I think I won't get it. Sci-fi games don't really hold me much, but if I have spare time and money I suppose I might.
It's possible that the one doing the foot-shooting was Bioware. I'm sure Microsoft wasn't thrilled when Bioware privately discussed their plans to roll out ME2 on the PS3, and Bioware went ahead and did it anyway. Note that I am not sorry they did this; I can merely understand why Microsoft would be less than charitable after a slap in the face like that.Mornelithe said:The point is, why comment at all? I'm pretty sure they have a ton more to be talking about (that's far more productive than trying to shoot a developer who's been very good to them in the foot), than ME2 on the PS3. For instance, why core 360 owners should be interested in Kinect, something they are sorely short of, in the PR department. They have several in-house devs who're working stuff, so they could be discussing that.
Well, in the case of Mass Effect they really didn't have a choice in the matter, since MS took a chance and published the first game. It wasn't until it got popular that EA took notice - where were they when all Bioware had were several volumes of codex, a design document and a dream?Mornelithe said:I wouldn't necessarily say the PS3 itself, is 'better', but they typically require developers to add something to their games before allowing them to bring a timed exclusive Microsoft game to their platform, it's been done with every game I can think of. Several JRPG's, Ninja Gaiden, of course, ME2 most likely, and so on, the point _isn't_ that it makes the game better. The point is, it MAKES the developer do extra work on a title already gone gold. That's a pain in the ass. And what IF it makes the game worse? That's that much more money they lose. All because they took some cash from MS up front, rather than going multi-plat from the getgo. See what I mean?
yeah but if they make them add too much to it itll just get realy clutterd and bioware cant make any exclusive weapons or missions (dlc included) to the PS3 cause theyll be strung up in the street by their fans.Mornelithe said:EDIT: Thought I was in a different thread lol. I'm not sure, I don't think Bioware wants to mess this up, after all, they'd probably starting losing money, if any of the work they've done on the PS3 version doesn't pan out as a success. I'm hoping Sony realizes Bioware knows what they're doing and will do the game justice to the hardware.ecoho said:im just worried that soney will fuck the game up then ill have to defend the game from PS3 fan boys because they think its horrible
Nicely done.Kwil said:In related news, Pope says people should stay Catholic.
You are an idiot, though.TimeLord said:It was my opinion, not fact! I don't know the in's and outs of both consoles but from the reviews I have read there is no difference what so ever between both consoles!imsoveryl337 said:ok you have no idea what you're talking about.TimeLord said:Why would porting a game like Mass Effect be worse on a console with more blu-ray disc space? Surely they can cram better graphics, more extras etc onto a blu-ray!
I will still get this despite not playing ME1, if it mattered THAT much about carrying a save over then they would have made a ME1 for the PS3!
i dont care PS3 uses blu-ray, the game graphics are worse than xbox360's. Seriously, read reviews of games, the PS3 version always get lower due to graphics and graphical glitches and frame rate issues.
Why wouldn't they? This is Sony's chance to prove to other xbox exclusives that going to the PS3 is good for the games!chemicalreaper said:Yeah, they're gonna reconfigure and rework the game for P$3 so that they can have marginally better graphics and more content. /sarcasmTimeLord said:Why would porting a game like Mass Effect be worse on a console with more blu-ray disc space? It's gonna be the same game, with the same content, with the same story, with the same graphics. You're an idiot if you think they'll do anything otherwise.
I never said the game would be massivly different! So don't call me an idiot for my personal opinion!
Please dont get the wrong idea if they give ps3 owners the SAME things as the 360 just in a different way i wont mind so much but if they give say a speical chactor, rifle, or mission just for PS3 owners ill feel a bit cheated.Mornelithe said:It all depends on how they add it really, as I said, Bioware knows what they're doing and given they have to kind of ease PS3 users (some of which are likely new entree's to the franchise) into the storyline, there's going to have to be some extra stuff, just on the front-end to get people acquainted with the game mechanic.ecoho said:Mornelithe said:EDIT: Thought I was in a different thread lol. As for what they can and cannot add, I can only say that there are 38+ million potential buyers of ME2 on the PS3, I believe they'll add as much exclusive content as they possibly can (without getting their entire team working on an already gold game), in order to entice people to buy it. And I really doubt that the rest of the fans of the franchise will get much thought by them, simply because those fans have already experienced 2 IP's in the franchise, and the PS3's been out in the cold. If Bioware's smart, they'll go into this with hands spread, with an olive branch in one of them.
I'm not discounting the Kinect either - merely pointing out that spending even more time on PR for it won't help without games to back up the talk.Mornelithe said:Oh I don't know about that, I think it's very possible and even moreso, likely that we'll each of us eventually see something on Kinect that's worth the price tag. Granted, that time hasn't come and doesn't appear to yet be on the horizon, but I'm not discounting the tech and possibilities that quickly.
None of those count as much as you think. KOTOR did well - but it has the juggernaut of the Star Wars IP behind it. NWN and Baldur's Gate also did well, but they have the juggernaut of the D&D IP behind them. Mass Effect was something entirely new, and new projects are a risk. Without Microsoft, we might never have had this rich and enticing world exposed to us.Mornelithe said:Of course Bioware had the choice, c'mon, they're not some tiny two-bit studio pre-ME. Let's give them some credit for Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights, although, I'm not too familiar with MDK2 and KoTR, they also have those as well. Bioware's been a fairly popular PC studio for some time, and definitely made some decent money there. They really had no need for Microsoft's handouts, it was simply buying into the idea that the PS3 would fail and never become lucrative for 3rd parties.
I think he's forgetting that if you buy Mass Effect 2 on the PC, you can get all of this downloadable content free of charge because of the cerberus network. If you don't have a decent enough PC, then the DLC will come out on the PS3 soon enough, he's just being petty in this silly console war...Tom Goldman said:Microsoft told IGN: "With both Mass Effect titles launching first on Xbox 360 combined with the wealth of available paid downloadable content on Xbox Live today, Xbox 360 remains the best place to experience the Mass Effect franchise. And the original Mass Effect is absolutely an Xbox 360 exclusive, making Xbox 360 the only place to get the full Mass Effect experience."
No, it makes it my personal opinion.imsoveryl337 said:You are an idiot, though.
If you're personal opinion is stupid, doesn't that make you an idiot? If not, what would you define an idiot as?
Ok you may not like mass effect 2 but please understand why it would be different if they made more contant for the ps3 with mass effect 2. unlike the two games you used Mass Effect 2 has the cerberus network witch gives us all the same content. In other words bioware would in esance screw their loyal fan base they wont do this now they may make a few of the DLC packs free for them and while those of us who paid for them may be a little angrey it would be the best way for them to port it i mean if it aint broke why fix it?s69-5 said:Happens all the time.ecoho said:Please dont get the wrong idea if they give ps3 owners the SAME things as the 360 just in a different way i wont mind so much but if they give say a speical chactor, rifle, or mission just for PS3 owners ill feel a bit cheated.
Look at Star Ocean 4: International for PS3 Vs SO4 for the 360. (Extra characters on PS3)
Tales of Vesperia on PS3 (Jpn) Vs Tales of Vesperia on the 360. (Extra characters on PS3)
You have to give people something if they are to wait an extra year, to make it worth their while. Even more so in this case, since they can't offer half of the experience (ME1).
Either way, I personally don't care about ME2. Bioware's only other PS3 offering (DA:O) left me with a bitter taste in my mouth. I could not have been more underwhelmed by that generic, buggy, unpolished, over-hyped, LOTR rip-off, they call a game... Forced my way through it once, tried to play it a second time to see if I overlooked the gold everyone keeps harping about; didn't find it; got really bored; lost interest; sold it and bought Trinity Universe.
I've seen a fiend play ME2 and I'm not interested in shooters. Unless you add VATS... ooh, I can't wait for Fallout: New Vegas.
You can get it for the PC from numerous digital distributors. I got ME1 on STEAM and ME2 from GamersGate. ME2 even runs better than ME1 on the PC! And if you still want it for the 360 then you can probably find copies of it on Amazon or another online retailer.ShadowKatt said:It hardly matters to me. I SO want to play Mass Effect, but I came late to the party. You can't find a copy of Mass Effect on any store shelves, they haven't(And I don't expect them to ever) release a dual pack with ME1 and 2, so this has absolutely no incentive for me. They are right, it is a bit silly to port the game to the PS3 while ME1 remains xbox only.
