I know I'll probably catch a lot of flak for this, but Borderlands is certainly the most boring game I've played recently.

Competent but uninteresting shooting mechanics, and I spent most of the time picking up mountains of money and loot, 95% of which would be sold off the instant I found a merchant. I know that's par for the course in RPGs, but at least in most RPGs I play there are characters and story I give a damn about, which Borderlands could scarcely be more lacking in. Trying to work through the various menus and find what was worth keeping and what wasn't was a nightmare; the UI isn't exactly what I would call helpful. I really like the cel-shading art style, but I can't fathom why they decided to use it to make every environment the same brown desert.

Sins of a Solar Empire.

I fell asleep playing it. There's just so much WAITING. Wait for my ships to get into position to jump, wait for them to jump, wait for them to arrive, wait wait wait wait wai- zzzzzzzzz

It just doesn't hold my attention, unlike GalCiv2 or Endless Space.
Sins of a Solar Empire is to RTS as EVE Online is to MMO's. I definately can understand why you didn't take to it. :p
Conversely, I LOVE slow, ponderous strategy games.

Although I find it strange that you'd not be engaged by that and then be engaged by Endless Space, but then again I haven't played Sins (and Endless Space is hella engaging either way)

It's not the most boring game I've ever played but it's the one I had the highest expectation for only to not get into it.

Deus Ex Human Revolution
I just cant get into it maybe it's because I have to be perfect in my stealth and that makes me reload the game over and over in the same section I've also been told by someone who had completed it to start again because I missed out some of the early side quests that I could not be bothered doing. I've heard it's a really good game but I can't get myself to play it.

But the game I found the most boring.

Battlefield 3
[b/]The multiplayer [/b]
bad because I am bad at it and the good players have the advantage of the more powerful guns, every time I want to play it with a friend I have to do a 5gb update for the game. Witch takes me the whole day it's the only game my friends talk about and I don't see what is so fun about repeatedly getting killed at a spawn by a sniper. The vocal community is also awful spamming you tube videos of completely unrelated games with the same comment: "This game (sucks/is stupid/requires no skill/is for idiots) BF3 is so much better"

[b/]The Single player.[/b]
I haven't gotten past the first level because it is so linear I have to constantly follow orders given to me If I deviate from the task I am killed in friendly fire The levels look so nice and big but I can only go in a small section of them and wait for my team to follow me. I once got past the first level but since I had no internet on my PS3 I had to start the campaign over again I get to the part in the first level where you have to defuse the bomb and I just give up because it's not fun to be ordered around like in a game of Military Simon says I want to do my own thing I get ordered around in real life far too much why would I want an angry man shouting at me to "Bravo the tango frosty" (or some shit). when I play a game I expect to be able to have fun and not have to constantly follow the orders in a "realistic war simulation". If I wanted to go and experience a war I would join the army I don't want some twat ordering me about when I want to relax.

Morrowind or Deus Ex Human Revolution.

I got given both by a friend and every now and then I decide "you know what I'll try them again." I play for about half an hour and then I remember why I stopped playing.

Dragon Age.

Nothing good about this game. I honestly cant find ONE good thing about it. Its all a challenge.

Anyways I have ranted about this one game QUITE a lot, no more of this is needed. Its basically dull as hell. Even shitty flash games can beat it by a fair difference.
Interesting choice. I disagree, but I can understand that it's not for everyone, though I do not understand how you could not find "One" good thing. Maybe we just think of the word differently, or maybe you just didn't want to find good things about it. Aside from repetition, I couldn't find one bad thing about it. Sound design and graphics were adequate, not great, but very tolerable.
The world and lore was very interesting, it tackled a lot of interesting subjects. I liked the characters, the dialog, the writing. I enjoyed the gameplay, even when the repetition started being apparent in The Fade and Deep Roads. I thought the RPG elements very well made and I think the choice system was great, stepping away from Good/Bad and more towards what you want the characters to think you as.
But yeah, each to their own, I guess.

OT:
While I love Sim City, Societies took away all the challenge, which ruined the fun, which made it dull.
Other than that, none really. I have a high resistance towards slow gameplay, and can manage most strategy and RPG games very well, so boredom is rarely a problem.

I tend to enjoy all the games I play so the most boring game I can think of is Just Cause 2, all you do is fly around blow shit up and shoot people. What really upset me is I love Just Cause 1 and it's the same formula! I guess I've just matured.
Nah, just try playing JC1 again, it's way more boring. At least in JC2 blowing stuff up contributes to your stats and a palpable sign of progress- 1 doesn't even have that.

Bizarrely enough though, my most missed feature from JC1 is the ability to hop into the passenger seat of any regular car and be driven around the country by the AI.

Gears of War 2. I enter a room and take cover. Locust enter the room and take cover. We shoot at each other until they're dead. I enter the next room and take cover. Locust enter the room and take cover. I shoot them. I enter another room and take cover. Locust enter the room and take cover. We shoot at each other. I think I got maybe 2 hours into it and then gave up and returned it.

I guess the first Witcher game takes that award, I try to finish every game I buy but after getting to chapter 4 I just couldn't gather the willpower to play it more and barely remember anything about the plot.

However, what I do remember is how the game was set out to have none of the typical good or evil choices a lot of games instead just have choice and consequence which I thought was cool then I started playing and one of the first choices I was given after the prologue was if whether or not I wanted to save a waitress I met 1 minute earlier from being gang-raped

Portal 2. Yeah it was funny, but my God it was boring to play. Do puzzle, exit room, enter new room, do similar puzzle, exit room, enter room, do similar puzzle, exit room...and on and on it goes. I gave up about halfway through through sheer boredom.

Final Fantasy XIII. Two words, people: The Hallway. If you've played FFXIII (and you shouldn't!), you know one fact; you cannot escape The Hallway.

Elder Scrolls games, most notably Oblivion.
I swear, even watching paint dry is 10x more interesting than these games.

Far Cry 2. I this game gave me no instructions after the dull tutorial. I then fast traveled to the opposite side of the map, shot up a couple of camps and turned it off. This from someone who likes to role-play as a delivery guy in GTA IV.

Dragon Age: Origins, however, didn't get past the tutorial. I chose to be a city elf and when I got to the castle I realized I was having absolutely NO fun. Probably a good game but I'll never find out.

Ah fuck, I find this topic really depressing for some reason. Maybe it's from the cash I've wasted...

- Oblivion. Completely boring and, on a sidenote, bloody ugly. I am quite enjoying Skyrim though...

- All of the Fable series. Just... Fuck...

- Mass Effect 1&2. Bored the shit out of me, however I quite liked some of the choice sections.

- Lost Planet 2. No idea why I bought that shit, but I WAS drunk. Worst shooter I have played in a long time.

- LOTR Conquest. Do I even have to say anything about this bloody game? In my defence it was really cheap...

- Dragon Age Origins. Ugly, stupid, despised the story, bored me to tears.

I usually have a pretty good taste for these kinds of things, and looking back on these now, those games were all whim-based buys. Looks like deliberation saves money in this case.

I wish I could say "Shadow of the Colossus." Why? Well because it was boring as tar to watch and I never actually played it. A game in which you only fight boss fights? And the terrain is boring as crap with nothing in particular to look at? No secrets? Nothing? What a bore.

Granted the boss fights looked really cool and even the final one was awesome. But it seemed way too tedious, and it felt like they were the only exciting part of the game.

Other than that I can't think of anything.

Dead Island was an extremely boring letdown. A lot of my friends were playing it and told me it was a great game, so you can imagine my disappointment when I slogged through a few hours of shit for a $60 price-tag. After selling it I asked one of my friends why he liked it so much and his answer was pretty much "It has zombies and blood n' shit." -_-

I see this thread topic is turning into "recent games you hate".

I'm a bit surprised that there is no mention of this game

Everything about the game was dull as fuck. Hated every minute of it, but still forced myself to play since it was an easy platinum.

Battlefield 3 single player, especially the fighter jet bit, man did that hypen my hopes of flying a jet then disappointed that I can't & its AI flown, followed by 30mins of bored to tears and very close to bunching the monitor of waiting for missiles to lock on or hit flare button, man was it sooooooooooooooooooo bad.
