I thought about the old accusations of repetition of lyrics and styles while listening to this and I finally have a view on them (though to be honest it never registered with me).

I'm slightly plagiarizing the words of Iron Maidens guitarist here but here's my view: All of your songs are wonderfully diverse and each is unique in its own way but they all have a "thread" running through them, and that thread is Miracle of Sound.

As I was listening to this I heard flashes of Redemption Blues in the more moody vocals, New Black Gold in the orchestral opening, Normandy in the chorus and many others. This is by no means a bad thing, in fact it's fantastic since it shows us that you aren't just someone who can write game songs in different genres but something much, much more since you can take as many genres and styles as you like and make them yours. That is a skill indeed.

Anyway just my two cents. Fantastic job as usual Gav. Keep up the great work!

Mos you have the can always tell your a gamer with the way you take the soul of a game then make it into music.Everytime you say your going to make a great song for your favourite games etc Fallout 3 and Skyrim you have blown me away.

I am glad we love the same games but the songs you make for them are just incredible.

I gotta be honest, I do not care for most of the previous 'Miracle of Sound' songs, I actually think they're pretty terrible. But I REALLY DIG THIS, (and get this, I haven't even played Skyrim).

Props to you mr. M.O.S.

Very well written as always - the lyrics capture the theme of the songs sung by the bards throughout skyrim quite well. I really like it.
Something I dislike where the strings in this - It might be because I've listend to a lot of cello lately, but the synth strings during the interlude at 02:00 should have been more promintent and needed more depth to them for my taste. It sounds a bit...shallow. Guitar and drums ~crisp and perfect as always.

I imagine this song played on cello, harp and piano for some reason... the strong melodic voice of a deep cello would fit perfectly with the crystaline tune of the harp during the first half of the song and could provide a hearty backdrop for the more energetic second half.

I'm sure I remember you saying that a song for Skyrim wouldn't be done until about January, not that I'm complaining, the earlier the better :D

That was amazing, Gavin. Another epic song under your belt.

See, this is the prime reason I think the new site layout is a huge misstep: This has been up for an hour, (that's a whole hour and yet only an hour, but it's neither sitting pretty on the front page nor attracting any comments) and it's a main site feature... and yet I had to go SEARCHING the site to find it. There's something wrong with that. An update for a prime feature doesn't belong buried in a dropdown menu.

And I only knew to look for it because the facebook app notified me.
Actually, it went up late today due to some technical difficulties. So it wasn't that you couldn't find it - it was that it wasn't there (for which we apologize, naturally).

This is my favorite Miracle of Sound song to date. I pretty much just put it on repeat and listen to it all day.
Hi again Susan.

I agree about the song. It reminds me of Enter the Haggis, actually.

About the site issues: if that's so, then never mind, I was wrong. But while I have your ear, so to speak, why is the new design so white and sparse? I feel like I'm reading writing on the wall of Purgatory, and I still feel like I have to pull teeth to get the site to give me what I used to take for granted. It was easier for something to catch my eye when the content was all up in my face and I wasn't squinting.

I don't mean to seem ungrateful for the product of hard work, but the site seems.... Wii-i-fied.

1: Turn off sound while playing Skyrm
2: Find a dragon
3: Play this music while fighting said dragon

Result: Best experience ever.

Wow, that was awesome.

I have a sudden urge to be quaffing mead, swiving wenches and wielding a mighty sword!

Awesome!

Wow... I don't know what else I can add that hasn't already been said, but this was truly an epic for the ages. When it started off more quietly reflective and instrumental, I was ready for a whole song of that style, and I was perfectly okay with that. But the shifts in the middle and end, coupled with the added effects made by that fancy new tech of yours, wove this song into a story- a story of a hardy Northern land and the blood, sweat, and tears of the men and women who fight every day for their homes and freedom. Simply masterful. I would adore hearing this with some more strings, perhaps even an orchestral arrangement...

This, New Black Gold, and Normandy are all duking it out for my favorite song of yours. May the best song win!

This is simply amazing, and now one of my all time favorite game related songs ever right now. I keep hitting replay, and it isn't on accident.
