The ability to move a respawn point is great, I wonder if compasses will point to your current respawn, that could make mining towards something much easier - just put a bed where you're going!
Why isn't this being added in right when beds are released? This is not hard to do. Modders have already created blocks that reset your spawn location, and the amount of code needed to make such a block is incredibly short and easy to implement. I can't figure out why beds need two updates to work properly other than the developers being incredibly lazy.Tom Goldman said:The second phase might clue us in on the sorts of single-player changes Mojang Specifications has in mind for the future of Minecraft. RPS says that an update will hit sometime in March which will turn beds into a respawn point. When players die, they'll appear in the last bed they slept in.

They'll probably make the materials to make the bed either vast in quantity of ridiculous in rarity.danpascooch said:I don't like it. Bed's to restore your health are a good idea, but what's to stop players from sleeping every single night, thus rendering the entire inclusion of night meaningless?
simples: whilst you're at home, or building inside a major project, night becomes no bother; it's when you're out and about, exploring or whatever, that night makes an actual gameplay impact. I think it's a good gameplay addition, preventing people from just tabbing out when night falls.danpascooch said:I don't like it. Or you wake up to that lovely hissing. Tell me, would you want to go to sleep if you've ever heard that? Didn't think so. Or maybe you can only sleep for half of the night to balance it out.danpascooch said:I don't like it.
