Minecraft-like game, except 2d!

Arg, frankly I think ya'll aren't interested in this game because you're ravenous minecraft fans. I play minecraft, I enjoy minecraft. This game is not Minecraft. Minecraft has built it's reputation as being a vertual lego-land with exploding rotting penises that destroy your stuff. This game is like an old 2d dungeon hack where you can build your own little shelter for processing the riches you retrieve into items to combat an ever increasing inflow of monsters and villians trying to kill you.

Get off your high horses in attempt to defend your beloved minecraft and enjoy this game as it's own title, cuz seriously, what game doesn't rip off others these days?

We shalt do no such thing, the fans are already clobbering down the gates, its only a matter of seconds before we're through them...

But yeah... We dont have a problem with the games (most of us) just OP. What's the discussion in this thread really?

Man I'm sick of Minecraft like and Minecraft clone. I'm coining a new phrase, Modular construction sandbox games!

I looks interesting. More combat and whatnot but yeah quiet similar to Minecraft. Still, I'm not interest in Minecraft or this game that much so I don't have much of an opinion.

There are many reasons that a 2D Minecraft might be preferable to a 3D one, and vice versa. Personally I'd love a 2D Minecraft.

Edit: Just watched the video and it looks nothing like Minecraft :/ Why people are calling this a rip-off is beyond me. It does take a few mechanics from Minecraft but atleast it innovates upon them rather than just being a carbon copy like the 10+ other Minecraft rip-offs.

actually it demends on the mechanics/variables take for example the sonic francise the 2d stable is filled with amazing games the children and adults have played for hours and with a couple exception the 3d games are all crap same with the castlevania series except without the exceptions or hell look at minecraft itself it uses crappy graphics and made a game so good that it outshines the building mechanics and the enjoyment involved of any other game with a similar mechanic (garry's mod,level editors ect) i've played 3d games that are essentialy 2d as they are linear and 2d games that have taken me to far away places i've never imagined but on the topic of 3d minecraft vs 2s minecraft 3d wins because it allows more detail in the buildings that are created. btw i'm also giving you a #1 fan award for defending minecraft like 6 times

man I'd pay more than that for a good game like this, $30 even. Especially if they decide to keep doing updates and stuff.

I myself perfer 2D games, course I grew up in that generation. A 3D plateformer just doesn't feel right, and they basically have to guided the whole way.

oh a steep ass learning curve doesn't bother me, but looking at the map and having no idea what anything means and having like 20 things stacked on top of each other in one tile hurts my brain. if I could figure out the interface I wouldn't mind getting fucked over several times. especially since you can just send another party to your old fortress.

Oh for sure. It's just the amount of information you need to know in combination with a completely unintelligible interface that makes it a daunting task. I mean, there's almost 20 symbols you need to memorize... That's like learning a new alphabet. It was way too much for me.

Why are people all immediately dismissing this? It's not even out yet. Maybe it's because I personally love myself some 2D platforming, but it COULD be fun. Meh, we'll see how this thing does later.
