not true GTA4 is better on the 360(i have both and have played the game on both)venom 3135 said:microsoft. I hate you! This game will pwn on ps3! Everything is better on ps3 : P
Oh, believe you me, I wish the fanboy wankery of 'My console is better than yours' was over yesterday. Every company that advances the medium in any fashion, draws in more people, and keeps us entertained gets a gold star in my book. I think one of the rare times I saw a distinct LACK of fanboyism (at first, at least) was when Bioshock was announced as coming over to the PS3. Fans of the game, for the most part, seemed to smile and say 'Glad you guys get to enjoy it as well. Hope you have fun!' That was nice. I miss that kind of civility, where folks can just be happy one another are gaming and having fun gaming.chemicalreaper said:Yeah, sorry if my reply to your first post seemed a little... off-the-handle. Re-reading your post, I realise you weren't really shitting on Microsoft.poiuppx said:*super-snip*
I guess I was just overreacting because I'm just so damn sick of fanboyism and all this "my console is better than yours" crap. Seriously, guys, this 360 vs. PS3 shit has been going on for four fucking years.
And every time a new thread like this pops up, suddenly we have another induced fit of fanboy rage. It really pisses me off; especially on days like today when a few threads surface where, almost like magic, all of the PS3 fanboys suddenly show up and start slamming Microsoft. (And let me cover my ass here by saying that I know that Xbox fanboys are no better and they're no slower at jumping in on any threads where they might have a chance of bashing the PS3.)
They "compete" against all other ways of playing games. Enough of this arbitrary demarcation between consoles and computers.Johnnyallstar said:Sure. Who do they have to compete against for gaming and OS? Sure apple has what... 8% market share? No real contest there.
OT: This actually makes me sad, not because I think it's not fair or anything, but the idea of exclusives going away. Software should define which console you buy, and exclusives are the way to do that. It's okay Bioware, I still love you.... as long as you don't screw up SW:TOR.
Wait, what? What were you expecting them to say instead? "Buy a PS3, we don't care?"VanityGirl said:Microsoft shouldn't talk smack though, they need support and trying to tell gamers their console is the best is probably not a good selling point.
Well, first off I wouldn't expect Mass Effect to compete with the 'pedigree' of those titles; all three IPs have been around for over a decade, whereas the ME mythos is just getting started.Mornelithe said:How about something original like, look at all these other games we're working on, that are coming down the pipeline? Trying to screw Bioware out of much earned cash, because they're having a tantrum over lost 3rd party games seems a bit childish. Not like Mass Effect even comes remotely close to the pedigree and prominence of Tekken, GTA and Final Fantasy.
No, but instead of attacking the other company, which is getting old, I'd rather them just say how great Mass Effect will be.Optimystic said:Wait, what? What were you expecting them to say instead? But... that's exactly what they did. The press release basically said "Sure, you can get ME2 on PS3, but ME2 on Xbox will always be better, because we have ME1." Which is a very valid point. How was that an attack on Sony?VanityGirl said:No, but instead of attacking the other company, which is getting old, I'd rather them just say how great Mass Effect will be.
Possibly... And I don't generally hate on Microsoft, I like my 360.Optimystic said:But... that's exactly what they did. I think hating on Microsoft is as cool as the next gamer, but give the devil his due.
I guess what I'm not understanding is what you guys mean by "focusing on the 360." Microsoft could have (and probably should have) ignored one of its exclusives jumping ship. But having decided to comment, I can't think what else they could really say besides "you're better off playing it on 360." I mean, they could have just released a press release saying "hey, we've still got all these great exclusives!" [points to dwindling exclusive library], but the fact is that this news will only matter to people who are interested in Mass Effect. Those are the people Microsoft would need to speak to. Talking about all the other great games the Xbox has left might make a difference to a Mass Effect fan, but it could just as easily be so much noise and static.Mornelithe said:Honestly, I kind of disagree there, I think MS PR department has actually fallen asleep at the helm of late. Christ, they glazed over RRoD for cryin out loud. Not only that, but they've got great advertising too (Halo series especially). But, of late, they simply seem to be whining and complaining, rather than simply focusing on their product and it's future.
Even more unfortunate for MS, is that we all very well know that Sony doesn't let companies bring the same game to their console, after it's already been out on another system for months/year. Sony _will_ require Bioware to add more to ME2, than just what MS got. So, unfortunately for MS, the experience on the PS3 may end up being better.
ok i have to point this out, when ever sony makes them add things to a game it tend to make it accualy worse then the origenal(see ninja gaiden and resident evil 4) were just updateing the graphics would have done just fine. Now i love my PS3, i mean my favoret game is a PS3 exclusive but porting games just doesnt work well with the PS3 because they make them add things it just make the developer look like a sell out witch i think we can all agree bioware isnt. So yeah if Soney fucks up the game i will blast them not bioware.Mornelithe said:Honestly, I kind of disagree there, I think MS PR department has actually fallen asleep at the helm of late. Secondly, I agree that Microsoft could have handled this differently, but saying Microsoft has a bad PR department is like saying Blizzard develops games slowly; in other words, it goes without saying. But while the "how" of their message was flawed, the message itself was still important - they successfully differentiated the 360 version of ME from the PS3 version, and pointed out a very good reason to stick with their console. In that respect, the author of that statement did his job - his job being to promote his product, and not that of his competitor.
