Morrowind 2011 Mod Collection Pulled After Complaints

I saw one of the mods in the compilation belonged to a specific modder who has a history of this. I won't mention her name for sake of being civil but there was a time when she pulled all of her mods off of the main modding sites. Also judging from her passed dealings she most definitely would not have given permission. It's a shame really, to this day a lot of her work still hasn't come back online. Also of note in this discussion is that sometimes the original mod creators don't respond or have disappeared from the internet so getting permission is often not possible. I think it's more likely that he tried to get permission and they didn't respond so then the original modders found out through their friends in the community and threw a hissy fit.
Also to those saying that all Tyler would need to do is link to the mods individually... it's not quite so simple. He changed and cleaned various esps (The plugin files) so that they would act nicely together. So in the end he would need to release patch esps as to not step on any toes/egos (not a good idea as the Gamebryo engine doesn't like that) or a very technical writeup on how to edit the mods in the construction set which kinda defeats the point of what he was trying to do for those in and out of the community.
Either way am glad I saved the compilation and the all important instructions before he took them down. *wink wink/nudge nudge*

I dont remember seeing anywhere that the guy who put this package together ever claimed that he made it. In fact it always stuck in my mind as he got a bunch of mods together and made sure they worked, then released them as a pacakge for other people to use for free.
This is similar to people who upload World of Warcraft User Interface packages and nobody seems to have a problem there. They use almost 100's of other peoples work, just zip it all up, take some screen shots and everyone is happy.
This is just the modder community being bitter I think. I hope that it gets back online, or that I can find it on a torrent site.

Wow. That's just... dumb. Why would anybody deny him permission to do this? Now I want to go buy Morrowind just so I can torrent this mod pack. What a bunch of petty jerks. Just because you have the right to do something legally doesn't mean you should.

Didn't work for me anyway. His MGE file wasn't compatable and with a different version morrowind did look better but had some game breaking bugs.

Fuck no.
This chap put in the effort to get all these mods working together properly, compiled them for ease of download and installation, and although not perfectly, clearly made the effort to credit the original content creators. That these content creators, who ostensibly do what they do for free and so that as many people as possible can enjoy an enhanced gaming experience, would resort to legal threats in order to have this content taken down, ensuring that many will be unable to enjoy it, is indicative of their poor attitude.
Perhaps this is a silly question in regards to all of this...
But why is it that sheer pride prohibits the evolution of ideas? Games, by far, have done an awful lot to further this notion. Yet, even in the absence of greed, people still contend to want to have their turn in the spotlight even if it's just for that most brief of moments. If I was a modder (I do the console thing, but I respect people who do this kinda thing out of sheer love of the art form) and someone took my idea or concept and furthered it's evolution into something more beautiful than what I had originally intended, I'd be happy to know that I was part of the chain that helped it to grow to that point. Then again, not everyone is me.

Should have gotten permission - that would have ironed out all problems; kinda think the guys raising a stink were mostly doing it on principle as I doubt their mods' copyright stuff has much legal grounding.
Generally though, it's free stuff, on the web; why can't you distribute it? Loads of mods and things I've seen say in their read-me 'do not redistribute', and I can't but wonder why - what difference does it make where I get the files from, or whose bandwidth I use? I'm inclined to go download this just to spite the entitled modders and I don't even own Morrowind.
Yeah, downloading this out of spite, I have long since stopped playing morrowind mainly because it looks awful to my eyes and I had a total ***** of a time getting various conflicting mods to work.
might even reinstall it and see how amazing it looks.
best case scenario he would have asked permission but end of the day he didn't have to and the mod creators should be glad their work is actually being seen and they are heavily credited for it.

I'd be a bit pissed if the guy didn't ask my permission first if he used a mod I made but I think they're going slightly over the top about it.
An apology and a promise to ask my permission next time would have sufficed for me to let him carry on using it though.
