This is why Mojang deserves the MM win.
For doing what a dev should do in the first place?

Damn, I am crying inside. You don't need to be exceptional to win anymore, you just have to reach the bar.
Because most developers take a really long time to get a patch out. I only heard about the problems with 1.6 yesterday, and it's already fixed. Basically no other dev except Valve actually cares enough to do that.

And you may be a bit right about the reaching the bar thing, but right now the bar is pretty low.
It's pretty easy to fix a 60 mb lego simulator compared to a game like say, new vegas. The variables are insane.

I don't really see why patch notes are news-worthy. I ain't complaining though, they post what they want.

Don't people play test patches before releasing them anymore? This kind of reminds me of the 360 update that only served to brick the system.

Well 1 day is a lot shorter than 6 months Fallout: New Vegas!
Indeed. All the more amazing when you consider the amount of resources available to Notch in comparison to Obsidian.

Yeah, I wouldn't really call it fixed yet. Though when I checked Notch's Twitter feed to see the current status, I couldn't help but notice this gem:

P.S. Thanks

just think how good the full game will be, when all the bugs are fixed.

FOR FUCK'S SAKE, how long will it take this idiot to start a rolling beta!!!

Invite 1,000 or so people to participate in early versions of the next update, and release only to them. When (not if) they encounter bugs, patch those, and then release the version that works for all 1,000 to the public.

Notch is absolutely horrible at releasing working patches. I'd say Valve is equally bad, but we've at least heard they TRY with internal and somewhat-external playtesting.

I won't even bother.

OT: I actually just played it, looks like it is all fixed. Hopefully there aren't many other bugs.

...The game is in beta. Everyone who has it is basically a playtester.

Well at least he isn't one of the "minecraft copy!" bandwagon people, maybe he can take some tips from terraria!

OT: Gotta hand it to Notch, when he messes up he fixes it ASAP

Is this the thing that took down my Minecraft game last night? Looks like it. I'll try booting up Minecraft right now. Check in when I know.

Update: Fuuuuuuck... still not working.

He actually promoted Terraria on his Twitter. Even read somewhere that the game can thank it's success in some part to Notch's twitter. Don't ask me to confirm though, it could all be in my head.
He even said that as long as you weren't actually using his code, any Minecraft-clones could just go ahead, he wouldn't sue, or even be mildly annoyed

This is what I love about indie games. If they have bugs, they are patched!

(However, a very nasty bug occurs when you die now, all tools that you pick up later when you respawn will be gone if you hit anything, if if they have full durability. Notch, please fix that one! It's a vital flaw. Anyways, don't die with all your diamond tools and trinkets!)

He's on it. It seems he wasn't aware of this particular bug until quite late, but he tweeted he would be working this weekend to fix it. Hopefully it'll get patched early tomorrow

Great! Thanks for the heads-up, already lost a diamond pick. <.<
Good thing I keep extra resources!

Loved the ending. You gotta love indie devs.
Problems will come, but will be solved quickly. Also, with humour. And that's the best you could ask for.

All I really noticed is that the huge list of "bugs" he fixed destroyed water ladders, boat elevators, and minecart boosters. Then a huge bug was added: when you pick stuff up you dropped it instantly disappears. Thanks to that I lost a diamond pick axe...

My server is also pretty much unplayable by other users even with the .4 patch, users lag badly, chunks of the world don't spawn in and objects like doors and triggers won't work half the time. Hopefully he is going back to the drawing board.

It's still a huge mess, at least for me. maybe those with extra powerful servers are not experiencing it as much.

Terraria is quite different then Minecraft and not just because its 2D so it isnt just another clone and yes, Notch should defenitly learn something from it with what to do with the survival mode.

By the time I down loaded 1.6 it was the 1.6.4 so I didn't notice anything except the nice shiny new stuff. Oh except one thing... any one else having problems with boats that sink?

Actually I noticed this. I lost an axe and a spade and couldn't understand what had happened...
