Not really. You're kind of behind on the times with that one, they tried to hype that leading up to the release. It's gone down in history as one of the most laughably excessive wastes of money ever put into a game.

David Boreanz (aka Angel) did Leon in Kingdom Hearts.

When I saw that, all I could think was "lolwut".

That one, though, that one's kind of blowing my mind.

Pretty much any role with Laura Bailey, the girl who does Rise in Persona 4, also does Kaine' in Nier.
For comparison, Rise is a happy little teenage superstar. And Kaine'... well, she threatens a giant monster that she's going to stick her hand into its chest and pull out its fucking heart.

What, the chuckleheaded comic relief that they tried to pass off as a villain? Wasn't impressed, and I knew it was Andy Serkis to begin with.

Yeah, he had depth, and wasn't one-sided as they usually are, the range of emotions and the level of megalomania and the spark of insanity he had surpasses most other villians.

You might not find it appealing, but many others do.

I remember being stunned that all the voices in the English version of Gothic 2 were done by the same 3 people. That's more than 100 NPCs (more NPCs than in Fallout 3, for which 37 actors were used, including Liam Neeson and Ron Perlman). And assuming that it was one woman who did all/most of the female voices, all the male characters were done by just two guys. Since then nothing has been able to amaze me about voice acting.

He's been dominant in the business longer than your Tara Strongs and Jimmy Yang Boschs have been alive. And he's STILL working his ass off. I mean, hell, Fred? He's the first, and CURRENT voice of Fred in Scooby Doo. That's WAY more important and influential than your John DiMaggios or your Keri Wahlgrens or your Cree Summers or your Venus Terzos or your John Kayes or your Scott McNeils or any other name you can mention that's only been doing notable roles for a decade.

Bring up some Cam Clarke (aka James Flinders) or some Rebecca Forstadts (tho her voice makes me cringe with Lynn Minmei-ism) or some Michael McConnohies or some Amanda Winn-Lee or some Wendee Lee, or some Susan Blu...


Most of the names you guys mentioned are young turks, hardly classics.

Impressive, but his miscellaneous character list doesn't thrill or "Blow my mind". Tara on the other hand has probably touched every corner of most people's childhoods. Carebears? I mean that's a cherished memory as far back as I can literately remember! She IS the embodiment of my childhood memories.

Frank Welker has touched your childhood, my childhood, and my parent's childhood.

I mean, come on. The Smurphs.

Steve Blum has to be my most favorite voice actor since he's been in an amazing range of games =D.

OT After playing a bit of rage i found out that John Goodman plays Dan Hagar my mind was totally blown.

Oh and Steve voice acted a lot in Doom 3 and now appears in Rage as Captain Marshall, Phallina Hagar talk about awesome.

This thread also had me thinking about the voice actor revelations that don't blow my mind. There are some voices I instantly recognize, no matter what character they're playing or what medium. Coincidentally, all of them have a kickass voice.

I thought that was the case for me too, but apparently I was mistaken.
I knew Hale was in MGS as Naomi Hunter, but I had no idea she voiced Emma Emmerich too.
Chances are I actually read it when playing the game, since they write the character name on screen with the voice actor name in parentheses right next to it, but my mind was still blown.

They're all voiced by Jim Cummings. Seriously this guy has an amazing range of voices!

He did Scar's singing voice in Lion King too. The guy is absolutely incredible, able to seamlessly replace Jeremy Irons mid-song without anybody noticing unless they happen to look it up.

Was watching someone play Uncharted 2 and I knew Steve Valentine voiced someone but then Claudia Black turned up too ... my favourite game is Dragon Age: Origins so that sort of blew my mind. They sound exactly as they do in DA:O - close your eyes and you can creep yourself out by thinking Alistair and Morrigan are flirting.

Yuri Lowenthal? To my slight surprise, he also voiced Yosuke from Persona 4. It's a small world (for voice actors).

Anyway, recently I was kinda taken aback when I saw Mary Elizabeth McGlynn credited as a voice director in Castlevania: Lament of Innocence. I know her better as a singer and a voice actor, but apparently she does everything else as well.

Billy West is better than DiMaggio and DiMaggio knows it (and he often jokes about it - signing his autograph so big so West can't fit his on). DiMaggo is great, but he will always be Dr. Draken to me. DiMaggio is also the Han Solo type character in the new Star Wars game coming out from the Mass Effect people (totally blanking right now).

Also Jen Taylor = Cortana = Zoey. I could listen to that nasally voice all day long.

EDIT: Alyson Stoner was the voice for Kairi in Kingdom Hearts and is the voice of Isabella in Phineas & Ferb.

I thought Kairi was played by Hayden Panettiere of Heroes? That was a pretty big revelation when I found that one out...
