I'm simply stating that any game that wants to beat it sales-wise is almost certainly going to have to run at 60FPS on consoles.
Given the existing fanbase of MW, do you fps will be the deciding factor?

Personally, I think that it will be a combination of spectacle (i.e. explosions, nuclear missile bomb threats, helicopter gunships and the like), addictive multi-player, and graphics. Plus the MW name - MW3 and BF3 could be identical, and MW would still outsell BF 10-1 because of MW1.
High FPS does make for a good experience, but I wouldn't be so sure of it being the deciding factor. But maybe I'm wrong again.

I wish I'd seen the site before it got switched to point at BF3 - sounds morbidly entertaining.

i am a huge battle field fan but this is all getting to crazy and kinda childish. if people like playing with your toy why must they then turn around and say that some one else should not have a similar toy? or that someone else's toy is bad? which is wrong because they are having fun with it, why can't we leave each other alone. also they are both fps's about modern war why argue, just one have vehicles and the other really nice guns both good things that are different. sorry to break conversation flow guys but i had to say that it has been bothering me every time i see a thread like this

Hah, oh that's hilarious shit there! Even though EA are douchebags in general they did well on this little joke, if they are responsible.

You do realise that audiences almost directly shape the industry by buying or not buying a certain product?
True that. And like I said, I'm pretty close to not buying BF3 even though I'd originally planned to because of all the pissing and moaning about CoD. It's grating and immature and it makes me think that the BF3 player base will be even worse than the CoD one. In which case... no thanks.

People, this is kind of getting off topic. This has turned into a flame war of Battlefield vs CoD. If what you want to argue which game is better, then provide cold hard evidence of which one has a more consistent, high number of players playing through each game's release.

http://store.steampowered.com/stats/

According to steam, 30% more people, on average, play MW2 compared to Black Ops, with average players being 24,411 and 17203. Also, according ausgamers.com, the number of people playing MW2 on Steam has stayed relatively consistent while Black Ops numbers have slowly been dropping since its release, starting at about 58,000 and dropping down to about 33,000 in late March, and finally to 17203 today.

And according to http://bfbcs.com/ the current number of people playing Battlefield Bad Company 2 on PC is 22579. Unfortunately, I have still yet to find a chart of the number of people playing over the course of its release. I had difficulty finding that kind of information about Black Ops and MW2 and even then it was only based on Steam.

If anyone could provide reliable information about player statistics on each game, that would really be helpful in obtaining information on the overall popularity of each franchise.

OT: Ha, that is so trollface worthy. I've seen similar sites like that but most of them have been sites that change a couple letters of the actual site to make you think it's legit. This one spells it out clear as day. I say kudos to the win troll.

This is what trolling should be like. Not meant to anger anyone or cause harm, just meant to be a little laugh. Whoever did this deserves congrats.

is better than having a fun balanced multiplayer experience which call of duty has failed to deliver?
Implying that it's the reason COD feels good to so many people and they keep going back to it.
The reason people keep going back to COD is that nothing really was able to compete with it, but destructible environments, a history of awesome team multiplayer (see battlefield 2) then combine it with the fact that people are catching on to the fact that CoD has done nothing new since modern warefare 1 besides graphics tweaks and a few new weapons and perks, and battlefield has a chance

Yeah it does look awesome. BFBC2 was hella fun, and the new Frostbite engine looks sick.

...Which makes it even more depressing that the constant shitflinging is killing all the excitement I had for the game.

EA won't be laughing when MW3 outsells Battlefield by 10 to 1.

Focus on getting us 60FPS on consoles instead of taking the piss out of a game that kicked your ass last year.
Indeed pretty sad you fell for a publicity line that pretty much says that the game will run at a mediocre frame rate(I do mean for a competitive game snce that was the context). Any e-sport FPS that respects itself runs btwn 100-110 fps, which yes for normal humans like us means nothing but for a pro gamer means eveything(have you never seen a tournament f quake live or Counterstrike?).

I'm having even bigger problems imagining how it'll influence the experience of you actually playing the game. This seems like such an arbitrary reason not to buy it, it's almost mind-boggling.
Really? People talk about how the CoD community ruined the game for them and how they'll never go back because of it all the time. From what I've seen the BF3 fanbase might be even worse. It's like they don't care about the game or how fun it is at all, just so long as it does well enough in sales to satisfy some kind of bitter grudge against CoD. How does this not make sense as a reason for not wanting to buy it?

Because when people talk about the CoD community, they mean the people playing the game, not the people commenting on the forums or video hosting websites. This is beyond obvious.
Yeah, but I meant that the immature attitude of the people commenting on forums or video hosting websites could be evidence of what the in game community will be like as well - I thought that was beyond obvious as well.

Oh well, I guess the only way to be sure is to rent it. If my fears are unfounded, great, I'll buy it. If not, I didn't waste $60.

...Yep, definitely going to give it a rent first.

*cough*CALLOFDUTYFANBOY*cough*

OT:I think it must have been a screwup,I mean EA Marketing are made of a bunch of morons (See also the Dead Space 2 marketing campaign "Your Mom hates Dead Space 2" and Dante's Inferno's Sin To Win contest) But this would just be out of pure retardation if it was on purpose.

Hey, if this is your way of discourse, I'd rather you not play the game at all.

You did ignore that part of my post, or at least failed to refute it, and it does not take more than half a brain to realise it.
No, I didn't. Yes, given they are a tiny portion of the community, they could well still be a representative sample as far as I know. Indeed, that's how sampling works. Taking a small portion of a group to extrapolate about the larger group in general. You failed to refute my point from the outset, and have resorted to childish insults ("anyone with half a brain", etc.) and the shitflinging I've basically come to expect from the BF3 forum fanboys these days.

Would you consider yourself a representative member of the BF3 online community? If so, I might even skip out on the rent.

More money for the prestige edition of MW3 ;3
