Most Anticipated Games of 2011

I agree that the list is missing Warhammer 40k Space Marine which I am looking forward too.

Other than that...

Skyrim - check.
Deus Ex - check.
Arkham City - check.
MW3 - check.
BF3 - check.
RAGE - check.
Assassin's Creed revelations - check.

Well now,it seems that Escapist managed to check off a "few" games that I am anticipating this year as well.

Is it sad that the only one I have my eye on is Deus Ex: Human Revolution?

Considering how awesome it looks and how a lot of the others are just direct sequels (whereas this is probably barely related to earlier games' settings) I don't think so.

I wasn't even a fan of Dead Island until I saw a video of gameplay playing in gamestop like 3 days ago. Now I can't wait. 4 Player co-op, free-roam open-world rpg with unique loot, in-depth combat, guns and bullets are hard to find and there are zombies? I think someone might need to put me up on missing persons when this gets released, cuz if it holds up at all I'm gonna disappear from the civilized world for a time.

I keep hearing about what games are combined to make this concoction. Borderlands + Fallout + Left 4 Dead + Dark Messiah of Might and Magic (you can kick zombies and it takes stamina )

I keep complaining about over-hyped games but gahd does it look good.

Firstly look at the rest of this thread, quite a few other people would have liked to see Space Marine on it.

And you'll notice my argument was never that Space Marine shouldn't be on the list.
You claimed that if Zelda was on the list, Space Marine should be too. It was a flawed comparison, and to be perfectly honest it sounded more like an insult towards Zelda games than a complaint regarding the lack of Space Marine.

So yes, Space Marine clearly belongs on the list, but that has nothing to do with the already present contents of that list.

And no, you don't fit the stereotype, but as I said, prior to now, you'd given me no reason to see you otherwise.

Looks like an elf in tights to me unless the skin on his legs is really gray.
And yes I do think Space Marine can be compared to Zelda mostly because Space Marine has Relic behind it, the company that made the Homeworld series, Company of Heros, and of course the Dawn of War series.

Make a note to remind yourself of the following: When Space Marine comes out if it sucks I will apologize to you for thinking it could compare to Zelda.

Mmhmm, and I could say Space Marine was a game about meat heads on steroids. It may be accurate based on imagery, but its posed as an insult.

And having Relic behind them doesn't count for much when the Zelda series has Nintendo, y'know, the name old people still use to refer to anything that plays games (either that or they call it a playstation).

Zelda has more history than any of those games.
As does Nintendo.
Both Zelda and Nintendo are more likely to be (videogame related) household names than Space Marine and Relic.
There are more games in the Zelda series, almost all of which have been popular.

Except as stated, its not a case of how good the game is. Its a popularity contest and when it comes to videogames, Zelda is up near the top.
You need to realise that whilst Space Marine certainly belongs on the list (if the reaction here is anything to go by) it doesn't rival Zelda in terms of hype or anticipation.

I've got some bad news for you mate. The Last Guardian has been pushed back to the later half of 2012.

In other news I'm kinda excited to get my hands on Skyrim and Dark souls.. no Catherine or El Shaddai on the list kinda makes me sad, but still a pretty good list.. though a lot of them are sequals.. ah well.

The one that I most eagerly await is Dead Island. Hopefully, finally, a Zombie game that is true to the genre. Mixed expectations, though.

Other than that, well, Skyrim. Despite the fact that I had it thouroughly ignored it so far... how could I not want this?

Not a must, but a firm probably is Arkham City.

I hope Deus Ex doesn't suck but I predict it will. I mean maybe it will be good for a console game but I don't see how it can top the open world, open gameplay, and open story of DE1.

Wow, the video from Rage kind of took me by surprise. I hadn't really taken interest in the game, but it looks extremely good. Sure buy for me, as is Skyrim. My autumn is taken care of.
