony exclusive, as Rare IPs became Microsoft owned, Sony fans witnessed Crash Bandicoot and Spyro lose exclusivity, and there was an awful lot of rage when Bayonetta 2 became a Nintendo exclusive.

At the end of the day, these things happen, they've always happened from the seems of things, and it's why the only true winner of any 'console war' is the person who possess each of the gaming systems that have the games they want to play. As someone who's grown up with three brothers, I've usually been lucky enough to count myself amongst such people.

I registered specifically so I could say this, and I hope no one finds it offensive because I'm going to say it anyway: God-fucking-dammit.

I'm not buying an Xbox. Not for this and not for any game. I'm never buying one. I only play games on my PC, which seemed a safe bet since Tomb Raider has such a long PC pedigree. I am a huge fan of the 2013 game and was highly anticipating this new one. Now this. I can't even express how disappointed I am, and how betrayed I feel as a fan of the franchise.

Even if they do port it to PC, my enthusiasm is going to be greatly diminished. This is the most disappointing gaming news I've personally heard in years. No, it won't be the end of the world if I never get to play it, or if I have to wait a year longer. I'll play other things instead. But Square-Enix just took a loyal fan and filled him with cold poison toward their company, and I can't see how that's anything resembling a good business decision. I've already written emails to both Crystal Dynamics and Square-Enix to tell them so.

This just ... seriously bums me out, you guys.

Given all the other third-party "exclusives" that have gone on to become multi-plat, I wonder if long-term exclusivity is dependent on sales figures?
yes it is

if it sells poorly like Ryse, port it to other platforms

if it sells good like Dead Rising 3... port it to other platforms

huh...
Of how about "If it stops meeting sales targets at certain pre-determined points of time, then start porting it to other platforms"?

Will wait to see it go to PC just like the other "exclusives" have. If it never does then by that time I'll have forgotten all about it.

Kind of weird though. I wouldn't consider this to be a system seller. I really enjoyed the last one but I wouldn't buy a machine for it.

A timed exclusive, surely. And I'm fine with it.
This is actually something I, as a PC gamer, have always liked in MS.

Most likely timed exclusive. Well its a property war right now. Seems both Sony and Microsoft are snagging up as many exclusive deals as they can.
It'd give people an incentive to buy either console...which is something I don't understand how so many people don't understand. It's dumb, but that's business for you. I remember having this issue back during the mid 2000's. Almost all the games I wanted to play were on PC, and being the fifteen year old I was, I wasn't exactly able to build my own one. Not to mention my parents still had a PC dating back to the mid 90's.

But back OT, I agree. Dead Rising 3 was supposed to be an exclusive for the XBone, but that's now coming to PC (I don't know why, since it wasn't a very good game that needed to be played on other platforms. It reeked of rushed). At the very least, this gives me another game to add to my list when I get a XBone. Got a bunch for the PS4 but there isn't much coming out this year that A: I'm not getting on PC, and B: that's coming out on PS4 that I'm interested in. Well...that I'm aware of. Kojima might release MGS5 at the last minute during November.
