Bleh... the ignorance of copyright law here is astounding. These mod writers DO have rights... which do include how these mods are distributed.

That was -not- trolling. Not in any shape or form of the definition.

Post a torrent of it, say you didn't upload it. Smile as your connection spreads with the most efficient filesharing network in existence.

Problem solved.
About that, got the link for the torrent? or A torrent with the pack in it?
I'm trying but apparently no site wants me to upload it.

Don't worry, people. If it's been online for a day it is bound to have spread. Just look around for it, that's all I'll say :3

Not your statement, I mean the concept of posting their emails and spamming them. That's Anonymous tactics right there. I'm not suggesting you were serious, just. Y'know.

Hurr durr.

OT: Why the hell would they go to legal actions (I'm Norwegian, that's the reason for my poor English)? Aren't mods in regular usually free?

I've got to fault both sides on this one: he should have given the modders credit but the modders should realize there work is released freely already and credits are perfectly okay. He stepped over the line by making it seem like the mods were his and they stepped over the line with fake sounding copyright claims. Oh well, there are copies everywhere.

By posting a story from Joystiq on this forum without the author's consent, the maker of this thread is also violating copyright laws in the same way, and would be whether the source and author was cited or not. If you support the author's rights unconditionally, would you side with the author if they requested this thread be deleted for copyright infringement? The needless pursuit of copyright control helps nothing, especially in circumstances such as these.

Don't care about right's these people were never going to make money of off it. These people just want attention. All they want is MEMEMMEMEMEMEM I DID THIS! It's a collaboration. You are getting credited. That is all you need not internet fame. Alot of people wouldn't even know about these mods unless we went and searched for them individually.

Doesn't matter because it's all over the torrent hubs and everywhere already.
These guys can go choke on dicks.

That's sad. I really, really love morrowind. Actually, it might be my favorite game of all time. This pack looked AWESOME and a good excuse to start playing the game for like a millionth time.

Are you trying to upload the entire pack or just a .torrent file? For a .torrent I'd recommend... er... well, I can't post it publicly, I'd get moderated into the floorboards. I'll PM a link.

E: Ah, someone's already posted a link. I'd edit it out of your post before a mod spots that. :\

A few things of use...

-links snip-

Look at a cached pageview of morrowind2011.wordpress.com for the instructions for setting the whole thing up.
The cache will change eventually, here's a save of it [http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?0d3z5s84m1s0eth].

And thus Morrowind 2011 because the most reproduced Morrowind mod ever, spread around by countless 3rd parties who were all quoted as saying "seriously, fuck those guys."
Ok, this is probably the exact reason the modders were not happy in the first place. First and foremost it's not a mod, it's a package containing other peoples mods. The incorrect notion that he created these mods [and to be honest that's the impression some gaming sites gave] would no doubt have angered those that took the time and effort to create said mods.
It's always be called a collaboration of mods. Considering the mods were most likely made for free, the modders should just be happy that people are enjoying their content as they have made the mods selflessly. It makes no sense to offer a mod for free and then have a hissy fit when it's essentially put into a "Best of" mod compilation. Personally I think they are letting their egos go to their head and blowing it completely out of proportion.
this for sure, he creditted them, which what more can they ask for (sure he should have asked permission first) but still, if my mom was included in a package of the best of mods, i would be fucking stoked that i did that, and that someone recognized it out there and that lots of people now will get streamlined to enjoy my product.

Maybe he should just compile a list of all the mods he used and release that with instructions.

Ah, looks like people still value their personal status over letting others have something streamlined and easy to use. Gruevy.

So, outside of the legal issues, this is still a sad day for the mod community. I had been following along with the instructions on the website, and just about had it working, and now those instructions are gone. Thanks modders.

Here's some perspective: About 6 months ago, I first heard about the Morrowind Graphics Extender. This got me excited about playing again with updated graphics. So along with this, I found a website with a list of the 'essential' mods. A list of about 30+ mods, each with links, each with different download sites with different registration requirements. Then, there were warnings about what mods you could not use if you used other mods, and which ones you had to forget about. Then each of them had different install methods. I put in about 5 hours to try and get it running, and there were still more mods to download.

I gave up.

Then, I see this: Morrowind 2011

One install, detailed configuration instructions. Each mod was confirmed to be working with the rest, no worries about conflicts. It seeemed to be everything I could every want, in one easy location. I downloaded immediately. On top of that, the site was getting regular updates, and the owner responding to feedback.

I had some technical issues, but I was able to resolve them. I went back to the site tonight, to check back on a question that I had seen some info on earlier, and find it gone.

So the bully mod community got it pulled down. Who won here? nobody
