I'm starting to notice EA sucks in cycles. One cycle, they're freaking awesome! The next? They're awful. The next cycle? Wow, such great games and fan-love! The next? Ugh, they ruined it.

... Too early to say, but EA looks like it's doing its best to NOT suck in the coming few years. Mirror's Edge 2 is DEFINITELY enough for me to say that's an instant-buy.

I'm happy that fans of this game got a sequel. It seems like series we wish would just die keep getting sequels while the ones we want end up going to the IP trash bin. However, I still wish we got a 3rd person perspective option for the game: Platforming is a bit tricky when in first person mode.

Now thats an attractive video game woman. Why can't we have more like her?

I pray that this sees a multiplatform release. I'm dying for new Mirror's Edge and I'd rather not have to miss out because its on that shit Xbox One only.

If it comes out on the PS4 or PC (if the PS4 is also terrible) then my money can't leave my wallet quick enough.

It was already optional. I'm down to a 4-KO run with no deaths.

It's just that no one understood that being within ten feet of a baddie didn't mean you had to punch them...
Sure which is why there is an unavoidable boss fight and several points you can't access or climb without dying. Yeah no, you don't get to bullshit me without a link of a playthrough with you literally not punching anyone.
I don't count the boss fight, because that didn't result in a KO. Or the final "boss", because it's a cutscene.

Beyond that, it's possible (but REALLY BLOODY HARD) to get through the boat level with two punch-outs (in the second room with three guards) and the Shard with two (one in the atrium - run on the right past the advancing police, Mario-Jump the machine gunner, hit the elevator button, and get out of the way) and the machine-gunner in the server room (I'll admit that the snipers are a ***** and a half to get by without fighting, though).

And beyond those, I have gotten by every other scene without fighting. Often, it's a combo of speed and luck, but it CAN be done fairly consistently. You just haven't really tried. I know you haven't, because you would have found a way.

Also, I happen to have the first two levels of a pacifist run sitting right here, unfinished because real life hates my free time (and because level two is really hard to film in one go). If I find a decent compression codec and some spare time, I'll give you a delicious slice of humble pie.

Which is still not a complete violence avoidance play-through. You still need to KO at least 2 guys and it is QUITE an arbitrary definition when you count KO's, the first boss dude is dead, not your fault but still he DEAD!

Oh I have tried and I made it some times. Other times there was just no other way without absolutely ruining the fun. You see replaying the same level enough times for luck to be kind is not really why I play these kind of games. I play it to see how good I can be at it, in other words as a challenge run. Especially not when time is precious and I haven even less of it than the word precious would indicate.

Luck should not be a factor unless the entire game is designed around chance. It should always be a matter of skill in these kind of games. How quick you can climb, how accurate you can jump to minimize down time, if you can make that impossible jump, if you temporarily stun all guards before quickly climbing up.

It should not be based on how many bullets an algorithm decides to designate as having missed your body :D

Well, I DID say a 4 KO run, which you called BS on. I rebutted. I never claimed perfect pacifism. It's my one beef with the game. I don't count cutscene deaths simply because that rises to "dozens" at the end of level eight... and that's stupid.

Also, restart the level? Why? There are checkpoints...

Also, it's not THAT luck-based. More like "if I have bad luck, I'll get hit, and if I have REALLY bad luck, I'll get killed". The police are pretty bad shots. Besides, with skill, you can minimize these chances.

If I were you I'd be less worried about Origin and more worried about it being an Xbone exclusive. Origin is nothing in comparison to the Xbone, and while it may not be as easy to use a Steam it's not exactly bad, or even mediocre.

OT: EA, you haven't let me down yet, please, PLEASE don't make this a Xbone exclusive.

I really like the first one despite it flaws so lets hope they don't miss the point and make it about combat. You can have some combat, I actually like the disarms in the first but it shouldn't be the focus and should be optional most if not all the time.

Perhaps somebody needs to start a campaign to bombard EA with letters saying "Less Combat, more Parkour", and "Don't forget the Multi-Player".

If they are just now starting development, and it will be read when it is ready, then they need to know when we will consider it ready.

I firmly believe MP would greatly enhance this game, I just hope they do it right.
Why hasn't EA hired you yet?

I am cautiously looking forward to this. I hope so much that it does not require Origin because that will turn a definite purchase into a no sale.

I must be going crazy... I thought Mirror's Edge 2 already CAME OUT. Like. I thought I'd googled it in the past and decided that the screenshots did indeed depict a marginal graphical improvement over Mirror's Edge 1. Like, the buildings were shinier. Weird...

Do want.

I really hope they give the setting more life to it than the original Mirror's Edge. The city was completely empty, silent, and way too clean.

Awesome; despite the slightly dodgy story and the shitty gunplay sections I really enjoyed how the freerunning felt in Mirror's Edge. Will definitely be looking to see where this goes. ;D

So psyched for this game. Here is to hoping that it isn't an Xbox One exclusive! EA you are DANGEROUSLY close to me actually liking you so don't eff this up!
Colour me convinced that this is going to be an Xbone exclusive, until fan demand manages to metaphorically twist EA's arm into releasing a halfway-decent PC port.

Well since this is the initial trailer, we were bound to get a presentation that was more... shall we say "crowd friendly?" And I actually liked the combat in general. It was the gunplay that sucked in Mirror's Edge, which you will notice there was none of. That alone tells me that they actually have listened to criticism, if only enough not to make a trailer that makes all the old fans groan in disappointment at first glance.
I played it on PC with mouse and keyboard, so I didn't really have an issue with the gunplay. My main problem with the combat was that the game trained you to run away when people are shooting at you, then it threw you in those situations about once an hour when that wasn't an option, and you did actually have to rush the bad guys.
Actually I tested that and you can finnish the entire mirrors edge game by only engaging one group of guys in the game (it's where you have to open one of those turn doors). you can run past and not engage the rest on even the hardest difficulty (without using the glitch jump), doors you have to open you just dart past click the button and run to safety while you wait for the elevator to open. I have done it, although I have also finished the game like 5x (3x on xbox 2x on pc, it doesn't take long).

Personally I am pretty hyped for this, I am however also very concerned, hopefully EA learned there lesson whith dead space 3 that "broadening your audience" and micro transactions don't work. I am also hopping for no drm on the pc version and a steam (or even better a gog) release. (although I find it highly unlikely there will be a steam or gog release). and I hope they focus on a well rounded single player and not some half arced multiplayer (admittedly a race or capture the flag mode...might work)
