She isn't even that hot anyway.
I think I can see the staples holding her smile open.

Great article by the way. Many lolz.

Gosh darn, she's not even that good looking. I hate it when people try to sell off their point over their ''Good looks.''

Indeed. The world is a far more hostile place than those halcyon days when our parents made us go out and play street hockey or throw snowballs at each other in the winter. Honestly, there are far more things she could and should have discussed like the current war in Iraq and Afghanistan, the rising costs of fuel in America and elsewhere in the world, overpopulation.

As for the video games thing, I wholeheartedly believe that everything should be done in moderation. Instead of playing Halo 3 or Modern Warfare 2 for endless hours, read a book with more than 300 hundred pages, take up a musical instrument like a guitar, or get a membership to a gym (if you are old enough), or take up any of the various martial arts. Telling our kids to get out in the streets and play is foolish, since in most neighborhoods there isn't a whole lot to do outside. That's pretty much telling them to foster their needs for destruction (as someone else so brilliantly stated earlier).

I would like to know where this girl (or her speech coach) gets her facts from. Video games are not one of the main causes for societal woes; SOCIETY is to blame for that. We objectify women in depraved contests to see which has the nicest ass or breasts, the cutest smile, and who can sound the most intelligent out of a group whose mean IQ may or may not be a 4. Not just the contest, but by continuing such things as Hollywood and these pageants, we are fostering incredible weakness in a generation of kids who'll grow up to be useless. Our young girls already teeter on the edge of suicide because of the figures portrayed on T.V are unattainable for most of them, we have guys who treat girls like cum dumpsters, and public figures who act more childish than most children I knew in my younger days.

k so id hate to play the devils advocate here but...

one person says one thing about people not playing video games and that they should GO OUTSIDE FOR ONCE, and everyone here starts saying shes "bashing" and needs to shut up and keep her uninformed opinion to herself?

sorry but, what part about "turning off the tv and going outside to play" is uninformed? that sounds like a DAMN good idea to me, especially for kids these days. now, im not sure if i have the full story here, but from what was posted and from what i read in front of me, this woman didnt say she "hated" videogames, all she said was that "parents need to stop letting their kids play games and have their kids play outside." so what the hell is the big problem people?

"You can be and become anything that you want to be, even Miss America," she gushed unironically...
Wait to go "set standards" there, bimbo.

i must agree with her to be honest, when i was a kid we couldnt even afford a tv so i spent most my time running round fighting imaginary wars, i had a great time =)

but she overexaggerates, yes video games are played by lazy kids, but IMO the kids who game all day would be lazy anyway, theyd just do different things..

Since when was the winner of a beauty pagent qualified to comment on parenting?

It just shows that trash-talking video games is what's 'in' at the moment...

You know, I have met a few four-year-old girls that I would rather have a conversation with. Much more interesting and slightly more literate, not to mention more useful (Halloween Candy-Beard, anyone?).

I have no problem with sending kids outside to play, my boyfriend's cousins can't even go to Thanksgiving Dinner without each bringing a DS and throwing a fit when it's time to put it down and eat, but I think that also has a lot to do with the parenting and lack of consequences.

On the other hand, I don't think that kids should be completely banned from playing video games. I love gaming, I grew up gaming, it's what I do when I get free time (that or watch Food Network). It's a really fun way to relax and unwind, and avoid the sun. Can't forget about that evil daystar when considering going outside...
But who doesn't want to go outside once in awhile to play tag or throw dodgeballs at each other? I certainly do.

"make their kids play out in the streets like she did."

Does anyone else picture a child getting hit by a car or something? And that was it why we never play in the street!

Anyways, it's her opinion. -shrug- Let her think that way. Miss America really has no affect on you so what should it matter what she thinks.

I didn't go through all the pages, but in case it hasn't been said:
1) I agree, she and her offspring should go play in traffic and
2) I don't understand why these glorified whores get so much press in the US. They're models. They're all coked up and retarded.

What if you're a man?

And what's she mean that we video gamers aren't as imaginative? Video gaming is storytelling. I'm sure each of us has thought up a story idea for a game.

Yes... lets all take parenting advice from someone who uses her college degree to win a beauty contest... yeah... that's a good idea.

After that, maybe we should all just drop little kids on their heads as well...

Is that woman in the picture the new MISS AMERICA? Wow..that's bad.
But hey!! YEAH! I can see how she's better. If I'll have a daughter I'm going to show her off at those beauty contests at the age of 6 , like the piece of meat she will be , untill she becomes Miss Something..because that must be the pinnacle of a woman's life. And then she can start throwing extremely useful advice left and right /irony

..............????!

Okay, I have a question for you, Miss America...

Have you ever PLAYED a video game when you were young? Or were you so destitute that you were forced to entertain yourself with sticks? If the former, then your opinion is only somewhat valid. If the latter, then who do you think you are to criticize something you have no experience in?

Wow, this woman is made of Organic FAIL. Plus, she looks like a frog.

I rest my case.

I played games and I go play outside, I like doing both equally but going outside requires time, planning, asking which friends are going etc...so at that age you cant just go out everyday especially if your area is filled with old people.

Games are something you do when your stuck indoors with nothin to do and if I recall outside is terrible, the only reason to go outside is to play sports or to get to a different inside, otherwise outside is filled with crime and fighting.
